King Size, very firm.
Would like a bit softer but the firm mattress helps my back.
Spent $1600 on bed, box spring and frame.
Bought it at Sleepys.
I don’t think quality makes that much of a difference for me. The size of the bed makes a HUGE difference if you share the bed every night. I’m loving the King size bed after upgrading from a Queen. Defnitely worth the money.

I spent big bucks on a Sleep Number, king size, best one they made, with adjusting head and feet.
IT SUCKS.
My side goes flat by the time I wake up. I tried, repeatedly, to get warranty work, to no avail — and I’m a lawyer who keeps his records, etc.
They refused to come out and perform warranty work. I had to bring it to their shop.
That didn’t work.
Eventually, I realized it was either going to be “sue them” or “live with it.” Due to time pressure, I elected to “live with it” and moved the POS to the guest room.

Yea, I slept on a few in Japan, definitely enjoyed it.
However I’m a firm believer in firm beds (see that there). As far as not being in pain that is.
That being said, how firm are those options?
I would definitely say the futon is firmer than the memory foam. However, the first time I used the memory foam bed (it was box spring mattresses before that) I jumped on it (belly flop style) and knocked the wind out of myself. So yea, those are pretty hard at first too.

What do you use for a box spring etc? Frame?

The same thing that a sleep number uses. Check out the website. It will have wood slates you can use. You can also probably put it on the floor but i don’t believe that is the most sanitary option.

NEVER AGAIN. WORST MATTRESS I HAVE EVER OWNED.
Sleep Number sucks!
Man, that sucks, Jewie. My wife and I were all set to buy a Sleep Number last year, but she decided to look up testimonials online first, and boy did she find some bad ones very similar to what you experienced!
We decided instead on buying the exact bed we loved at the W Hotel in NY. Like sleeping on a cloud.

I bought some cheap POS (~$600) at ‘metro mattress’ or something last spring. I totally regret it. For the first month the thing was like laying on the floor and I had neck aches all the fucking time. It came as a surprise - the one I laid on in the store seemed a hundred times better. I guess I didn’t consider obese individuals laying on it god knows how many times before though…
After a couple months it didn’t feel as stiff (or maybe I got used to it) but once winter rolled in it magically shrank in width. My wife gets cold and huddles me into the wall and I wake up feeling like I am in an oven (obscene amounts of sweating) and I can’t move.
I’m considering buying a hammock and hiding it in my closet.
When my wife falls asleep I’m going to hang it off the ceiling and sleep there. I’ll set an alarm on my cellphone to wake up a half hour before she does and quietly hide the hammock and sneak back into bed.
It’d probably save me a few arguments since I’m pushing her off the left side of my body almost every night to have her wake up and angrily scream “I’m COLDDDD!” at me. I might actually get half a night of sleep too!

Women always seem be burning hot in bed, simple solution, eat some chickpeas a few hours before bed and the smell will keep her away
No one really knows what mattresses are meant to gain from life. They are large, friendly, pocket-sprung creatures that live quiet, private lives in the marshes of Sqornshellous Zeta, where they “follop and vollue” to amuse themselves. Many of them get caught, slaughtered, dried out, shipped out and slept on. None of them seems to mind this much and all of them are called Zem, so their concern and grief - “globbering” - is kept to a minimum.
Mattresses make a variety of noises that are not supposed to be able to be made by other lifeforms throughout the galaxy, such as willomies, globbers, flurs, and glurries. Those being only a few examples. Mattresses are also capable of doing things floopily, meaning in a floopy manner.
