Intelligence is the ability to acquire and accurately comprehend information. I believe you have a decent dose of that.
Intellectual discipline is the ability to recognize when one may not yet be in possession of sufficient and accurately comprehended information to warrant a secure and defensible conclusion. You are lacking in that as many younger people are.
Here’s tip. Never ever be afraid to fully hear opposing positions. If you are it betrays a lack of confidence in your own. Opposing positions, acquired and accurately comprehended will either give you the opportunity to revise your views or confirm the ones you presently hold. It is however wisest to suspend judgment until all relevant information is brought to bear on a position.
