So Jayson Werth was showered with boos last night against the Phillies.
Personally If I were a Phillies fan, I definitely wouldn’t boo the guy. Some team was just retarded enough to offer him a ludicrous amount of money.

So I heard on the pregame show some talk of the Giants possibly exploring a trade for Jose Reyes. Not sure if it’s legit or if I just caught the tail end of Steinmetz’s response to some of Greg Papa’s incoherent ramblings. But if it’s true…[/quote]
Yea this rumor’s been stirring since summer actually, and has started to pick up serious steam with Tejada’s Cement Glove worthy play. I have no clue if the front office cares much for it, but fans and radio hosts are definitely giving it life.
I think there are better ‘bang for our buck’ options though at SS. We could put anything out there to replace Tejada though and it would be an upgrade.

Yeah, but with that speed Reyes is a triple waiting to happen every time he steps in the box in Pac Bell Park. I agree though, anything is an upgrade over Tejada at this point. I gotta admit, I thought he’s be better than this. He seems to have fallen off as a hitter significantly since last year.
But I’ve been pining for the Giants to get Reyes for a couple years now. He’d be a perfect fit in that park. Can you imagine a 1 through 4 next year of Reyes, Sanchez, Sandoval and Posey, with Belt maybe batting fifth?
And speaking of Belt, apparently the Giants are close to calling him back up again. He’s hitting almost .600 in Fresno since he was demoted, his ob% is almost .700 and his slugging% is somwhere around .850.

That’s only half the story. After the boos subsided he was given a standing ovation, and then another standing ovation when he took right field in the bottom of the 1st inning. He even tipped his hat a couple times to the fans.
It was a “Hey, you’re in our house so we’ll boo you, but we do appreciate what you contributed here” type response.

I called it when they signed him man, he’s past his expiry date.
I haven’t see Cody Ross bat this year, how has he looked?
Anyone watch Verlander’s no hitter against the Blue Jays?
I saw the end. Good stuff. No hitter number 2 so far this year.
nope, was studying. Glad I missed it. ![]()
But I Guess that’s what happens when you throw up a lineup without Jose Bautista.
I didn’t see it, but I was kinda following it on the Internet. He and Jaime Garcia are on my fantasy team and them both carrying perfect games into the 8th has catapulted me into a big lead over the last two days. I also had Gio Gonzalez going for me yesterday and he was dominant, as is Bumgarner for me right now.
But Verlander, fuck! I saw on ESPN he was throwing 101 in the 7th inning! He’s definitely one of the top pitchers in the game, but I don’t understand how he hasn’t been able to take things into Lincecum/Halladay/Lee/Hernandez territory yet. He’s had good seasons, but with his stuff I’d expect a little more from him.
So who is the pitcher with the best stuff in the bigs right now? Based on pure stuff more than results, I’d have to say either Verlander or Ubaldo Jimenez.
Great form tackle by the security guard. That dude was on his game.
What do people think about Cleveland and Kansas City this year?

To be honest I haven’t really seen much of either team. Looks like Cleveland hasn’t really played anyone yet(they swept the Red Sox at the beginning of the season) other than Kansas City and The Angels. Same thing for Kansas City. I’m guessing one of the other AL Central teams will start heating up.
Hey WestCoast. What do you think of Nate Schierholtz right now? He looks like he’s swinging the bat with much more authority and bat speed this year. He’s already probably the best defensive outfielder on the team. Do you envision him playing his way into a starting position on a more permanent basis, or is he perhaps playing his way into being part of a trade for Jose Reyes?
I’ve always liked him, mostly because he plays rightfield at Pac Bell Park better than anyone else I’ve seen in eleven seasons there, except for maybe Randy Winn. I heard him say in an interview earlier this week that he battled a nagging shoulder injury all last year. I never noticed that last year, but after seeing him pull the ball with authority rather than try to slap everything to left and end up overmatched on good fastballs on the inner half, it looks like he’s healed up and is a much better hitter as a result. You think this might keep Belt down longer?
Haven’t been payin a whole lotta attention to baseball while the Bulls are still in the NBA playoffs, but I can’t believe the Nats are still nearly .500. Livan “Meatball” Hernandez must lead the league in hard line drives hit directly at our fielders. Safe to say I don’t think he’ll end the season with an ERA on the right side of 5.
Fun while it lasts though. Great stadium there too.

How long is Zimmerman out for?
And yeah. I went down for a Nats/Phils game last year and was really impressed by the stadium. We had sweet tickets in RF up the foul line. I completely had to stop myself from flashing Werth the whole game.
Really nice fans too. My daughter missed a foul ball during batting practice because we were chatting up an older couple sitting by us. The guy felt so bad he went to talk to the usher and was able to get her a ball. It was really nice.

5-6 weeks, it’s always something with that guy the last few years. To be honest I’m skeptical or keeping him here long term with his injury history (though I’d rather pay him $130M than Werth).
So you were one of those damn philly fans invading our stadium? I would’ve given your daughter a nice shot to the kisser.
In all seriousness - I hate Phillies/Cubs games where we are outnumbered. But it’s a city of transplanted people so you kinda have to expect it. And I’m signing myself up for a big taste of this, getting a bunch of friends of mine in town for the memorial day Phils-Nats game.
Did you see the Capitol Building from your spot? It’s viewable from upper level 1B side.
Don’t ask Scj about the WSH Nationals, he’s not a fan of them he’s just lived Washington for 3.5 years. ![]()

Well perhaps if the president of your team didn’t get on Philly radio a few years back and basically say, “You can’t get seat for CBP, so come down to our stadium. We’ve got a ton!!” things might be different ![]()

Haha yeah, I was gonna add to that to my post and forgot while I was typing. There was a huge backlash down here from all the people/bloggers/media outlets. Stan is a goof and our owners are pretty universally reviled down here.

Haha, unlike bball I fell out from baseball fandom for a while growing up (namely when I moved to PA from Cali and no longer could watch the A’s… plus the baseball strike… etc.) I got into fantasy baseball in college, which got me back into watching games, then I moved here and started going to a bunch of nats games.
Plus, if you have a few beers, saying “Go Nats” kind of sounds like “Gonads”…so we have that going for us.
