Meathead Camaraderie

I’ll agree that etiquette is indeed a lost trait with this current generation, and the gym is certain no exception. However, I can’t really imagine people in a gym environment giving crap to the individuals who are serious simply for that reason alone. Of course being serious about your training, and walking around with a noticeable attitude (this is a blanket statement, so don’t jump all over me X) are two very different things, and for anyone who walks into a gym thinking that they’re special because they’re more serious than other folks needs a little better perspective.

The fact that a thread started to supposedly discuss the lack of camaraderie has actually given yield to this makes me scratch my head.

This is correct–because usually, even if someone is ill mannered, they understand that butting into others conversations uninvitedly, can result in some bad treatment in return, so they stay quiet and don’t interfere with conversations they overhear, or choose to POLITELY join in on the conversation to avoid bad treatment. You know, bad treatment like telling others to f— off or just ignoring them. More hot headed types, who can’t control themselves, might even resort to assault on some wiseass who ruined their time.

And I actually believe that there was a time before Western man was infantalized, feminized, and domesticated, that it would be reasonable for some loudmouth to have a fight on his hands after publicly humiliating or insulting someone else who was minding his business. And a self respecting man might even choose to fight and defend himself, even if he weren’t a swole 290!

And what people fail to realize is that:

 1. Yes, here are rude people out there, some so rude that they would tell someone else, “You’re fat!”… and MUCH, MUCH worse!
 2. Generally speaking, rude or not, most people don’t feel the need to watch their p’s and q’s because some guy is a “big guy” or a rich guy or a professional guy or a smart guy or a good looking guy. And why should they?

X has considered some of the most benign behavior as disrespectful. Me asking him to retrieve a post I couldn’t find was considered disrespectful. Me using the word F-word–NOT at him, meaningI didn’t say “F you”, but rather used it in frustration, as in “this f–ing thing”-- was considered disrespectful.

Then he goes on to say that perhaps some of us are unworldly which is surprising because he considered those two actions disrespectful when in this world there are FAR WORSE forms of “disrespect”, and I’m talking about treatment that’s a little bit more severe than asking some guy on a lifting forum to retrieve an old post or tell me his views on cutting and bulking, disrespect we’ve probably seen or received ourselves.

As far as camaraderie goes, I’ve definitely seen some great supportive folks on here, this is despite the Sh-t-Storm threads that have become the norm these last several years. In at least as much as you can feel supported from an online forum, it’s always worked for me. That’s why I always enjoyed detailing my own experiences, and went out of my way to answer every PM, or thread questions I’ve gotten. If I want people to support me, I gotta support them. That goes for people who do not share my personal beliefs or goals, as well as those who do but have yet to achieve similar levels of accomplishments as mine.

To the idea that all serious people are elitist: No need to mix words, I think that’s a complete load of pompous crap. If the dictionary definition of the word is to be believed, than I should be running around letting everyone know how awesome I am every time I add to a thread. People who disagree with me must be wrong, because damnit, I’m the Mighty Stu. If you get out of line, or heaven forbid you start getting more attention than I do in your threads, then I’m coming in to shift the topic to me… so yeah, I kinda disagree with that idea. I’ve enjoyed online friendships with many folks from this site, and even met a fairly good amount of them in real life to hang out and train. At no time do I ever entertain the idea that I deserve special treatment for any reason, especially something as silly as being a decent bodybuilder.

Uh…yeah…that is what I am saying.

If “everyone” feels welcome, then “hardcore” doesn’t exist.
I haven’t been able to read all the way through yet, but you have your T-Cell, where YOU get to choose who can join.

So, what’s the problem?
There’s more estrogen floating around these forums lately than a convent on rag week.

Look guys, I get it you’re all cheesed off with the prof.

But can we please just take it easy! The bitching about him makes things worse.

I think the main issue is it’s too easy to read posts negatively with no body language or other cues. I reckon if everyone got together for a party it’d be totally different.
Good post. All reason has been lost lately. Someone can write that they wouldn’t even speak to a morbidly obese woman and no one is crying, “ELITIST!!!”.

I am talking about people with similar goals and drive and/or dedication meeting on common ground.

Unless people want to pretend that “everyone” falls in that category, much of the bitching here seems to be misplaced.

No offense, but you mention me quite a bit for someone who avoids every direct question asked of him and drops names of authors if asked to back anything that is claimed up.

I could see if you actually did carry on respectful debate, but you usually resort to making things up…like when you said that I was claiming that “elite level bodybuilder size” was seen on a person who didn’t lift when I didn’t write that at all.

Ahhh…ha ha ha…ha ha…can’t breathe - laughing too hard - the irony is killing me.

Love how Massive Fucktard is now your best friend (DUR HUR - GOOD POST!!) because he endlessly lavishes your balls with his tongue…

You’re the problem - you always have been - you always will be.

I said I personally wouldnt speak to a morbidly obese person if given the choice
I didnt say they shouldnt live or feel welcomed

You blatantly said that not everyone should feel welcomed here

Being elitist would be me saying : obese ppl shouldnt wear nike clothes cause it makes me look bad when I wear nike i dont want to be associated with these ppl

Also sorry for not wanting to marry or fuck someone im not attracted to. Pathetico
zraw wrote:

Which could be seen as “elitist” if anyone chose to see it that way…but they don’t…because you wrote it.

That is what the problem is.

You just blatantly said you wouldbn’t even speak to someone if given the choice based completely on how they look.

And?
No. Elitism is simply thinking you are better than someone in some way. Choosing not to speak to someone because they don’t visually meet your criteria could be seen that way.
Strawman. The issue isn’t about who you are attracted to. If you truly gave everyone the same respect, how they look wouldn’t weigh into whether you would choose to even speak with them or not.

I train at home with dogs for company. Best workout partners there are. They don’t go near the bench or cage and get petted and play when I sit between sets.

I always felt like all the talking and crap at the gym was mostly a big distraction.

This thread is hilarious.
Equating the mentality that people who aren’t huge should not be welcome here with someone not wanting to marry a morbidly obese person? Really?
They should take “Intelligent” out of the description of this forum.

I dropped names of authors because they are smart people who’ve noticed the same things I have, namely, little if any muscle gain after a certain amount of time, and the potential of naturals.

No one cares who you want to marry.

Poor work at trying to change what was being discussed.

he said he wouldn’t even choose to speak to someone who was morbidly obese.

And no one said someone shouldn’t feel welcome here. That would be oversimplifying what was actually stated. It might help if you quoted what was actually written because your memory seems to add things.

I didn’t ask you what you “noticed”. I asked you to show proof or at least some evidence of very specific things that you have claimed. You avoid each of those.

Define a physique in your opinion that warrants a head nod so to speak. What in Prof X’s opinion is a physique that puts someone into the ‘good ole boys’ club at the gym or gives them cyber cred?

Would you marry a walrus? No?

ELITIST!!!

Would you date a 90-year old woman? No?

ELITIST!!!

Would you sleep with someone who has AIDS? No?

ELITIST!!!

bwhitwell.

Need more?

I have no clue how I’m avoiding it by using a combination of things I said before:

 1. Following bodybuilding for 17 years.
 2. Reading the works of some highly involved people, some with related degrees AND DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCE in nutrition and exercise physiology.
 3. Looking at what thousands of top bodybuilders have achieved in the past six decades.

Obviously, you’re not fond of this list, or my reasoning.

You were asked how many of those guys started training after the age of full maturity.

Please answer this.
