CT, going on a trip and when I come back I’m going to start your layer system outlined here.
As a “brainless” way of doing it could it simply be done as you outlined here rotating through the three hdl methods every 4 weeks?
Also, what split would you use for max muscle layering? High pull, incline tilt, TBDL, high pull, Decline tilt, off, off?
I’ll take pics and let you all see the results after a 12 week block.
(1) Yes you could do that… in which case the proper order would be:
1- 5-4-3-2-1
2- Extended set HDL
3 - Hard 5
(2) The split looks fine. I’m currently training an IFBB pro with the layer system and we do it kinda like that, but we have a whole day (6th day) devoted to back/lats since it’s his weak area.
Also, do you still recommend 4-6 sets of back work on high pull days? Any additional hamstring work on TBDL day a la Meadows? I’m really liking the look of extra thick hamstrings more these days.
was there also a shoulder press day every third or fourth pressing day right?
Thanks for the quick replies, appreciated as always

I’m personally adding leg curls and reverse hypers after either high pulls and Dead-Squats, no so much for the look, but to prevent injuries since I’m starting to high pull some ridiculous weights. But yeah, it can be done.
If you are doing a full back day, no need to add lats work after high pulls. You do biceps work.
CT so what what be a good way to incorporate the stretch reflex in? Would you go through all three periods just using pins and then start a whole new training cycle without pins?

I like to switch every 3-4 weeks. If you are really afraid of losing your timing, after the pressing layers from pins do 4 sets of 3 EXPLOSIVE reps with 60% on the regular bench press.
Finally found this info on periodizing …faching insane! So glad I found this one. @CT the “Tool Box” post was hilarious…I once new a girl with a tool box as well…lots of fun. LOL
@CT: In regards to peridization and 4 week blocks i noticed you recommended a 4 week strength block in an earlier post, as you thought the hyper cycle lost effectiveness after a certain time. Could i build these strength cycles in each 4 weeks between the 3 different stages of periodization you mentioned up top?
Nice Lonnie123… looking forward to seeing your results. I am thinking about following a similar 12 week Thibaudeau Max Muscle Layering block after I finish with my Mountain Dog 12 week Champion Season Program #3.

Yes, I actually prefer that approach over doing 4 blocks of hypertrophy in a row.
brandon76 wrote: @CT: For high pulls on week 4 of a prioritization block what do we use instead of max pump sets? Speed HDL?
High pulls are explosive work by nature, so speed sets are not useful, they are simply light sets when it comes to the high pulls. I’d personally pic power snatches from blocks for 4 sets of 3 with about 70% of your max power snatch from block (you have some leeway).
@ JP: Werd up. Thanks man. I know CT prob gets annoyed with my confusion…but I really want to get the latest info possible…its work trying to sort it all out sometimes!

NAH, I’m always glad to help. And if there is some confusion, it’s likely that I didn’t explain 100% properly the first time around and thus that others will also learn from your questions.
