It seems to me (and my doctor) it is much more “cost effective” (as in cheap!) to use Femara (Letrozole) in place of Arimidex (Anastrozole). But is it recommended, or at least do-able?
My research indicates that Femara is harder on the “lipids” and joints, and drive E2 too low. But I wonder if it would be possible to simply lessen the dose dramatically, so you don’t “blow right by” the E2 sweet spot?
Let’s say that you can keep your E2 in place with the standard “1.0mg Arimidex per week in divided doses”, which is a pill. Could it be that dviding a Femara pill into many, many more doses (like 40, possibly) may allow one dial in to the right E2 level? And that people blowing right by it using Femara are simply over-dosing. (Admittedly it is much harder to get 1/40th pill Femara than 1/4 pill Arimidex.)
Or perhaps there are other side effects that come with Femara – even if micro-dosed – that Arimidex does not have? And you will still feel bad side effects on Femara even if you do “dial in” a good dose for optimal E2?
