Pretty good actually. California’s filled with smart bitches.
She’s purdy.
I’ve gotta say, this is pretty stupid. I’m usually way out on the left wing, but Perez Hilton has really pissed me off here.
Her answer was actually really diplomatic and really can’t be seen as homophobic in any way. That kind of diplomacy is (I thought) exactly the kind of thing that pageant judges should look for.
It’s her right not to believe that gay people shouldn’t be able to marry. She didn’t state her views aggressively or hurtfully. It’s not equivalent to a bodybuilder with a swastika tattoo, because not believing in gay marriage is actually quite a mainstream, and not necessarily bigoted, point of view. It’s more equivalent to a beauty queen losing, and then being verbally abused by a judge, for saying that she is pro-choice.
Personally, I believe gay people should have all the same rights as straights. I don’t think we should discriminate against people on the basis of their sexual preference, which isn’t really a choice.
Hilton’s reaction shows that he’s not just vapid, but immature as well. I completely agree with the people who say he’s done more harm than good to the cause. He’s exactly the kind of d-bag that perpetuates retarded stereotypes of homosexuals.
Pride comes before a fall and Perez Hilton’s childish, and potentially hurtful, reaction to her response, shows just how full of himself he is.

So was wearing swastikas.
Not really a fair comparison. The swastika stood for active and violent discrimination against people from different racial and political groups.
Clearly the Ms. California wannabe was not advocating this, even if you believe, as I do, that banning gay marriage is a form of discrimination.

Now now, anyway whats your view on gay marriage lixy.

MORE IMPORTANTLY; why are none of the contestants actually hot? They’re all sort of above average.

Sifu wrote:
More to the point why is an openly gay man judging who should be Miss America?
It makes as much sense as having someone who has no sense of taste judging at a cook off.
The only thing Perez Hilton is interested in judging is a mans butt hole.
There’s your answer right there. Might want to think about that Jab

not a fan of the ladies are we?
Notwithstanding of course the fact that gays dominate the judging of the pageants and hence the candidates’ ability to cause red blooded heterosexual erections comes into question - besides that
In principle, they are supposed to be pretty women. Do you not like pretty women?

Lixy believes in traditional marriage between one man and one to four women.

How the hell do you surmise that she had a brain from her answering a question about gay marriage.
I was brought up to believe that opposite marriage is correct?
I don’t think she should have lost the crown for her beliefs but it was hardly an intellectual discourse on the benefits of traditional values.
But was it bad enough to get a score of 0? Cause that’s what the guy gave her. The only thing that mattered to him was that she agree and further his ideas.
Didn’t seem any worse than most beauty queen answers (not that I watch many beauty pagents.)
Thing about this whole stupid media scandal is it’s a sign of where we’re headed. I don’t care a ton about gay marriage, and I guess civil unions is fair. But where we are headed is a collision between gay rights and political correctness and religious liberty. When parents are dubbed child abusers for teaching their children traditional religion and morality, and speaking your conscience on the subject is judged a hate crime (the term itself is Orwellian). We are already halfway there, see Catholic adoption charities in Massachusetts.

As we know on this board, it is creeping with Islam in Europe as well. What is strange to see is an alliance of the left and the jihadists. The convenience can’t possibly outweigh the homicidal tendencies, the mortal danger to homosexuals, unless maybe the goal is something different: the destruction of Western civilization?

TSk, tsk, tsk , the swastika stood for the protection of good traditional wholesome values from semitic and globalized anglo-saxon perversion.
It stood for a united country instead of special interests and an effective government and a strong and respected military.
You seem to think that the Germans in the 30s somehow all turned evil.
They did not.
They were scared and willing to close their eyes to some excesses of their regime in the beginning until it was too late.
Obviously that could never happen in America.

And why wouldn´t he, polygamy has a stronger and longer tradition than this judeo-christian perversion.

Actually the polygamy was there in the Judeo bit as well ![]()

Are you stupid? How did I even get close to saying that? The Swastika, pretty clearly, stood for an anti-Semitic ideology. It’d be pretty hard to argue otherwise.
What the beauty queen said was not the equivalent of actively endorsing violence or hatred.
What she said was (and it was kinda hard to tell):
'It’s great that states/people (don’t know what exactly she was referring to) have the right to choose, but personally I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman’
This is an awesome example of why people shouldn’t jump on to Nazi analogies so quickly. Since they are the most extreme examples, it just makes the debate stupid. Lets not even refer to it anymore.
This question has no place in such a pageant, because inevitably someone will get offended. One judge may agree, while one or more might disagree. I think her response was her honest opinion, and she gave it politely and intelligently. Perez got pissed because he didn’t get the answer he wanted, and he felt compelled to punish her. He reminds me of when I was a kid at the playground who would threaten to take his ball away if no one picked him to be on their team.

Not really.
But we sure know who the homophobe is.
