Serially, and I imagine they’ll be chocking all over that field.

I’m not going to lie, I already feel defeated. The chances are pretty slim for the Phils to win 3 in a row.

Did the philly press rip manuel for not starting Lee? What was the popular opinion of that?

The press didn’t say much about it one way or the other. Most people’s reactions were mixed depending on what they think of Joe Blanton. I like Blanton and Sabathia doesn’t make me too nervous so I was behind the decision.

The Phils have just got to start hitting better. It’d be nice if we could get some home runs that aren’t solo shots. The Phils offense is built around the long ball, they’re not going to win if they aren’t getting people on base before they hit those home runs.

Alright. That surprises me a little, I figured most people would have been screaming for Lee to pitch.

And yes, the dreaded solo homer. Yankee fans learned the hardway from 03-08 that solo homers dont help without quality pitching and good fundamentals. I think the phillies are hitting fine considering it’s the world series. The level of competition is highest and teams simply aren’t going to have .300 averages with 2 homers a game (even in CBP). They’re getting outplayed in the other facets of the game.

No doubt about that, but normally they’re hitting makes up for everything else they lack. I guess I’m just bitter.

Everyone is back on the “Chuckles is the worst manager in baseball” kick this morning, but I really didn’t hear that many people saying anything about Lee starting over Blanton until this morning.

Personally I don’t have a problem with Lee not going on 3 days rest. The way the bull pen has been, we need him to come out with another 9 inning outing and I don’t see that happening on short rest. I am more upset that Blanton got the start over Happ. Oh, and of course the Hamels melt down is not helping my mood either.

The Phils have looked flat this entire home series and I am holding the fans personally responsible. A lot of this is jealousy that I can’t afford to go to a WS game, but I was disgusted by how quiet the stands have been; particularly last night.

This whole season the players have been praising the fans for giving the Phils “home field advantage” and they sat on their hands last night. I know those 2 runs in the first were tough to take, but you have to get behind your team and lift them up. This was C.C. on the mound. Everyone was going around beating their chests that we knocked him out in the NLDS last year and then there was nothing last night. For shame.

I have to think that the players were really looking forward to getting cheered on when they returned home and getting the silent treatment is affecting their play. When they show shots of the dug out everyone looks defeated; they are not having fun out there.

This team is much better than they are playing at the moment and need to turn it around. I knew going into it that this was going to be a tough series. I can handle a loss if the Phils play well and the other team is just better, but the Phils are not playing their game. They have allowed the Yankees to dictate the tempo of the game and are just pressing way too much now.

This has been a rough weekend. I need a nap.

Let’s go Phillies…it’s time to kick it up a notch. Obviously if they lose tonight it’s over, so it’s time to turn things around. Hopefully with great help from lee, they will be able to do so tonight, I dunno we’ll see.

2 more…cmon philly!!

Phils bats were alive tonight.

I wonder how hard the criticism is going to be for pitching burnett on 3 days rest.

Myers and Hamels get into a confrontation. Thoughts?

Hamels has been babied all year long, it’s about time someone told him to man up.

I don’t think it had anything to do with 3 days rest. They showed Burnett’s career stats pitching on 3 days rest and he was 3-0 with a 1.something ERA. It’s just that Burnett has always been, and probably always will be, inconsistent. Like I posted earlier in this thread, Yank fans never know what to expect out of that guy.

According to Leslie Guidel this morning (who was interviewing Cole at the time), Myers walked past Hamels’ locker on his way to the trainer and said that in a joking tone. Obviously Hamels was not amused, told him to “Fuck off”, and they both continued on with their day. According to Leslie, that is as far as the “confrontation” went.

The media is going to make a huge deal out of this, but I think it is a non-issue. This is a very minor confrontation between two guys who, in all likelihood, will not throw another pitch the rest of this year. OK, Myers might still pick up an inning or two, but they cannot let Hamels back on that mound this year; particularly not in Yankee Stadium.

I know this technically doesn’t have anything to do with the WS, but it is funny as hell.

Lol, this reminds me of the painting of Ben Stiller grabbing the bull by the horns in Dodgeball.

I’m actually not as upset this morning as I thought I would be. There are some issues that the Phils need to address in the off season, but all-in-all I cannot be too mad that they made back to back World Series appearances.

Congratulations to the Yankees fans I have spoken with who actually know baseball; it was a pleasure to debate the pros and cons of each team.

And now begins a long, cold winter without baseball. sigh.

FML

What a bitter way to end that series from a Phillies fan perspective…we literally watched us slowly lose for 7 innings. Hats off to Matsui and Pettite, cause both of those guys came out to play…still don’t understand why Pedro continued to pitch to him…oh well.

Pedro Feliz, on the other hand…way to blow 3 separate opportunities to drive in runners in scoring position. Talk about flopping on the occasion. Howard arrived a day late and a dollar short, and I don’t know if anyone realized he broke the record for most strikeouts in a world series. Utley almost broke the homerun record…would have been nice.

While we can’t really complain since we won it all last year, it still blows major monkey nuts to lose to the Yankees. If I hear a douchebag yankees fan give me shit (you guys know the type), I might have to break their nose on the spot…this won’t wash off for me for a little while.

PHILLIES '10!!!

:frowning:

POOP.

I was calling for his head last night, too, but we have him there for his defense. At this point I’m not sure if his defense is worth his lack of offense, it’s a tough call.
