And here’s to them burying the fucking Yankees in New York in four.

A sweep is looking very likely. The Yankees offense looked old and frail against Sanchez, and now they have to face Verlander. 3-0 Tigers.

A Tigers Cards WS would be pretty cool.

Arod is a real man A-Rod plays field

I sincerely hope he was going after the one on the left

Is there a better atmosphere in baseball than the one in AT&T Park on a nightly basis? I haven’t been to enough stadiums to really know, but I doubt it. I’ve been to Fenway and that’s just a bunch of cheap shit if you ask me. “Sweet Caroline”? Give me a fucking break. And the whole role call thing at Yankee Stadium? Are there two more hokey, contrived traditions in baseball? I think not.

Wrigley Field? I guess the atmosphere is great if you’re a fan of the visitors since they’re most likely going to be kicking the Cubs’ ass that day. Besides, like the great Lee Elia said, 85% of the world is employed and the other 15% are the cocksuckers that go out to Wrigley for some day baseball.

St. Louis? Well, to be honest they’d probably give SF a run for its money, at the least. Dodger Stadium? Fuck that place. One of the worst atmospheres for baseball, actually. Half the crowd doesn’t even give a fuck what’s going on down on the field and the other half DO give a fuck but don’t understand what’s going on.

No, I’d have to say San Francisco is the best baseball atmosphere in the league, other than maybe St. Louis.[/quote]

LOL spoken like a true SF fan

mmm not really. Don’t want to the Cardinals to win as I hate them for some reason. And fuck the Tigers obviously as they beat out the White Sox.

Wrigley Field is just the worst. As someone who lives 15 minutes away from it, God, it’s just the worst. Even Wrigleyville at night is terrible. People are starting to realize this, little by little, and it’s not the ‘go-to’ spot on the weekends anymore.

so does Brian Wilson like metal, or what’s the deal?

Wrigley Field is a shithole. The only reason it gets talked about so much is because the team that plays there is not worth talking about. Sure it has history, But that’s about it. The concessions are shitty. The place is pretty much filthy.

As far as Wrigleyville…fuck that place too. Just a place for idiots who miss living in a frat house.

You’ve peed at Wrigley Field, I’m guessing? Just awful. People’s pee splashes back up onto your hand. Try story.

Kinda cheapened your argument using some poor examples. LA is a basketball town, had we compared the LAL or even LAC atmospheres to GSW SF would’ve been crushed.

You can say the Giants have a better stadium atmosphwere than the Jays too but that’s because Toront is a hockey town. There is a 10 year waitlist for season tickets.

As annoying as some of the traditions the Red Sox, at least they sellout their playoff games.

NYY fanbase has shown it’s true colours this season through 1) not selling out their playoff games and 2) booing Robinson Cano (are you kidding me?!?)

They had terrible attendance in the early 90’s pre-Steinbrenner too, it’s obvious NYers are just a bunch of sceners and not true baseball fans.

You’re forgetting one thing though, Raj. San Francisco is a FOOTBALL town. Baseball is much bigger there than it was 15 years ago, but the 49ers have always been the #1 team in the Bay Area and the Raiders and Niners are both more popular than the A’s and Giants. The Niners’ game against the Bills had a higher TV rating in the Bay Area than any of the Giants’ or A’s postseason games so far, and I think one of the postseason games was being played at the same time as the Bills game.

I don’t know what the waiting list is for the 49ers season tickets since they’re going into a new stadium in 2014. A lot of current season ticket holders may not renew their tickets due to the large PSL fees and quadrupling of the per-game cost of each ticket.

But as recently as 5 or 6 years ago there was about a 20-year wait for season tickets to the Niners.

Regardless, I don’t think there are many places in baseball at all that can rival the atmosphere in AT&T Park. And the fact is that in any city with a football team AND a baseball team in it, other than maybe Chicago, NY and/or Boston, the football team is going to be the more popular team.

Is the atmosphere in Philly better? I’ve been there and it sucks. The fans are too negative and the only reason they boo now is because they’re expected to due to the city’s reputation. All the booing these days is a contrived reflection of the fans’ passion.

We all saw the Wilson is wearing the Back to the Future Nikes in the pic at the top of this page, right?

He’s cooler than all of us.

100%

What do you guys think of Holliday’s slide into second base? Obviously I’m biased as hell, but I think regardless of what teams were involved that was a dirty play, period. Holliday didn’t even get to the ground until after he’d passed right over the bag. You play the bag, not the player.

What sucks is that the Giants really have no recourse to get some well-deserved payback. One ball up and in on Holliday and warnings are issued and then the inside part of the plate is gone against that guy. I think this is something that will get handled next year. I’d like to see Bumgarner drill him and watch those two big fuckers go at it right in the middle of the diamond. My money’s on Bumgarner.

I’ve been to both Wrigley field and AT&T ballpark and thought the atmosphere at Wrigley was amazing. This was about 3 years ago or so when both teams weren’t really that great. From what I see, it looks like AT&T ballpark has a lot more people at the games ever since the won the World Series. Cubs fans still showed up in masses even when they sucked ass.

The Giants still drew about 38,000 per game back then. The only reason Wrigley is ever sold out is because of the stadium itself and has nothing to do with anything going on out on the field.

I didn’t see last nights game but from what I heard the Giants players didnt really consider it a dirty play by their interviews. Of course Mccarver and a few others were pushing it into something bigger than it actually was

I agree the real test for a fan base is how it’s like when they suck. Even Rogers stadium was electric during '87-'95 when the jays were perennial contenders.

Another thing is stadium design. One thing I really enjoyed about Fenway was how close you are to the action… You feel you’re right on top of players, you can heckle the shit out of them.

They aren’t calling it a dirty play because they don’t want to give any ammo to the Cardinals.

I can guarantee you that they thought it was dirty. I haven’t heard anyone who was a former player NOT call it a dirty play.

They aren’t Cubs fans, though. Half of them are fucking tourists or go to Wrigley just because it’s Wrigley and sport a Cubs shirt.
