It depends where you live , I am told the living wage in San Francisco is over $16 hour . I do not get why the so called right cares what kind of TV or phone a poor person has ?
Because they cost A LOT OF MONEY. Many of us don’t own luxuries like the “poor” in this country do.
my first I phone was a dollar

If you need $16 an hour to survive in San Fran, I’d be on the next bus outta there.

I am on my 3rd flat screen TV

What does that have to do with a person making $7.25 an hour with a brand new Iphone w/ $200 a month data plan and a 52" LED LCD on their wall?

TVs and Phones are cheap for last years models

So?
pittbulll wrote:

So are Ramon Noodles. Guess $7.25 is plenty as a living wage.

I think cell phones could be part of infrastructure . Some thing free . They are a necessity and service and hardware are really fucking cheap

They are not necessary.

I can promise you a diet of Roman noodles will cost you a lot in health care . You are forgetting housing , food, transportation , water , electricity . Do you want these people to have a job or suck on the teat of society (WELFARE)

I want these people to pay for their own shit, which means not buying flat screen TVs and cell phones instead of food, water, electricity, etc…

Needs: Food, Water, shelter, etc…
Luxuries: Cell Phones, Big Screen TVs, etc…

Why would you hire some kid when you can get an adult with responsibility to exploit for the same $7.25
Many adults have skills worth more than $7.25.
I am sure there are many adults earning minimum wage with skills that far exceed that wage . But either the job market has no job requiring those skills or the abundance of workers with those skills and no job bring those workers to minimum wage
It has been pointed out by several in this thread that it IS possible to survive on minimum wage…just not live lavish.

ZOMG!! no CELLE OR TEH PLAZMA TV?!?!?!
dont forget you will have to cut out DA CREATINZ!!!

If I buy a T-shirt at Khols for $10, minimum wage is doubled, and now that same T-shirt costs me $15. That $5 is welfare.

how do you know I did not give that shit to them ?

I personally don’t mind a cell phone, provided it is a cheap pay as you go type.

What bothers me people in line at the store using their EBT cards while their 5 kids play on iPads.

we could make copies on CDs because poor people should not have access to broad band  they could practice this and explain to their potential employer that if they want them to come to work they have to do a Vulcan mind Meld
