T-dawgs…I have a question on Alessi’s Meltdown training. As far as the rope work is concerned, is there a specific reason why there isn’t more sets or less rest interval length? I guess maybe I’m comparing it to Coach Davies’ approach, but I don’t see how six sets of 1 minute length with three minutes of rest can be of all that benefit. I realize the weight training aspect itself is brutal, but anyway, could someone help me out? And yes, I have tried it.
hi…i am a trainer at don alessi’s facility. you may not think that 1 minute is that strenuous but understand that this is one minute of an ALL OUT effort. think of it this way…it takes about one minute to sprint in a 400m dash. do you really think that after 6 400’s…you wouldnt be seeing white elephants?! and to shortnen the rest intervals would produce less lactic acid because your muscles would not be recovered enough for the next set and therefore not be performing well enough to promote the level of lactate necessary. try the routine…and youll see what i mean.
I did Meltdown for 5 weeks, awesome program please pass on thanks to DA for me. I did the jump rope moderate for 3mins with some jumpining jacks etc in rest period, more Coach Davies style. So you/DA suggest 1 min ‘sprint’ 3 min rest, rather than way I did it?
Response greatly appreciated, jman. I guess I thought I was going pretty much all-out, but I’ll try it again tomorrow with a greater intensity.
