MLB Playoff Thread

Cy Young award should go to Tim Lincecum, I think he really deserves it, even though the giants suck so much, but hey I’m a huge bay area sports fan… go figure…

I would love to see a Josh Becket vs. Manny at bat in the first inning of game 1 of the world series. I couldn’t imagine that Manny would be too comfortable standing in that batters box. Never mind the anal raping he’s going to get from the Fenway crowd.

What a shit head![/quote]

i’d also love to see this but i think you’re wrong about manny…he’d like nothing more than to jack a few against the red sox while they’re still signing his paycheck. how many guys have ever even had a chance of doing that ?

Sox walk off win bottom of the 9th

Sox vs. Rays for ALCS

I’m gonna tell you a story
I’m gonna tell you about my town
I’m gonna tell you a big bad story, baby
Aww, it’s all about my town

As being a native San Diegan who hates and rivals the Dodgers, i’d rather see the Red Sox get knocked out before the Dodgers. I can’t stand the team nor their arrogant fans.

On another note, how can you not root for the Rays to win. Such an incredible story from what happened to them a year ago. That plus their payroll is what like 40 something million.

Because I’m an arrogant Sox fan.

As a bitter Orioles fan, it’s very easy for me to not want the Rays to win. With the poor fan attendance and shithole stadium, Tampa/St, Pete doesn’t deserve a team. The only reason they have a team in the first place is because it’s warm in Florida. The Gay Rays of Tampa Bay need to resume their position at the bottom of the AL East.

Yes, I’m a hater and I don’t care.

Go Phillies!

Phillies > Dodgers

They’re both playing very well right now. It should be a good series. If the Phillies win, it would probably be one of the happiest moments of my adult life.

I don’t want the Rays to win BECAUSE of their low payroll. It discourages the small market teams from spending and encourages them to stay perennial losers. It encourages Pittsburgh and Kansas City to stay at the bottom and be misers.

If the Rays win, it’s just a one year fluke. They are not going to be a yearly playoff team with that payroll. Their star players will leave for bigger salaries.

Milwaukee is finally starting to spend some money and be aggressive and try to get competitive. I don’t want them look and Tampa and think they can really be a good team without spending some money.

The Rays might win. When you pick first overall for like 10 years in a row you are bound to have some decent prospects in your system.

The thing is their payroll won’t be this low for too long. Guys like Evan Longoria are going to get paid within the next year or two and their payroll will increase. Teams that build themselves up from the farm system tend to have lower payrolls and that is a good thing.

I’m not a fan of teams that go out and spend all this money on free agents. The Dodgers have been doing it for years with guys like Andrew Jones and Jason Schmidt who have stunk it up or been injured. Luckily they have some young talent on their team this year to go with a couple of veterans they traded for and it paid off.

I meant to add that point in my post. The players will either leave for more money or stay for more money. Their payroll for this group of players is small because they were mostly caught early in their career.

i’m also a phillies fan and i don’t think we’ve seen yet the game this team can bring- their best ball can still be ahead and that’s a pretty awesome combo of hitting and gold gloves…that said the dodgers have been playing happy-ball and nobody beats happy-ball…the only chance we have is for them to become self-aware and pop their own bubble…that could be tough, especially when they have manny, but not impossible.

go phils!

So the first 2 games in the Sox Rays series have been fantastic.

last night was an awesome game.

That Sox win is why I LOVE playoff baseball.

What a game. Biggest comeback in ALCS history I believe.
