I hate the cubs, so I’m actually hoping for another Steve Bartman incident.

I am going say Rays over the Cubs in 6. Being a Yankee fan, I would definitely like to see an AL team win it.
The Sillies arent going anywhere. Not because I am a Met fan (insert your collapse joke here). They just arent good enough. Bullpen is great but if Howard doesnt hit then they lose. Guys like Werth, Burrel and Rollins can carry them in that Tiny ass ballpark as well but I dont see it happening. It was the Mets falling on their face more than the Phillies playing exceptionally well that got them in. I hope they lose the first series like they did last year.
My prediction:
Cubbies and Rays and everyone will watch.

No love for the Angels. All they did was compile the best record in the majors and clinch about 2 1/2 weeks early.
Angels vs Cubs, Angels in 5
And they also play in the worst divison in all of Baseball. So when your the only team that is above .500 you should clinch 2 1/2 weeks early…right? [/quote]
Their division is pretty bad, but this is how they fared against possible playoff teams in the AL.
vs. Twins 5-3
vs. Red Sox 8-1
vs. Rays 3-6
vs. White Sox 3-3
With that said they are 19-13 against playoff or possible playoff teams in the AL. Those are good numbers and they do have homefield advantage.

You didn’t even mention Chase Utley. Hence, you lose all credibility. Not to mention it wasn’t the Mets collapsing this time (like it was last year). The Phils were the hottest team in baseball over the last 3 weeks or so.
We swept the Brewers in a 4 game series a couple weeks ago. You think we’re losing to them in a 5 game serious now?
We make the championship series. I’d be willing to place a bet on it.

We? What position do you hold with the team?

That means jack in the playoffs though IMO
Well it’s 1-0 Chicago going into the bottom of the 8th with the Sox coming up.

What is a team without the fans? We pretty much pay their salary.

I guess. And, yeah, I know a lot of teams like the “we” thing. They try to make the fan feel like part of the team. But it still always annoys me.
I always like to ask the “we” fans what they personally did wrong after a loss. Or what they could have done better.

I agree with the “we” thing, but I sometimes say it as well without even thinking about it. The Cleveland Indians actually retired the #455, which was the number of consecutive sellouts at Jacobs field in the 90’s. Always felt that was classy.
FWIW, I see the Angels or the White Sox taking it this year. Solid pitching and big bats. That’s how to win playoff baseball there.

That is pretty cool. I think it’s great when teams do something like that. I think it was 2005, the Brewers charged no admission for the home finale – free to all. I thought that was great,

Agreed. And I’m always down with dollar dog and beer games. One fourth of July I still spend like $20. Lol.
I guess this ought to be the Angels’ year, but I have doubts about them getting past Boston, who has owned them in the playoffs. If the Red Sox take Game 1 … it might be Game Over for LAA.
I can’t see the Brewers knocking off Philly, unless CC pitches every freaking game. ha!
I like Tampa over the White Sox, but who the hell knows how the Rays will react to a playoff atmosphere? Either they’ll be loose and things will go well or they’ll tighten up and goodbye playoffs.
Cubs (better pitching) should beat the Dodgers, but with Manny in the lineup … who the hell knows?!

I’m reaching here, but we could have paid more for our tickets to give the Phils more money to spend on better players.
Of course, this really only works in baseball because there is no salary cap.

Okay, that got me to laugh.
Gotta get ready soon. Game 1 is in 45 minutes.

I’ll be doing a pitch by pitch recap in this very thread.
On another note, what’s with the playoff day games? I’d much rather watch this on TV at night as opposed to listen on the radio at work during the day.

I’m actually glad this one is a day game. I need to go into work later tonight. I can actually watch this one since it’s a day game.
Go Rays - after 10 years of dreck. Goofy catwalks and obnoxious cowbells in a 80’s-style dome will be a large enough homefield advantage to win the series.
GO CUBS! I’ve been cheering for these Mother F-ers for 30 damn years! I’m pray’n they get it done this year!
