Interesting everyone took McCutchen… goes to show even a dude on pitt can make a name for himself.
I’m going to see the Jays in Seattle on the 15th. Excited to see Brett play. Hopefully get a picture with him.

Maybe he’ll suck your dick as well.

There’s always tons of Jays fans at Jays games in Seattle I notice. I guess Seattle isn’t that far a drive from the Greater Vancouver area?
If you enter that contest, post the vid in this thread DB.

It’s a long season and they’re only a game back.
Uggla is on a tear. A 32 game hitting streak now.
Now about Zambrano. He gives up five homeruns in the game. He beamed Uggla and Jones because they hit homeruns. Then he says he is going to retire and cleans out his locker. The guy is a fucking nutcase. Wow, you had a bad game in pitching. Get over it!! He is the opposite of what I would call a team player.

This is true, I just hope we don’t pull with Arizona this year, what we pulled with San Diego last year…
The D-Backs are looking solid, hopefully it’s just a flash though.

At least the Giants are shoving cock into their mouth now instead of a month from now.
So how bad is extra rest for SPs?
Jered Weaver just returned from his suspension and has given up 7 runs in 4 1/3 innings thus far. 8 days rest.
The commentators are crediting the extra rest to his poor pitching performance, but I don’t buy it.
Stat line:
8 runs in 4 2/3rd inning pitched
So I heard the Giants broke an unusual record the other day.
The Giants have hit 20 solo shots in a row breaking a record held by the Dodgers since 1914.

It all depends on where the pitcher is at. If he’s tired, maybe losing some velocity, or his mechanics are out of whack or he tweaked something, then obviously the rest is good. Missing a start can often times be more beneficial than staying in a routine, even if missing a start throws that routine out of whack.
But in Weaver’s case, the rest can be detrimental. Whenever you’re throwing the ball well and in a good mechanical groove, regardless of the results you’re getting, you want to stay in that groove and you don’t want to change anything that may upset whatever rhythm it is that you’ve established.
It also depends on your mechanics. For guys like Weaver or Lincecum or Johnny Cueto, who have motions that have a little more going on within them than most deliveries, it can be difficult to re-establish yourself after missing a start. I think in Weaver’s case he’ll be fine and that this start is an aberration more than anything else. I didn’t watch the game but I would guess that his command was off. He may have been trouble throwing strikes or maybe he was catching too much of the plate. Perhaps his velocity is a little down because he’s trying to take a little off of the fastball in order to find a proper release point out in front again. People forget that bad control also means throwing the ball in the strike zone too much. Barry Zito is an excellent example.

That’s because they follow a very specific religion in which they are not allowed to score more than 3 runs in a game, and are only allowed to win or lose by a margin no greater than 2.
On another note, Belt got called back up today and Torres NOT Beltran was put on the DL. Good news.

How do you think getting constantly called back up and then sent back down to the minors affects a guy like Belt who is considered to be a good prospect?

He was definitely missing his spots at times and didn’t really use his fastball much. He threw a shitload of breaking balls today

Very negatively. When you have a prospect like Belt, they need regular ABs and a secure spot. If a prospect is constantly looking over his shoulder and worrying that a 2 week slump will likely have him sent down, it rattles their confidence and it fucks up their development. Very few prospects hit the ground running like Posey did. However, I understand the Giants are in a tight division race, and every game from here on out is extremely important.

I don’t like it at all, but he’s an awkward fit with our current roster (mostly because of Huff). I hope this is his final call up this year, and they just stick with him for the rest of the season.
