Guys this is totally weird. Week 5 of Meltdown/T-Dawg. Over the last two weeks I have:
FINALLY been able to do complete pushups
Added 10 pounds to my squat
Added 30 pounds to my pulldown (replacement for chins)
Added 20 pounds to my deadlift
Lost 5 pounds
Those are some TREMENDOUS results in my opinion. I shouldn’t be able to do all this given that I’m on a reduced calorie diet, but there you are. Seems like meltdown is helping me BLAST through some plateaus. Keep at it guys it works!!!
Due to the hellishness that this program sounds like, and the fact that it has Poliquin influences, I’ve decided to go for Meltdown training starting next week!!! I’m taking the rest of this week off for resting purposes and to decide which exercises I can get away with in my gym…For diet terms, I was thinking of doing the T-Dawg approach for 2-4 weeks, then Fat Fast for the next 2 weeks…I only want to do this until end of November. Then another week of rest and back to mass training…grin. Keep it guys!!
aikigreg - Hey bud. Have you just started using Androsol or some such supplement? That could be the reason. I think the reason I didn’t drop an aweful lot of weight on starting was because I ‘started’ taking creating. [shrug] About to hit the gym. Gunna be interesting considering it’s hurting my shoulders to type…!
My question is where does all the fat go? With all the energy we are all expending could probably keep a developed nation with power for 6 weeks. I will get brave and do a body comosition test next week and see how much lean mass I have left. If you don’t see anything you know I am now a skinny fat bastard! Also will get a fasting lipid and see if my arteries are smaller!
I am really impressed at how the weight has dropped since last week I’ve lost 2kg (tryed fat fast for 10 days), I have been drinking lots, not peeing too much so I don’t think it’s all water. So will monitor post meltdown behaviour and see if gains/losses can be maintained with the odd pizza thrown in! Hmmm carbs
I didn’t go over the top with my weights and just kept them at a level I could do 4x10 with.
Seems to have worked OK.
As far as food goes it was a low carb post workout shake, flax seed oil (mixed in makes the whole thing like a thick shake). Cheese Wedges, Cottage Cheese, Chicken (skin on), pnut butter, diet coke. red meat, whole eggs and the odd bit of bacon. 1300 cals +/- 100
Hey Hyphnz and lazeyeyepsycho, good to see the bottom of the south is the place to be. Hyphnz I go to Powerpoint Gym. Lazeye I guess you have exams at the moment. I’m doing a masters part-time so I go up to Dunedin one day per week, but of course will be studying for my exam in 2 weeks. Thesis next year!
To everyone else keep it going, it definitely been worth the pain, look forward to seeing more results.
Well, my right shoulder is beyond toast now. It’s a smouldering heap of charcoal… cardio is now going to be walking. My shoulder won’t take anymore, so I’ll just have immerse myself in the lush young women frequenting the running tracks around the place. Damn…! [grin] Weight training will only be compound leg movements too. Next week I’ll train using strength protocols (I just wanted to use that word… hehehe…) to give the upper body joints a rest from the volume. Oh, and the reason my shoulders have screwed up is because of the skipping added onto an already high workload. Listen to your bodies people…!
Nope, no androsol, nothing. Just the T-2 and MD6 I was on before I started meltdown! The taking of which ends this week, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens to my body afterward.
My next phase should start the second week in november, where I’ll be using either Mag-10 or Nandrosol and creatine. My first experience with either one of those things.
The comp of my arms has defiantely changed. There’s this wonderful crease of muscle around my lower shoulder/upper bicep that’s never been there before this week. I was so bleedin’ sexy I wanted to do myself right there in the gym! Or the hottie on the treadmill, whatever I settled on my girlfriend instead.
Having not been able to do a dip on my own, I settled on assisted eccentrics with the help of my erstwhile (read almostworthless) trainer. My right shoulder and tricep are screaming right now. Bench dips just ARE NOT good enough. But then, 8 weeks ago I couldn’t even do those!
I’ve made more progress on meltdown IMHO than on any other training program I’ve done. I think my body just said it was time to give in and do what the mean man wants!
I’ve been melting down for show…now it’s time to grow!
Hey bud, good to see you’re making such good progress. Just watch that shoulder! My shoulder seems to have come good for some reason. I upped that calories yesterday, not with carbs, just a shite load more protein and fats. Meltdown training was VERY light today, and for the cardio I’m just gunna walk. But! It’s still workin’…!
I need to get this fat a$$ in shape and lose some fat. I’ve decided to do “meltdown” training, but I have one problem (Don’t Laugh). I am unable to do chin-ups, so would a better substitute be Lat Pulldowns or one of those counterbalanced chin stations? Also, I can’t squat/deadlift much more than the bar (I feel like such a weakling, but we all gotta suck up pride and start somewhere, huh?). Is any of this gonna be a problem? I don’t see a problem w/ doing the rest of it…
Use either one (I might lean towards the chin-up counterbalance set-up). Also, just squat and deadlift what you can. You have to start somewhere. Also try adding around 5lbs to the bar for squats/deadlifts per workout. You can take the weight off later, but at least try to do your first set a little heavier.
Lazy wont be doing exams aat hte mometn considering its the start of the year. What are you doing masters in, as I am starting masters this year in otago, but come from invergiggle origonally.
