Thanks, Nate.
Actually, no thanks, Nate.
There are 2 exercises which target the RA muscle group:
Crunches
&
Reverse Crunches
It’s quite simple, really. Any exercise which is not a variation of either of these will not develop a sixpack.
Leg raises and their numerous variations aren’t ab exercises.
Sit-ups and their numerous variations aren’t ab exercises.
The function of the rectus abdominis (the sixpack muscle) is to bring the sternum towards the pelvis by curling the spine forward.
If you are bending at the waist you are using your hip flexors, NOT your abs!
This is why I say that if you don’t understand basic anatomy and biomechanics, you’re lifting in the dark. Learn them.
I always thought there was a lot less muscle fibre in the lower area of the abdominals hence not as much potential to build size.

Ok, you got that part right. Other than that, I think you must be doing some weird sit-ups and leg-hip raises, to not be flexing the spine.

Or maybe, just maybe (heh), you’re using both the abs and hip flexors. Or at least I am.
AlphaDragon,
How about a photo of the problem, then when (if) you get it sorted you can re-post showing before & after and give us the lowdown on what worked for you?
