A very old Irish tune that goes by many names; Brighton Camp and The Girl I Left Behind Me. A fife and drum marching version was developed in England some time in the mid 18th century. It was used by both American and French revolutionary armies and it was a favourite with the Union army in the war between the states.
Fife and Drum version first.
Another version of The Girl I Left Behind Me.
And another(incorrectly named an ‘American’ marching song. American adaptation.)
