Decent enough. Today was Military Appreciation Day at Clemson. If you were at the game/watched it, you might have seen me lining the Hill. The parade/hill detail was a lot more exhausting than I thought it would have been, and I knew I didn’t have much in me, so just hit squats hard. Planning on something good for tomorrow.
I’d appreciate any squat critiques if possible. I know it’s not the best angle, but it’s what I have at the moment.
I need to work on my form consistency during overhead pressing movements. Also, I’m really not happy about my overhead pressing strength, I’d like to see it higher.
I’ve been pushing really hard lately and been making good progress, so I knew a day was going to come when I was just too beat down. 455 felt like a ton and 500 barely moved, even though it should be very doable. Stopped it when I knew it was pointless and just did some accessory stuff. Hopefully will be back to destroy tomorrow, if not, I’ll play it safe again.
Front Squat 1x175, 1x185, 1x205, 1x215, 1x225, 1x235 PR, 1x245 PR, 1x255 PR, 2x225
DB Rows 10x65, 10x75, 10x85, 10x95
Neck Work
Forearm Work
About this morning, I was pissed off I did so poorly, so I ate some then came back about 8 hours later and destroyed front squats. A 30lb pr, mainly because I kinda learned how to keep my back tight. I need to focus on that in both front and back squats. DB rows were very light, just wanted to do something else, can do a lot more.
I’m going to change my training up and actually follow a schedule. Not sure exactly how I want to do it yet, but it will definitely be more akin to traditional powerlifting programs.
Also, I was late in this posting due to getting a concussion and megaknee contusion last night during flag football. This was my first concussion, so I didn’t really think too much about it til this morning when I woke up and felt all kinds of awful and couldn’t remember a lot of last night. Went by the campus health place and got my knee x-rayed and everything else taken care of. Hopefully I’ll be good to go by next week, and at least I don’t have to PT for a while haha. I needed a break anyways.
Bench 5x160, 5x185, 8x210
Chins
DB Bench 3x10x70
DB Rows 3x10x70
DB Curls
Pushdowns
Bench felt good. Think I started at a good weight. DB Bench was tough, but right in the range I wanted it to be. DB rows were super light, will definitely be moving those up. Going to up my conditioning and do some stuff tomorrow.
Back Squat 5x230, 5x265, 6x300
HB Squat(olympic I guess) 3x5x225
Decline Situps
1 mile run 7:12
Just now getting back into it from my injury. Didn’t want to push the squats too hard, plus I’m working on fixing my technique. It feels much better. The run time is a pr for me, which is really sad. I feel as though I’m one of the slowest cadets in our battalion. Just gotta pass the final APFT next week.
Thanks man, it’s pretty much 100%. Just not going to be reckless for a while. I’m using 5/3/1 with a focus on higher frequency. Mainly because I want to, so I’m doing it.
Military Press 5x95, 5x110, 7x125
Chins
CGBP 3x10x155
BB Rows(strict) 3x10x185
DB Hammer Curls
Shoulder Stuff
Everything felt pretty easy. Definitely kept some in the tank on everything. I like the feel of doing the rows strict. The thought behind the cgbp on military days is hopefully the increased benching frequency will help that lift, also having bigger triceps is cool. Didn’t feel up to any conditioning after training today and I have an accounting test to study for tonight.
The 385 set was really easy, I had the strength for a lot more. I planned on playing it safe today, and not going close to what I can do, since this is the first time I’ve pulled for reps in a while. Also, during that set, I got really nauseous and remembering that is a symptom of my concussion, I stopped and it went away. Didn’t do any conditioning and plan on playing it safe at PT tomorrow due to the nausea.
A.M.
Back Squat 2x275, 1x315, 1x335, 1x355, 8x2x315
P.M.
Bench 1x245, 11x2x225
DB Hammer Curls
Face Pulls
Side Laterals
The squats were with a lot higher bar position than usual and beltless. It felt much better in terms of movement pattern. I’m going to work with that from now on. Bench was fine, wasn’t as strong as usual, but did what I could.
Deadlift was very good today. Happy with that performance. All the pullups were easy. I’m just now getting back into weighted pullups, so I didn’t go for anything very difficult. CGBP was probably a stupid idea today, but still managed to tie a pr.
Log Clean and Press 1x150, 1x160, 1x170
EZ Curl 7x90
Muscle Snatch a lot
DB Row 14x110
A pretty piss poor day. Nothing went like I wanted it to, although I had 2 prs. Must just be out of it from the PT test this morning. At least that’s done for the year.
