“Breakdown” as in it won’t engage the starter? Like loose wire, funked up relay, switch? I had a turn signal switch which didn’t work. Took it apart and there was a dead bee between the contacts. (?)
Anyway, that had to feel good. And glad all of YOU are all feeling better. Mucinex.[/quote]
‘Breakdown’ as in I push the button and nothing happens. I took the control apart a few days ago and everything looked ok; no loose wires, no corrosion. It did ‘click’ when I pushed it after a short ride around town, though, so I’m more confused now. I also pulled the starter solenoid and had it tested and it’s good. So now it’s looking like the starter motor which will be a great big mess (not to mention an expensive part) to replace. I’m kind of hoping that the battery needs a better charge and that it’ll miraculously start working again when that happens, but…

As noted elsewhere, you are “brilliant” and thus you will reach a solution.
I’m still around. Dealing with end of school-year stuff with the kiddos, new work and training schedules and a lot of disappointments in the gym. I’m taking the week off of nutrition planning/counting to reset so I can get through the next 7 weeks of training for WUAP Nationals.
I benched 60kg for a double the other day, then let go mentally and missed it several times. The double was a rep PR, though. I was hoping for more after my 195lbs reverse band press a couple weeks ago, but I’m still nervous about my ribs, apparently.
My squat is looking better every week, which is an accomplishment. It was UGLY before I started working with my new coach. New coach let me go all the way up to 105lbs this week. I really hate that I neglected my form on this lift for so long, but I’m fixing it now, and it should be in good shape for Worlds next year.
DL is still my favorite, even though I can’t remember the last time I pulled from the floor and my legs are covered in bruises from rack/box pulls. My rack pull is up to 315x3, double overhand grip, 6" box pull is sitting pretty at 250x3, double overhand. Previous DL PR is 250x2, and the 6" boxes make pulling a bear, so I’m pretty sure that lift has come up quite a bit.
Off to eat carbs and forget about my recently healed ribs before Monday
Again, still here, just not motivated to post much lately.
I conquered the plates that broke me last week, and PR’d at 65kg, but…
(There’s always a but)
My powerlifting season is over.
I’m waiting on the ortho to confirm, but it’s looking like I have a labrel tear in my hip as well as a muscle tear (some fancy muscle near the quad that I can’t remember the name of). Basically, I’m in a ton of pain and can’t do anything but upper body work. My hip has been bothering me for a week, but when it started to get worse instead of better, well, it was time to get it checked out.
Trying to battle the feeling of defeat that is closing in. I knew getting into this sport that it wasn’t ‘if’ I got injured, but ‘when’, I just didn’t expect it to be a cumulative-damage injury that would destroy an entire year of lifting.
Another update: I had surgery 4 weeks ago to repair the tear in the labrum of my hip, as well as remove some bone overgrowth on my femoral head and cut the anterior tendon in half due to over-development. I should be released to squat again on September 6th, and have been released to deadlift and resume normal leg-day workouts (minus all variations of squats) for about 2 weeks, although it’s not going well. My hip is getting very sore very fast when I try to work it, so I’m focusing more on yoga and stretching exercises in an attempt to loosen it up and regain some range of motion. I’ll resume workouts with my coach in mid-September when we get home from a week at Disney World.
The plan is to drop a weight-class between now and March, although that’s not looking like it’ll happen easily with being laid up and generally depressed about being inured, which is leading to a lack of commitment to meal planning and whatnot.
