Mission: Strongest Girl in the Gym

3 days out, feeling run-down even though I’ve been taking it easy this week. My muscles are still tired from Friday/Saturday, which is bothersome. I’m also retaining water for some reason, so I’m back to stressing over weigh-ins.

So much fun for a first meet.

Oh, and my ribs hurt like hell. [/quote]

You’re changing the subject.

You have no control over these things so stop thinking about them, it wastes calories and nerves…

Just imagine yourself at the meet bending expensive bars with your astounding force productions. Do this 62,000,000 times a day until the meet. Then do it some more.

You’ll be fine if you control the things you can control, things like thoughts and barbells.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Weighed in at 176 (80kg).

Opening lift is 115lbs (52.5kg).

I’m ready!

Well, I will be, as soon as I pack my bag and food

First meet was an experience and a half! It was amazing and I can’t wait to do it again! I stayed conservative with an opener of 52.5kg, a second lift of 55kg and a third lift of 60kg, which I failed. Even with the failed 60kg, I still took 1st place and set a national record, so I’m pretty happy

Videos!!!

55kg (my trainer is in the way, but you can see the bar, I can’t believe how light it was)

60kg fail

Now for the explanation: My second lift, I anticipated the ‘press’ and got a no-lift from the head judge, but the other judges white-lighted me, so I got credit. The third lift, I was afraid of making the same mistake, so I over-paused, got loose, and couldn’t get it up. I ended up tweaking something in my lower back, which was excruciating (hamstring on the same side hurts, too), and resulted in some tears shed. I’m ok with missing the lift, there’s always next time

Now to keep my name on that record!

Brilliant! Congratulations!! Each of my personalities is proud of you.

Thanks for posting, now I can turn my computer off.

Glad I could make your day complete

Next up is an ‘outlaw’ push/pull meet on April 19th and WUAP Nationals on June 28th

Way to go, 55 flew up! Nice job on the record, too!!

3/10- Bench with co-worker (not trainer), we lifted in kilos, because we’re badass

Warm-up
20.4x10
43x10
47x5

Foot-less presses (aka medieval torture)
5 sets of 6 reps at 50kgs

Ladder pushups in the Smith Machine (aka even more torture)
4 sets of 12-I couldn’t do the last 2 sets because I can’t do pushups from the ground, which is why I get stuck in the hole on my bench press. Stupid weaksauce arms.

My co-worker is prepping for another powerlifting meet this Saturday (she did the one Sunday with me), so it was a short and effective workout.

Priceless.

My co-worker and I at the meet. She got first place in her weight class as well as best female lifter of the day.

She has way bigger quads than me… :frowning:

My thoughts exactly!

Great job Roz! I’m finally doing another meet next month!

She’s a beast, for sure. I think her lifts were 300 squat, 198 bench, 330 deadlift.

Good luck at your meet, MightyMouse!

3/12 BACK DAAAAAYYYYYYY!!! (It’s been so long since I’ve had a good back day)

DEADLIFTS (Favorite!)- In kilos, because badass (and because bumper plates)
40kgx10
60kgx5
80kgx4 (Rep PR and the most I’ve ever pulled)
70kgx14

The rest are in lbs.
Barbell Rows
65x10
85x10
105x10
115x10

Dumbbell Shrugs
25x15
30x15
35x10 (3 sets)

Seated Rows
77x10
99x10 (3 sets)

Lat. Pull Down (wide grip)
66x12
88x10 (2 sets)

Overall it was a great workout and I’m feeling confident about where I stand for Nationals in June

Rep PR’d hack squats today with 220lbs for 3 sets of 10 (LIGHT-WEIGHT, BABY)!!!

Full workout report later

3/14 Leggggggssssssss!

It was a short workout that took a long time due to a phone-call from the principal :frowning: My daughter (7 years old and 40lbs, teeny tiny) has been getting bullied all year, and the bullying escalated to her getting thrown to the ground by a much larger kid earlier this week, so we’re trying to come up with solutions (I say expel the offenders, but it’s not my call, apparently).

Squats (in lbs, because not badass today, apparently)
45x10 (2 sets) to a below-parallel box. I’m working on getting to depth more consistently as well as getting out of the hole with my hip out of place. Gotta get that full power national record in June
65x5 to the same box. Suck.
95x5 no box, but touching to the catches which were set at parallel
126x5 no box, just above parallel, stupid hip
136x6 (2 sets) no box, waaaaay above parallel and every single one was a struggle. I’m not sure what was going on, but I was weak in the squat rack today.

Hack squats
55 (empty sled)x10 Deeeeeeeeep and slow, with a narrow stance.
125x10
175x10
200x10
220x10 (2 sets) REP PR, and it felt fabulous!

Hip Thrusters
115x10 (3 sets) I hate doing these at the gym because everyone stares and makes rude comments about them, but I was running out of time and both leg curl machines were taken.

3/14- Bench Improvement Day with my trainer

A whole lotta floor pressing was done today (as in the entire workout, holy-suckage).

45x10
65x10

Isometric Presses
115x3
135x5
185x5

Rack Holds (rack press to hold)
185x5
200x5

Rack Presses
185x2 (didn’t have the gas to keep going)
135x12
95x3
95x2 (complete failure)

Then we moved on to some seated rows (127lbs), which sucked, too.

This was the first time I’ve had 185 and 200 in my hands and it felt great (and exhausting)!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I’m the one who posted that, I didn’t realize Jed was still logged in on my computer. Oh, the joys of technology

A buddy of mine’s step son was getting bullied. School is “we’ll handle it, we know what to do.” Doesn’t stop so he calls the cops the next time, it is assault and battery after all. Boom, done.

Years later my kid is getting pushed around, school is “yeah this is tough, um, we know what to do.” Yup. Next time it happened I stopped by the police station. It is assault and battery after all. Cop says “thanks, we wish more parents would come to us, it is assault and battery after all. We need to get to know these kids now when when they are young and we can intervene, and if that doesn’t work, we need to get to know these kids because we’ll be dealing with them when they get older any way.” In short, police go to kids’ houses, boom, done.
