*31 home runs

Did not believe he had ANY chance of extending his success in to this year, not at the rate he went last year. Gladly ignored him in all of my fantasy baseball drafts. Whoops.

The announcers were saying he is the first player to ever lead the league in Home Runs, Slugging %, On base % and Walks going into the All-Star game. He’s leading in 2 others categories but they weren’t mentioned.
No offense is probably worse than the Padres this year. How do you lose 1-0 two games and a row and they didn’t give up a hit until 2 outs in the 9th inning!

DBCooper: Rays are 10 games over .500 with only a handful of games left before the break. Are you sticking with your prediction that they’ll finish below .500?
What the fuck do you think? Of course not. Was I wrong? It’ll probably turn out that way. So what? Do you have a point?
What the fuck is the point of this thread if we can’t make and call out people on their predictions? Didn’t you point out several times how wrong I was about the Giants last playoffs?
In the NBA thread I had Mavs fans rub it in my face after they won because I picked the Heat and was adamant they stomp the Mavs. I didn’t get upset it’s part of the fun in discussing the sport.
Lighten the fuck up. Seriously.

After randman left, agree 100%.

I don’t beileve that for even a half second. Bonds in 2004?? Not to mention Pujols, Ruth, etc.
That being said, I didn’t think there was any chance Bautista would do this again. I thought he’d be a 35-38 homer guy, somewhere between his output last year and his previous averages…whoops

There have been individuals who have had more in each of those categories individually but not lead the rest of league in all of them at once going into the break. I believe Bonds had 39HRs going into the All Star Break in 2001 for instance.
Did they even keep track of all those stats back in Ruth’s day?
Jayson Werth is fucking terrible. $130M on a guy struggling to hit .200, he’s (unofficially) obliterating the MLB record for outs in the 9th inning of close games. Came up in bottom 9 today, down 1, 1 out with runners on the corners… there was no doubt in my mind he’d ground into a game-ending double play. And he did.
I can’t believe we’re sitting around .500 and our best three hitters have been Laynce Nix, Mike Morse, and Danny Espinosa

All you need to know is walks, hits, doubles/triples/homers

I felt the same pain… for one year. Remember the Hedo Turkoglu signing?
Worst part is he’ll still be on the payroll in his 40’s.

Ignored Bautista, but made sure to get Werth in multiple leagues! Always got him later in the draft, definitely felt good about getting away with such a steal.
Whoops.
Goddamnit. Apparently Bruce Bochy is close to bringing that fucking quitter, JIm Riggleman, onto the Giants’ coaching staff. Fuck that guy. If I was a player, I’m not sure I’d be too thrilled to have a guy who quit on his team come join my team.
Jeter goes yard for #3000. Also goes 5 for 5 to reach 3003. Cool fan returns ball to Jeter. Hard to believe he is the FIRST Yankee to hit 3000.

Josh Hamilton Walk Off - To make it even more dramatic, and what you don’t see. is that Hamilton was on deck when Elvis Andrus reached first on a 2 out error.
^ that was nice. I wonder if Josh Hamilton gives a fuck that the ball he threw to a fan was the one that killed him. Not his fault of course but still.

Local reports say he was vary affected by it, but, you know, life goes on.

You wonder if he “gives a fuck?” But still what? He threw a ball to a guy who fell to his death, in front of his 6 y/o son, trying to catch it. Who WOULDN’T give a fuck? What kind of monster are you to think that there is any possibility that someone with a goddamned heart behind their breastplate and a motherfucking conscious would be anywhere close to ambivalent about something like that? I wasn’t even there and I give a fuck. Do you?
