Damn verlander got owned by the rangers yet again. Excuse my bias, and I know its early, but I would have to go with the Rangers as the beat team in the league right now. Ill go with the giants in the NL, all the peices there and theres no way they lose that division with the way the dodgers are playing.
Also what the yankess are doing, as much as i dislike them, is pretty amazing. Lets see if they can keep it up now that pettite is out too. IfIf they can stay close througbh the all star break they have a good chance of being a playoff team. However, they are not a threat for a WS title.[/quote]
I think the Rangers have a high chance of struggling down the stretch.
Berkman is not exactly a fountain of youth. Cruz can never really manage to stay on the field. I think they have trouble replacing both of those guys.

Yep.
Josh Hamilton’s missing bat will eventually catch up to you guys.
Fun to see the Indian’s bats take it to King Felix in person today, pushing his ERA back over 2. Masterson continuing to pitch well also. Starting to get a little faith that we might have staying power behind this decent start to the season, unlike a couple years back. I’m still super confused at Giambi having a spot in the lineup though(how do you have a DH who is hitting below .200, he’s not exactly making up for it with a sweet glove in the field…).
What’s also funny is that Jesus Montero has actually had a negative WAR since the trade. So technically, the Yankees are winning this trade because Pineda hasn’t pitched for the yankees yet.
In other news the dodgers new management has successfully spent $216mil to field the worst team in the NL West.
Andre Ethier is making $17 mil this year to handle his newly assigned platoon duties.
I always thought that trade for A-Gone, beckett, punto and Crawford was just horrendous, taking on $260mil for 3 injured veterans and a mediocre journeyman.while giving up prospects. I guess you can do that when your franchise goes for $2bn though.

Yet another Cardinals pitcher, Michael Wacha, will make his big league debut tomorrow night. He’s supposed to be special. Here’s the interesting thing, the Cards couldn’t have drafted him without the extra draft spot they got from the Angels after the Cards made Pujols a qualifying offer that he refused. I hope he gives me yet another way to put a positive spin on Pujols’ leaving.

I think most everyone sees the Angel’s signing Pujols to such a long term contract as a huge mistake. The guy was 32 with 2 bad knees when he signed and I’ve read he may even be older, lol. No chance that contract doesn’t come back to haunt them for many years.

Unless he turns things around in a hurry, I’d say that contract is already haunting them. On top of that, Josh Hamilton looks like he fucking relapsed. I can’t stand the fucking guy. All he is is one excuse after another. He can’t hit during the day because he has blue eyes, he can’t hit late in the season because he was going through dip withdrawal, he can’t hit because he was going through caffeine withdrawal, he can’t hit because he’s distracted by his latest relapse and the specter of his wife divorcing him because he has an overwhelming predilection for banging chicks ten years younger than him in shithole bar bathrooms, blah, blah, blah.

Ahahahaha, I remember when he used that blue eyes excuse…good lord that was the zenith of lameness.
I honestly think he is boozing again as well. As the angels you have to realize you a pulling an addict out of an area where his entire support system is. I’m sure he had all his family, friends, psychologists, psychiatrists, handlers and sponsors in Texas.
I guess no team can ever resist the numbers guys put up in contract years though…
Too bad he’s such a headcase. Guy is a once in a lifetime talent.
^^Cardinals, Reds and the Pirates all have better records than every other team in baseball. NL Central? I know it’s very very early, but still. This is awesome!

I think ATL will surge ahead at some point and never look back on the way to best record in baseball.
