Young O,sounds like developing an overhand right “like Koscheck throws it” is the least of your concerns. But we all have to start somewhere…hope you learn something useful here…like knowing exactly what ME and DE means and what it can do for you.

OK what does ME and DE stand for?
quite a few, muay thai has been my life for a little over a year now but i started fighting after my first month.
and young o, yes jumping rope is hella good. But i’ve moved past the point where its a calf exercise and its never really been one for me. If you want big calves, hit up the articles section and follow a specialization routine… jumping rope is for conditioning, rhythm, coordination, and mobility.
me/de… it means a maximal exercise and dynamic exercise.
go here:
Read every article about 3-5 times and i promise it’ll be the best thing you can do for your strength.
undoubtedly you’ll start, get frustrated and put it away but if you stick with the iron game for more than a year you’ll eventually realize what a gem i just handed you.
nova, you said your goin to 10th planet ju jit su, where is that located?? im up in the bay area and probably in the fall of 08 im goin to take an mma class and i REALLYYYYY want to get in to a jiu jit su class either 10th planet or a gracie school or somethin. Im leanin towards gracie because it seems very simple, technical, and effective and i also like to work off my guard a lot. but hows 10th planet?

OK, that “Bodybuilders are pansies” thread is driving me fucking apeshit.
The fact that anyone thinks a trained fighter is ever going to lose to a bodybuilder in any way is asinine to me.
Am I just overreacting? Or is everyone actually that fucking dumb on there?

That whole thread was beyond stupid. Curling in the squat rack dosen’t make anyone a better untrained fighter than my rear delt work making me a better race car driver. A little too much biased (ego) thinking in that thread.
RE Upperbody day, last one b4 fighting march 22nd which i believe is the last smoker fight in cali unless they change the legislation somehow. will switch it up to complexes and edt instead rest of week for my assistance work (probably- kind of winging it depends how i feel)
seated oh presses 5x10 65, 75, 85, 85, 95
1 arm rows + rear delt raises 5x5, 5x15
100, 115, 120, 125, 125/ 25,35,35,35,35
pullups + dips 3x20- bodyweight
shrugs (hammer strength machine) 5x20, 2 plates, 3 plates, 4 plates, 5 plates, 5 plates.
-----rest 15 min------
5 rounds of bagwork, really just worked on footwork and staying mobile. i have a bad habit of standing in front of my opponent waiting to bait them, im a pretty good counter puncher but i should use my natural speed to my advantage and be a moving target cause you can’t hit what you can’t see, float like a butterfly, sting like a bee ![]()
5 rounds of intervals on the rowing machine, kept heart rate above 180, honestly, was a peace of cake, i dont know if i should try to keep it above 190 or what.
used one minute rests today will go back down to 30seconds next week cause that was almost TOO easy, 1 min rest and my heart rate went from 180 to 109 and it was an active rest…so holy shit im in shape but i think a fight pushes me past 180 cause that was almost coasting i have no fucking idea how im supposed to replicate a fight now…
if anyone has any ideas :-/
maybe im just getting used to the rowing machine…so switching to the stairmaster for tommorrow.
going to start doing bas rutten’s fight tapes again. also perhaps the complexes will push me. especially if use some sick weight, when i was heavier/slightly stronger i could do javorek complexes with 135 if i get up to that again (or better yet 155-185) christ i’d be a BEAST.
but i really only have one more week after this one of hard training b4 i need to rest up for fight night sooooo we’ll see.
FRONT SQUATS!!! WOOO!!!
get better soon man… i dont have the patience to post on that thread haha
3 rounds wallbag, powerpunching, last 30 seconds of the round 1-2 combo till finish, 30 seconds between rounds

3 rounds knees on short bag, skip knees, poke knees, curve knees.
3 rounds keep away using jab and teep to keep short bag at distance.
Interval #1:
15s. kbell thrusters
15s. jumprope
15s. lateral hops over barrier
15s. med ball plyo pushups
repeat.
5 rounds, 30s. rest
Interval #2:
10 burpees
Sprint down and back
10 plyo pushups
sprint down and back
15 diamond pushups
sprint down and back
10 tuck jumps
sprint down and back
…repeat two more times.
layed on ground for about 10min… now rest/eat/work till 7pm… train again tonight. I need to start going to sleep earlier, like 11 at the latest.
my gf apparently is family friends with one of the guys on the Lameco escrima ‘family tree’…christ she’s been hookin me up lately… anyway, he has taken a liking to me and seems willing to help me train for the next Dog Brothers “gathering” whenever im ready. I’m going to bring in some krabikrabong techniques ive been picking up too.
If i dont get any amateur fights for a while, or dont see any suitable bjj tourney’s then i guess this will be my outlet for meanwhile… i think there is one in may and november.
so we’ll see…
and yes i want to compete in fucking everything.
Tourney over the weekend…second in my weight (blue belt)…won my first match in the open weight and then was bracketed with a teammate so we flipped a coin for it and he got to go on. For some reason, no matter how good of shape I’m in before a tourney, the day after my body feels like hell.

i understand that shit for sure…
I would love to see a 280lbs bb vs a 120lbs tkd or aikido or whatever pancy art, in a MMA/NHB-bout. My money would be on the BB.
Size/strength works.

word. But really,ISN’T THERE A THREAD FOR THIS CRAP? There’s too many damn variables for that “discussion” anyways…and it doesn’t belong here.
10x3, pullups 90#, 1-2min rest
4x6, dumbbell ohpress 75#
5x10, incline press 65#
seated rows narrow grip 5x15
facepulls 3x15, 1x25
10min bagwork just working stuff not really cardio emphasis just hitting with power and trying combo variations working on my balance, timing and body awareness… making sure i was in good stance b4, during, and after… mobility was fine etc.
stairmaster
2min at hr of 180+ (level 20)
1min at hr of ~165 (level 10)
repeat 5x
^really going to help me to not have ‘dead legs’… i fucking hate that thing- seriously.
2min round on heavy bag…brawler style… heavy fast hard deathblows nonstop, double kick-teep-right hand-left hook- pivot out -cut kick- double jab then reverse it.
train with team tonight at 7… a LOT of stress lately. gf is really helping to get rid of it though- being absurdly patient with me. but i think i need to start meditating or something because im on edge all the time and i dont want to take it out on the wrong person.
Hi guys. Love this website I’ve learned so much from it. I’m a Muay Thai fighter living in Thailand. Here are a couple of my fights
I am suffering from a stress fracture in my foot so I’m going to have to take a break from the regular 6+ hours of Muay Thai training everyday. Thought I could use this time to improve my strength and explosivity using a weight routine.
To start off I’m thinking of a routine including pull ups, deadlifts(assuming it doesn’t cause pain in my foot), dumbbell clean and press, plie squats, dumbbell bench press in a punching motion, one arm dumbbell rows and dumbbell swings as well as continuing the core work I already do that includes things like Russian twists, lying hip swings etc
What sort of set and rep range do you think I should use? I’m not really looking to gain any weight (I’m happy being tall and skinny haha), so I’m guessing reps of 3-5 for 3 sets with long rest breaks? Any feedback would be really appreciated.
one arm bench press might be a little more applicable…
but yes 3-6 sets of 2-4 reps is your best range to stick to.
if you can’t do much else then lifting 3-4 days out of the week shouldnt be bad for you.
if you’re still going to hit the bag etc, then maybe 2-3x a week is best.
i like EDT (which you can search on this site) would work out pretty damn well for you.
but the above rep ranges should work out great.
good luck, and great vids! let us know how else everything is going for you and what your typical training day looks like!
Thanks for the advice! Yes I meant one arm bench press haha
Pretty much all I’m going to be doing is riding a bike and lifting weights. Usually my routine would be a 45 minute run/bike ride, 15 mins skipping, 15 mins shadow boxing, 3-5 rounds sparring, 5 rounds pad work, 30 minutes clinching then pull ups, 100 push ups, 200+ sit ups and other conditioning exercises. Then repeat again in the afternoon. So I have alot of time to fill up now I can’t do all that!
How many fights have you had Xen Nova? Got any coming up?
3 ammy fights, and shit a smoker fight every weekend for the past few months… march 22nd last smoker fight and then just amateur after that, hopefully go pro by 2009 and then you might see me in Thailand ![]()
i had plans to go this summer but we’ll see how they work out…
give me lil while and ill think about some stuff that might help u as far as lifting. its kinda late and i need to sleep… but, what kind of equipment do you have access to?
Cool, let me know if you come out here.
We have a pretty decent weight room here. Barbells, dumbbells, lots of different benches, a squat rack, pull down, leg curl/extension, dip and chin up bars, ab/adductor machine, decline bench
