Hi,

Welcome DD, I know we have some female lurkers, id love to see what your training consists of so look forward to your posts!

taking this week off from conditioning…that cold really took it out of me i need time to recover. I usually push myself pretty hard but lately i can’t help but fall asleep all the time so i think my body is saying chill the fuck out.

but of course i still lifted today :-p

OH Press till heavy 3
Push Press till Heavy 3
Jerk till heavy 3 (225# final)

oh press for next 4-6wks, use this to kick start it off and get a gauge for my strength and weaknesses as well as it being pretty good for hypertrophy. using keith wassung article and some old school john grimek article stuff i found for basic premise to increase oh press. I really need to find the right “groove”

Chinups 8x45, 6x75, 3x90, 3x90, 3x90

trying to keep 1arm chinup strength during OH press training cycle, 1 min rest

1 arm rows 100x5, 125x5, 125x5, 125x5, 125x5, 100x 15, 100x15

straps, i could prob do more reps, 30-40s rest.

1 arm bench press 90lbs,5x5, 1min rest

holy shit is that an abworkout

Last night my lower back pumped to the point of intense pain from GnP… it was awesome.

Today’s workout

Zercher Squat 4x5 265 high
Bench 4x5 185 high
Power Clean/Press 4x4 155 high

Chins for reps three sets
Incline bench for reps three sets (95 lbs)

I was gassed during this and I think I need to up my calories to deal with this increased activity.

I wasn’t around T-Nation when CW’s Hammer Down: Strength article came out… just found it basically. Did/do you guys follow that program and how did you like it? I am going to start doing it after my current program ends and I am looking forward to it.

I did it a couple of years ago, right after it was released. It’s a good program, although I tweaked it a little b/c I felt that there were too many exercises, especially the first lifting day.

Still, definitely a good template to follow. I liked his conditioning circuit, too.

Finished Exams yesterday and got twisted to celebrate. Showing up to morning Muay Thai still drunk was not the swiftest idea ever. And of all days, this is the day my girlfriend decides she wants to try this whole shin dig out.

I sparred with a rookie, and apparently it looked “Like when that idiot from “Jackass” fought that womens champion” so that was cool. Conditioning was a bitch. Moving in 14 days, closer to the Gym/MMA Gym/School/Liqour Store/Work so thats gonna be a solid. Why Im awake at quarter after 4 in the morning I have no idea, but Im going for a run, peace.

Back on…
Tonight was awesome, attended my first true MMA class, had previously been into submission grappling, and boxing separately. It was awesome, the conditioning was kind of unnecessary, I handle that pretty well on my own. On the flip side, the kick boxing was great.
Class 3 hours
+
4X6 Pull ups (Last two sets w/ towel)
4X6 Horizontal Pull ups
4X6 Single Leg Squats

Would do more, but need sleep.

Hi,

Yesterday I had a BJJ lesson with my coach and two other guys.
We went over half-guard sweeps. The other boys are more advanced then me so they also learned some versions where they come up standing and sweep, but I just learned from kneeling.

The pic above looks like the starting position pretty much.

The instructor says he thinks it’s gonna be my move. He liked the way I handled it.

I really enjoyed myself. The guys are really cool and I like working with them. One is a very good white belt who really should be a blue, and the other is a very skillful blue belt.

The white belt is small and light and very sweet and he’s got an unbelievable set of hips and hooks. I want to be able to “float” like he does.

So I got a tough workout for over an hour. No conditioning because of the strength workout I did the day before.

Today is technically “off” but I’ll still be doing my regular 3 mile trek across town and up the giant hills with a heavy backpack and 1.5 lb. wrist weights.

Tomorrow is a strength workout and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Training tonight took a few days off from sunday just cause i felt like poop. though i did lift.

but i’ve been thinking and working meanwhile :-p

Building a device to hang rings from so I can train that shit at home.

basically two big tires filled with cement with two 8 1/2 feet bars and a 6ft cross bar.

It will replace most of my upperbody lifting other than maybe overhead jerks, 1 arm snatches, and most other ballistic movements. I’ll really only add these in if I start to feel less explosive but truthfully I doubt it. Bagwork itself is inherently plyometric, as well as a myraid of other things we do just skill training. But if it becomes a problem ballistic lifts, and plyometrics will be added in.

I’ll be using one of these:

so that I can hit Planche, iron cross, and maltese on rings eventually.

the strength gained will supplment mma/muay thai/bjj nicely i believe because its both fluid strength and static.

so shopping list is: rings, bands, weighted vest, new dipping belt, and iron cross tool.

trainign will look something like

day1:
skill training singles(planche, iron cross)
weighted muscle ups
weighted ring pushups
ab fallouts

day2:
skill training singles + reps on “lite”
1 arm chinup training
ring handstand pushups
ab fallouts

and rest of the week just do more skill training (id practice everyday since its more of a motor learning thing anyway)

lower body i’d continue with my westside style stuff twice a week.

conditioning would remain relatively the same unless i happen to find a versaclimber on craigslist or something.

ive been reccomended by a few guys to go (back) to millenia to get my grappling game up so in a year or so when i transition to mma ill be ready to go… if it takes me that long… subs WERE my strong point actually but we’ll see.

http://www.millenniajiujitsu.com/millennia/

they got voted as one of the top 5 mma school recently

legends, millenia, team quest, xtreme couture, and city boxing

thats helluva accomplishment. (though to think they excluded team black house, with nog and anderson silva, or ATT but… whatever maybe they just mean on the westcoast)

So at least i’ll have some higher quality guys to work with… only problem is its 200 a month (SHIT)

so im hoping some sponsors im talking to work out otherwise i can’t pay for that shit.

I know most have already seen it, but for those that haven’t (or want to watch it again), the Chuck Liddell-Wanderlei Silva fight from Dec. 2007 will be on tonight’s UFC Unleashed at 9 p.m. Eastern.

The last 2 rounds are awesome.

Hi!

<— In the batman suit.

Ok, next to the guy in the batman suit. I do TaekwonDo, but its been good to read through this thread, it is interesting to see the differences and similarities in the way we train.
How are you enjoying BJJ?

Training tonight was a BEAST. Weights today fried me. Followed by some hardcore sparring tonight. We split into teams of 4 and did Shark Pit within those 4, with winner staying up to three times. 3 minute rounds. I faced one really good wrestler, a good jits guy, and a really really new guy no one really knew anything about. Spent most of the time sprawling and brawling, and little time on top when the jits guy decided he had had enough of those shenanigans and pulled guard. Got put away with an spinning armbar after getting swept from half gaurd. Won the rest of the rounds. Turns out the new guy was a TKD brown belt and Yoshinkan Aikido Blue belt. He got MAULED. To the point where Im pretty sure, unless hes hard as nails, hes not coming back.

Crap. Got some bad info. Still got to see Franklin-Silva II, though. Forgot that Rich was actually doing OK for most of Round 1, then just was decimated by Silva.

Touche, my friend.

clinch and knee

oh my favorite thing in the world i love clinch work… I never try to muscle people in the clinch, but sometimes you get a new guy who tries to “play” too hard but i got to work with a great group of guys today pro’s who are a lot bigger than me so it nullified any chance of me trying to combat them using just my strength anyway so it was all technique and i wasn’t on my A game but did pretty well.

today a girl that usually doesn’t do too much of the fighter training worked out with us today and she got hit once or twice in the mouth she teared up a bit and we were about to stop she said “no keep going” and toughed it out

im SUPER proud of her, she’s only 16 and wants to fight and she just made huge emotional jump today, she’s one tough cookie she’s going to whoop some ass in the future.

Not really the place to discuss it but whatever. Anyone ever take a T-Booster and just really bug out? I woke up, took my normal protein, and this T-Booster as per the recommended dosage and procedure, and now Im just BUGGING OUT. Its like being high, only violent. Everything needs to be done NOW. My room mates and I were moving in yesterday, got drunk, and left the common area half finished. Its finished now by god. Anyone have a similiar experience.?

That’s an effective T-Booster!

Umm, which one is it?

Hey, hi, cf!

It was from reading your thread and djw’s invitation to you that I even stumbled in here. Glad to see you.

I’m loving the BJJ! Somebody call the doctor–girl’s gotta fever!
