MLB Season 2011

^ Meh, it’s still just talk. People are probably just still making offers and they don’t want to risk him getting injured before the trade deadline.

Nope. He’s been taken out of the game and received hugs from all his teammates in the dugout. I doubt they were congratulating him on giving up four runs in the 1st.

Wow TWELVE hour delay lol. None of your 3 posts showed up for me until just now, and I looked at this thread like thirty minutes ago so I know it’s been about 12 hours. Wow

Same, it’s been happening for a long time too. I think if you’ve had posts removed the in the past maybe they mods read all your posts before allowing them to be posted.

This is the sort of trade the Indians have to take the risk on. They have a very good chance of making the playoffs this year and Ubaldo is relatively young and controllable. For a team like Cleveland they really will only have 1 or 2 years at a run for a title, it only makes sense to go all in when those chances arise.

Trade deadline today.

What are the chances the Yankees and Red Sox pulling off 0 deals at the deadline?

Holy shit. The Indians just landed Ubaldo Jimenez.

I don’t understand this trade at all. I don’t know what kind of prospects they got in return other than that one of the pitchers they landed is the top pitching prospect in Cleveland’s organization. But he’s only in Double-A right now and probably won’t be ready for another year. Unless they got the Indians top three or four prospects or the Rockies know something about Jimenez and his health that we don’t know, this trade doesn’t make sense to me.

If I’m Tulowitzki and Gonzalez I’d be pretty pissed right now. They both signed long-term deals without testing the free agent market first and I assume they signed early like that because they think the Rockies will be competitive for the next several years at least. But without Jimenez, with de la Rosa not expected to be back for a year and not much else to speak of, pitching-wise, it’s going to take some serious offseason moves to get back into contention next year. One of those moves would have to be to go after a big-time free agent pitcher. Which is stupid because there isn’t going to be anyone available in the offseason of Jimenez’ caliber AND at the relatively low price that Jimenez would have cost them through 2014. I just don’t get this.[/quote]

The Rockies apparently do not hold Ubaldo’s abilities in high regard and must consider last year an aberration. i can’t understand why else you would do such a deal, especially when you have a decent team already.

Giants just traded for Orlando Cabrera.

He’s not anything special but definitely an upgrade over Tejada.

I also like the move the Braves made acquiring Bourn.

The Jays and Giants are working on a deal to send Jose Molina to the Giants. Apparently the Jays are holding off until they are sure they can secure Chris Iannetta from the Rockies before trading away Molina.

This would actually be a smart move by the Giants if they can get him for a decent price IMO. Jose Molina only plays a 1/3 of the time but seems to always do something positive at the plate every time he plays and has a great arm.

We collect old people.

I’ve turned myself in to a bit of a Braves fan just by considering the question about my favorite team, and the posts I’ve made after it. Looking forward to seeing what Bourn can do, that lineup’s not half bad.

To this point Ubaldo hasn’t been traded. Wonder what’s the hold up, I know he’s got his physical today maybe something is wrong with Ubaldo.

The Rangers get Mike Adams for Wieland and Erlin. NOT Heath Bell.

Red Sox just got Erik Bedard

Good for the Rangers. Mike Adams is a stud and will be also secured for the following year. Probably one of the best set up guys in baseball. I’m glad he went to a team I can root for.

Clay Bucholz has just been put on the 60 day DL with a stress fracture in his low back. He might miss the rest of the season.

What do you guys think of the Red Sox pitching going forward with

  1. Lester
  2. Beckett
  3. Lackey
  4. Bedard

A good 1-2. Lackey is sometimes good…Bedard has pitched well this year when he’s healthy…I kinda don’t have a good feeling about him though. They’ve also got Wakefield, who has been decent this year. I think with Lester and Beckett doing well, and even mediocre contributions from their other starters, they’ve still gotta feel pretty comfortable. Lotta offensive potential.

No, just no.

I will admit I was wrong about Beckett, he’s still good, looks like he has completely recovered from last years injury.

You can tell Lackey has a lot on his mind.
