Johnson’s knockout was shocking, I don’t think anyone in the room managed to say a sentence that didn’t involve “Oh Shit” or “Holy Shit” for about 2 minutes afterwards.

Going to day-on, day-off for time issues.

one last post about the anthony johnson vs speer fight

i felt sooo bad for speer because he seemed like a good guy on the show who jus wanted to earn some money to pay off his parents debts on the farm. and that knockout looked liked one of those knockout where he was going retarded after it.he was basically knocked out on his feet lol

atleast he got some training from good trainers this time, i think before the show all he did was powerlifting and farm work as training lol

yea rogan did mention about AJ’s wrestling background so atleast hes not jus a 1 dimensional striker

but damn, fuck working out and being big and ripped if anything i think isthe perfect physique would be lanky but not really skinny, quick power, and long reach like AJ lol

omg his punches were so crisp, quick, explosive, and powerful

ok one MORE post about the AJ fight

that fight looked like when anderson silva beat leben

wowwww

its all about your bodytype, personal style and weaknesses

If you’re tall and lanky, putting on a ton of muscle isn’t going to do too much. You’re probably already naturally heavier than you would be.

AJ for instance has the right amount of muscle on his frame, i know we love squats here on T-Nation but his legs aren’t huge so he doesn’t have unnecessary weight there and doesn’t have to drag that around which improves his kicking endurance and speed (if a guy that lanky had big legs he’d be upwards to 200lbs even after cutting), he has a thick torso to generate power from not ‘huge’ arms but big shoulders and lats… all the areas you generate power from.

that works for him

take a smaller guy like mike zambidis, he has to be damn near the opposite. He’s thicker, more muscular so he can generate a shitload of power because he doesn’t have the length of limbs to generate the power for him

imo, lanky guys dont have to be “STRONG” to hit hard because their limbs are so long that when they hit from a proper distance they have like twice as long for their fist to get to you which means twice as long to develope Force

Then you get a guy like Buakaw who’s “perfect” despite being a smaller guy but has some length to his limbs, yet has his muscle in all the right areas: legs are big and strong but not so large they impede his ability to kick and be mobile, thick torso, and a serious lat spread (come to think of it he’s built like bruce lee lol)

common things between all these guys.

 • muscle in the right areas
 • low body fat
 • gluteal, lats & upper back development

just my opinion.

So, I’m very, very pleased with how I performed after being gone. I guess all that video studying on the 'net paid off (Submissions 101)
Funny you say that because sub 101, Ari Bolden specifically, has taken a horrible beating on Bullshido and Sherdog about lot of crap that is petty to say the least.

Do you know why that is? Of course, Sherdog pretty much flames everyone in the MMA community.

Some people say he shouldn’t wear his JJJ black belt while doing BJJ and that his videos are poor in technique. Some people even bitched that he wears a BJJ kimono to do JJJ. Stupid shit.

Do you know how to give a brazilian blow job?

Sounds like typical Sherdog stuff…

Went to muay Thai this morning. I’ll be lucky if I can walk tomorrow. My hip flexibility and ROM was acutally better than I expected on my kicks today. I guess my stretching has been paying off. Still, we worked a crapload of kicks and then worked some punch-kick combos and finished up with some light sparring and conditioning.

Class was around 100 min. Now I’ve got to try and go to work. Hopefully I don’t fall asleep.

I got the Title Gel bag gloves and I couldn’t be happier.

Twins. No contest.

Those dragon gloves that twins makes look awesome…on the other hand, I’m not really good enough to be running around with a pair of gloves that look like that so I always buy the regular colors…one day though I’ll get a pair of those or the tiger stripped ones

Hey fellas, looking into purchasing some boxing gloves. Anyone have any preferences?
Everlast Pro training gloves. Got the 16 oz black a while back and have to say their the best I’ve used so far…and I’ve bought a LOT. Am currently looking at the grant quicklace boxin gloves. Grant generally are great but I’m not sure about these.

Realize I need to change my training around a lot if i want to keep getting stronger and put on some size but fight consistently and maintain conditioning. Judging by my posts you’d see that im a proponent of the westside methodology but really its not westside but rather ME,DE, RE and using special exercises and assistance work to bring up weaknesses. I dont train at westside therefore I am a westsider.

But I’d appreciate any ideas/ articles/ opinions/ etc on how to structure my training.

Im thinking perhaps strength training twice a week and conditioning the rest of the week. Strength Day and a speed day. so for example…

ME Day:
ME- Bench, ME- Squat, Assistance for both (2-3 exercises)

DE Day:
DE- Bench, DE- Squat, Assistance for both (2-3 exercises)

Not sure if this is too much in one day.

alternative example would be to mix them:

1:Speed bench, ME squat, assistance for both
2:speed squat, ME bench, assistance for both

i dont know if this is a good idea or what… like can i still get strong with just that? I know its primarily my eating that will put weight on but will i be optimizing my relative strength gains still?
days between id do conditioning, complexes, bagwork, rowing, running, etc.

New goals(for fighting anyway):

 • fight 12th, 26th, may 10th, hopefully i get matched up for each event.

 • Thai Boxing Association tourney: july 11-14th. Can’t wait, get my first ammy belt.

 • jiujitsu, 3x a week.

 • american gladiator tryouts

Maybe’s:

 • TUF tryouts… apparently they’re april 10th, but I’ll just have to hope this season is welterweights and next time is lightweights. LW division is STACKED so i dont think they’d be recruiting them right now, but when they do smile

today:

rack pulls worked up to 495x5 at knee level no belt, no straps.

incline db bench worked up to 105 for 3

 • 3 rounds bagwork, 30s thrusters (35lb dumbbells), 30s rest
 • 3 rounds c2 rower HR above 180, lunges with 35lb db’s for 1 min between rounds
 • 3 rounds bagwork, 30s rest

felt good last rounds, fast, was still extremely mobile and throwing bombs, dealt with lactic acid easily between rounds. Should be ok for fight, i like where im at as far as my conditioning, not much else i can do now anyway.

Picking up Martin Rooney’s new book later today; wife is a teacher and they have a deal at Borders where they 25% off deal on anything in the store through tomorrow.

I flipped through it quickly the other day and looks like there’s a lot of interesting stuff in there.

Did a strength workout today.

Sets: 3, Reps: 5
Squat
Good Mornings
BB Decline Bench
Seated Rows
Hammer Curls

are u talkin bout tryouts for TUF 8?? i think theyre bringing in lightweights and heavyweights… i dont think itll be welterweights cause of tuf 6 already was

oh yea good luck on getting those matches and i hope you win too

For those of you in california…this may interest you…

Tryouts…on the 26th…also a vid expressing is feelings on the cung le fight

Rival gloves. They are the TOPS. Its a Canadian company (represent) but you can get them off of titlemma.com without paying any import duties. I heard TUF 6 was Welterweight as well and was considerng a try out, I only have a student Visa and Im fairly sure it expires before then, so Ill have to look into it.

Other thing I was wondering. I read the American Gladiators comment. They must be stat padding. Have to be. Look at there posted stats, and look at them standing beside each other. Cant remember which ones, but one of them, is listed as 6’6 and they had him standing beside someone listed as 6’2. And they were damn near identical.
