Never said that, maybe you didnt read it but I said if everything breaks right the Yankees could win 90 games, if injuries continue to mount and age really effects them the way most say (or hope) it will it could be bad.
I guess hindsight is 20/20 of course but when he was MVP he was looking pretty good in pinstripes. Its certainly an albatross now…so revel in it if it makes you somewhat happier about your pathetic sports teams of your city.

Well, I for one am certainly reveling in it. Of course, neither the teams I root for nor the city they play in is pathetic. SF is DEFINITELY a better baseball town than NY right now. Home to the defending champs and I can tell you one thing: AT&T Park has NEVER been as empty for a game as Yankee Stadium was on Opening Day. It’s also never had an empty seat in the house during a playoff run. In fact, the best atmosphere in baseball is right there in AT&T Park and I don’t think the atmosphere in NY even comes close. This isn’t the Bronx Zoo days of the late 70’s anymore.
[/quote]
Ok, if that makes you happy. With regards to yankee stadium being empty on opening day, it wasnt empty per se it was freezing, and since the new Yankee Stadium is so much more than a ball park (unfortunately IMO) everyone was inside in bars and shit like that. The fact of the matter is the last stadium was as boisterous as any in baseball especially during big games and playoffs. Now the new stadium does not lend itself to being loud and obnoxious the way the older one was. Coupled with the ridiulous prices it has really has priced the fan of the older park out. If I wanted to take my wife and daughter and dad to a game, with decent seats Im dropping 300 - 400 bucks, which I have but prefer to use my money in other more pertinent ways
Edit
I love citifield and am going to a game on the 19th, I am not a fan of the new yankee stadium.

I never understood why they tore down the old stadium. Unless it was so structurally unsound it was going to collapse, just remodel it and update it. I dont think fenway is getting destroyed anytime soon…

Because property in NY is way too valuable to be sitting there idle not generating revenue

so refurbish the yankee stadium where Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, and DiMaggio played
It makes no sense to me to build a new stadium if the old one was in sound structural condition.

I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say a stadium built in 1923 is falling apart.
I never went to old Yankee Stadium but I can tell you Fenway is a POS. fun due to the crowds enthusiasm and how close you get because of how small it is but otherwise garbage.
I would bet the out of date concession stands were probably costing them money and the building probably caused a lot of logistical issues.
TL;DR the old stadium was costing them money.
The old yankee stadium was structurally fine, it was renovated in the 70s. It just wasn’t modern. Not enough other things to do besides watch a game, not enough room for restaurants and luxury boxes.
If Yankee ownership is gonna ass rape you for a decent ticket, then their justification lies in the new stadium. Ironically this wasn’t a privately funded stadium, and I kind of paid for it ,literally and I don’t like it.
interesting article from my favorite news source
Wow…13-0, 6 home runs, 3 by Middlebrooks, I would be embarrassed to be a Blue Jays fan…just sayin’ lol. At least they have a nice stadium ![]()

They HAD a nice stadium. Now, it’s more like a testament to a different era in MLB ballpark architecture that has thankfully withered and died.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I didn’t realize that it was Dickey who got pounded! Looks like he’s reverted back to his old ways. There’s been a lot of knuckleballers over the years. Virtually none in recent memory have been any good at all for an extended period of time, the Niekros and Wakefield being the exception. And NO ONE turns into a legit ace at the tender young age of 37, especially not a knuckleballer. I have a strong feeling that this is going to be a pretty typical outing for Dickey this year. I may be proven wrong, but I doubt it.
Indians took it to David Price today 13-0. They should be in the hunt this year for the central.
^Yeah looks like the central is up for grabs with the Tigers starting slow.

Yeah man that was pretty brutal.
It was actually a terrible day for aces all around. Price, Dickey and Hamels all gave up 8 runs today and Strasburg gave up 6.
If he’s still having terrible starts mid-May I’ll begin to panic. Right now I think it’s just about him getting back into form.
Matt Cain gave up 9 runs in 3.2 IP today.
Anti-ace day
I’m watch Darvish in the 1st inning and he’s throwing pitches all over the place. Lets see if he tanks too

I liked the Trevor Bauer trade. Their pitching staff blows though.

He gave up all nine in one inning. The only time in Giants franchise history that has happened, aside from one other starter who did it back in 1902 against the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. Seriously, that’s what they were called back then.
Who let John Kruk in the announcers booth? Guy is freaking annoying.

You watch your mouth.
Just finished watching the Rangers-Angels game. I think Weaver is going to pull a Lincecum this year. You can’t lose 5 MPH of your fastball and expect to be as effective. Most of the time, when guys try to go from power pitcher to finnesse pitcher, it fails miserably.
