does anyone here know of any afro arab organizations or afro arab history centers.

I am interested in speaking to an afro arab and asking about their life experiences. earlier this week i asked two elderly people about their experiences living in texas back in the day. Old white guy and the other was an old black dude. mostly wanted to ask about civil rights and racism.
the black guy had a lot to talk about when he spoke about civil rights movements, and about the racism he encountered living in texas. The other man honestly just said he was a good christian so he accepted everyone. But he did mention in the town he lived in there were no blacks allowed.
i kind of like interviewing older folks and asking about their past. they are kind of like walking history books. the african american male really had a lot to talk about when he focused on civil rights.

After reading up enough on the development of the Salafi movement, that is my conclusion too.

Speaking of racism, there are few things more fascinating than watching Maajid Nawaz’s public appearances. Nawaz, a former HaT terrorist (holy shit) spent five years in an Egyptian prison on Islamic terrorism charges. He has since publicly renounced the radical ideology and is a vocal proponent of a new brand of Islam, more akin to the old Ottoman tradition.

And to see white-as-they-come leftist university students explain to him how he should feel about the Middle East, Israel, hiyabs and everything else is really fascinating. Oh, yes, they have no problem calling him “house n-word” on Twitter.

Oh yes, and the SPLC labeled him, a former HaT member, “an anti-Muslim extremist”

Those people would call MLK the same thing if he were alive today.

The Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African studies specializes in this history and contemporary events. It tends to be liberal, but it has voices from all parts of the spectrum.

The SPLC beclowned itself over him. He is one of the bravest men in British public life, and they deserve scorn for their defaming him.

Disgusting.

Full stop. They label anyone with non mainstream liberal opinions as a terrorist. Like anyone who’s ever gone to a tax protest is the next mass shooter. It trivializes actual terrorists.

Absolutely!! I think it is incredibly valuable because of the wealth of information, experience, and opinions you get. Where esle can you talk with someone who literally lived through all the events of the history you read and watch?

I think it is a shame that many people don’t understand this or older folks beyond your basic stereotypical tropes.

Seems like a fair place to put this:

I love this line FTA:

“You’re a bunch of dogs, rabid dogs, who only bark at those that feed them”

One can discuss a bit about the soon-to-be-changing alliances where Egypt depends on Israel to kill the nutcases in Egypt AND a Saudi citizen can freely say (without fear) that Saudi needs to align with Israel over the fringe elements in the Muslim world.

If I was an Iranian mullah, I’d be looking at a nice chalet in Switzerland about now.

They are the clownish of clowns. They labeled Ayaan Hirsi Ali an anti-islamic bigot. An African (Egypt), brown, self identified Muslim, woman.
Basically, if you are somewhat popular at any level and have half a brain and you don’t tow their radical leftist line, your a bigot and a racist. Regardless if you happen to be that race, religion, creed, gender or color

What they have done is trivialize themselves. They have made themselves nobodies. They have no real credibility with the populous anymore.

That’s bullshit. It’s more “ha-ha stupid Zionists will do the fighting for us to get rid of takfirs”. Trust me, there isn’t any pro-Israeli sentiment in SA, except those bullshit articles MBS is pushing to justify his agenda of temporary convenience.

The monstrosity that is the unofficial alliance with the Saudis is probably the worst calamity that befell Israel in its history.

I can’t believe that Netanyahu and co are so short-sighted.

Could this be a “keep your friends close and enemies closer” situation?

“These guys will help us strike a decisive blow against the godless Russian communists in Afghanistan. After all, what could go wrong, it’s not like they will hate us afterwards, we’re their allies”

In 2015, the state-appointed grand mufti preachedthat Jews were planning to destroy Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque and called ISIS “part of the Israeli army.” The top state-appointed religious body praised what it called the Palestinian “jihad and defense of the sanctities of Muslims in Palestine,” terming Israel’s so-called “violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites” an act of “terrorism.”

One member of that state-appointed council has contended that Jews plot against the entire world, and in 2016 sermons from Mecca’s Grand Mosque called for divine intervention against the “usurper Jews,” whom he dubbed a “criminal people.” Last year King Salman handed that preacher an award “for service to Islam.” This past June, Saudi state TV gave five hours of airtime to a zealot with a government title who had recently called for God to “destroy” the Jews and save Al-Aqsa from their “claws.”

Meanwhile, references to “the Israeli enemy” and “Israeli aggression” pepper official Saudi news coverage of Israeli military actions, and anti-Semitic cartoons — such as depicting Jews as pigs – are still common in the Saudi press. Similarly, in the policy arena, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir referred to Israel as the “Zionist enemy” in late 2015. This past October, Abdullah al-Mouallimi, Saudi Arabia’s UN ambassador, lumped Israel in with Saudi Arabia’s arch-enemy Iran as the world’s main state sponsors of terrorism.

I don’t know how this hare brained Saudi alliance idea came about, but you can’t change hundreds of years of salafi propaganda with a tongue-in-cheek top-down order from MBS.

“Forget that jihadi stuff. We’re allies with Israel now. Speak freely how Jews are a-ok”

I think she is from Somalia originally. And seeing her school presumptuous Westerners on Islam, the Middle East and women’s rights is a thing of beauty.

This is my favorite thing from last year - an Iranian anti-hijab activist had to justify herself to Western feminists (her plea fell on deaf ears) for agreeing with Marine Le Pen’s refusal to wear a veil.

Incidentally, the Iranian regime declassified a poll from 2014 showing only half ofthe population supports compulsory hijabs. Since it was a official government poll, analysts assume the numbers against compulsory hijabs are much, much higher

I wonder how these numbers would stack up in Bradford and Marseille?

Depends on what group of Westerners you sample. There are places in Western society where it’s literally illegal for anyone else to hide their face (banks, driver’s license etc
). Try walking into a sporting event or concert with a ski mask on. But we have to accept 6th century practices in the name of multiculturalism.

The feminists that excuse FGM, mandatory veils etc
and then go on to complain about western men sitting on the bus wrong, I can’t even.

Iirc you’re required to show your face for drivers licenses and passports.

Edit: I see the driver’s license thing can carry state by state. Thanks google
