The Sillies arent going anywhere. Not because I am a Met fan (insert your collapse joke here). They just arent good enough. Bullpen is great but if Howard doesnt hit then they lose. Guys like Werth, Burrel and Rollins can carry them in that Tiny ass ballpark as well but I dont see it happening. It was the Mets falling on their face more than the Phillies playing exceptionally well that got them in. I hope they lose the first series like they did last year.
My prediction:
Cubbies and Rays and everyone will watch.
You didn’t even mention Chase Utley. Hence, you lose all credibility. Not to mention it wasn’t the Mets collapsing this time (like it was last year). The Phils were the hottest team in baseball over the last 3 weeks or so.
We swept the Brewers in a 4 game series a couple weeks ago. You think we’re losing to them in a 5 game serious now?
We make the championship series. I’d be willing to place a bet on it.
with 2 homers in September I think Chase Utley loses all credibility. Bottom line is this: if the Mets close half of the games they blew (29) then they win the East by 5 games. The Phillies can be as hot as they want- if the Mets win those games it doesnt matter. However they didnt, so its their fault, not the Sillies play super hot ball to get them in. Oh and who ever designed their alternate jerseys should be shot.

If you’re going to play the “If the Mets would have done this” game, I could easily say the same for the Phillies. You don’t think the Phillies blew 5 games all year which would make up that deficit?
Over 162 games, you can bet your ass the best team will win the division. There are simply too many games to fluke your way into it.
I see you completely avoided my bet statement as well.
Phillies
OPS: 0.770
Runs: 799 (in 133 fewer PAs)
ERA: 3.89
Run differential: 119
Mets
OPS: 0.760
Runs: 799
ERA: 4.07
Run differential: 84
Phillies FTW.
Maybe the reason the Mets collapsed was because they have the worst bullpen in the league while the Phillies had the best in the NL during the regular season?

Well the facts are that Lidge was 41/41 in save chances- so I can make that point because they had a bullpen and NY didnt. That solidifies my point- you cant argue with the facts. I do agree with your second statement though. Look at the Rockies of last year- all you have to do is hang around and you can get in with timely quality baseball.
I"m not betting anything except that they wont make it to the world series- i know that the NL has a better team to represent it than Philly.
Angels and Cubs lost. It’s not looking good for either team. At least the Angels have an excuse that the Sox always dominate them in the playoffs. Cubs just flat out stunk it up.
Well I must say I’m happy about last night’s results with the Sox. Jon Lester continues to impress and climb his way up to the echelon of top pitchers in the MLB.

The Cleveland Indians actually retired the #455, which was the number of consecutive sellouts at Jacobs field in the 90’s. Always felt that was classy.
That is pretty cool. I think it’s great when teams do something like that. I think it was 2005, the Brewers charged no admission for the home finale – free to all. I thought that was great,
As a Brewer fan, I can say - the Brewers could barely give tickets away at that point. But no one else can say that. Only me, as a fan.

2005 was a decent year. It’s when things started coming around. Attanasio’s first year as owner.

I love the Cubs…I fucking love them, but God help us…They are pathetic. Best in the league during regular season, and blow it post season. Ridiculous. Game 3 today…It’s all or nothing now.
LMAO at the Cubs, what a joke that team is. Did Soriano even get a hit in the playoffs? It’s good to see the Cubs lose even though i don’t really like the Dodgers either.
I can’t stand the Dodgers mainly because of the ass raping that Manny gave to the Sox. Dogging it in all facets in the game to force a trade because you are a little cry baby about your upcoming contract and the $20 million options you are facing is just plain criminal.
This is right up there with gambling in baseball as far as destroying the integrity of the games played. No matter what your situation is you can’t quit on your teammates and your fans because of an upcoming contract year.
I would love to see a Josh Becket vs. Manny at bat in the first inning of game 1 of the world series. I couldn’t imagine that Manny would be too comfortable standing in that batters box. Never mind the anal raping he’s going to get from the Fenway crowd.
