Mathematically, Calories to Lose Fat?

A while ago, there was an article explaining how many calories you need to burn your body fat off. The total was obtained by using your daily activity + any cardio you did + weight raining excercising and did a magic equasion and you had your answer.

I think the author was a teacher at the university of Waterloo or Toronto.

Can anyone tell me where this article is?

I’m not sure of the article to which you’re referring, but all such formula still just give you an estimate.

It’s just as easy to record what you eat everyday and adjust if you want to gain or lose “mass.”

I can’t find the article but I think that I know what you’re talking about. Im not sure but I think it said something like 3500 calories = 1 pound. So cutting your calories by 500 per day should supposedly make you lose 1 pound per week.

It was more complicated then that though. Any help is appreciated. I’ll keep looking myself.

Dude… Just follow your diet, stick to your exercise and cardio programs, and the fat will come off? Why do you need to know EXACTLY how many calories to burn? Focus on the big picture, not the minutia.

The diet I’m following adds up to 2064 calories a day but I really think I should be getting somewhere around 2200 calories a day.

I’m at 200 lbs 18-20% BF. I want to prove myself wrong.

If you do not get this 136 calories figured out quick please let us know where we can send the flowers for your impending funeral.

haha thanks for the laughter.

While dieting, i’m very cautious of muscle wasting, which is why I would like to find the article.

I’d actually be interested just to see what they did. Nothing wrong with wanting to know how stuff works.

There’s no formula that’s going to show you exactly what you need. At best, they will just give you an estimate as a place to start.

You’re already past this point if you know your exact caloric intake.

According to the T dawg diet, which I’m not saying is gospel but a nice place to start you should getting about 2500 calories in order to cut if you are 200 lbs.

Simply take 200X15-500.

I am loosely following this, but I gotta watch it because too little and screw muscle wasting i just feel miserable.
