Please tell me youre joking, you didnt know if Canadian cops carried guns? This threads realy offtopic man. BTW Canada has the best beer.

I honestly didn’t know if canadian cops carried guns. English cops don’t, and canada is still heavily affiliated with england. Sorry for my ignorance.

If I’m not mistaken cops here in Toronto carry 9mm’s. We have swat type units, the whole deal. I like cops, don’t get me wrong, we’d be fucked without law enforcement.

Yea most cops are cool, but some of the ones I’ve dealt with are real turds, especially s.w.a.t, thats a long story though…

Yes,that is a funny ass movie.

As to your gun question.

Most of the Police forces’s in canada have standard service pistols that everyone carries. You guys get to pick your own guns in the states right? My dad carries two ( a little out of the ordinary)-a glock 22 .40cal and a smaller glock 23 .40 cal. He also used to carry a small .32 as a backup when doing vice work.

When he was going into the provincial weapons enforcement unit to do UC work he had the choice of carrying a desert eagle. He declined because he likes the glock. I have shot it many times, and it has some good stopping power.

One weird thing is that the canadian border police are finally getting guns. Took the government long enough to realize guns are good.

Hey we all know guns are bad and they kill people all by themselves. Aside from the border police finally getting what they need, I’m still amazed at the BS being put forth by some gov. tools. remember the idea of having the gun manufacters being held responsible for shooting deaths? That’s brilliant, the same type of thinking that blames our friends to south for the influx of guns, not the sum bringing them. Not to mention the gun registry.

Finally in the procees, let’s see what happens. I remember the Libs saying that it would cost a million, now it’s well over a billion and yet Toronto had it’s highest rate of gun murders last year. What a joke all it did was hassle the legit gun owners. I know some officers are in favor and in theory it’s a good idea. Of course gangbangers don’t register their weapons. If I’m not mistaken guns were always required to be registered here. The Long Gun registry. I may well be wrong, I’m sure keaster would be better informed on that.

I think with most departments, the standard patrolmen are issued a gun, but the detectives are allowed to buy their own. I hate 9mm, I personally think that cops should be armed with .40 smith and wesson, and many departments are switching to that now.

Yeah 9mm is crap. No power. I really like glocks. Have you ever held/ used one Fife.

I don’t think there’s a standard rule. Each department has it’s own rules. I had to buy my own everything. Good news is I still have my Sig .40 3 years later. I know FWPD used to issue these modified baretta .40 DAO but you could buy your own. DPD issued and mandated a sig 9.

I think the guy who said Border Patrol is dead on. The thing about the feds is that the more prestigious agencies are competitive as heck. The initial security clearance is a bich. Once you get that you can move around a bit. Look for an agency that is hiring.

Look at the Border Patrol, look at the Bureau of Prisons, I applied for the Secret Service once. They were having a job fair, I got all excited, typed up a resume, put my suit on, drove down to Waco one Sturday morning. I thought they wanted agents. They wanted somebody to sit in the guardshack at the Crawford ranch, it was a big pay cut, and I’d lose my cushy day shift/weekends/holidays that I had as a court bailiff but it was a foot in the federal door so I went ahead and applied. Somewhere during that process I got accepted to law school so I withdrew my application.

Are court baliff’s licensed LEO’s, or are they more along the lines of a probation officer?

I have shot 9mm, but never a glock. I have only ever owned smith and wessons, and I don’t really see any reason to change.

Mike,
Thanks for the kind words above.

As for Fife, give him time, heck I was 37 when I realized I was basically a libertarian at heart. Look at it this was, I think you and I probably agree that alcohol is overly regulated in this country. Probably goes back to Mother Hillary and her big government know what’s best for us, so they pass laws to save us from ourselves.

I’m not really losing sleep over underage drinking, but as long as we are trying to stop it and these are the laws then his job is kind of a neccesary evil. Kind of like meter maids, I bet a lot of us see that as kind of a thankless job, maybe a neccessary evil, and really a touch of a dirty job.

Here in Fort Worth, the city uses as kind of a stepping stone to the police department. They’ll get some young kids who are interested in police work, send them out with a ticket book, see if they can follow instructions, come to work 2 days in a row, get along with supervisors n so forth.

Compare this to Houston, where the meter maids just looked like your average fat civil servant. I don’t like getting a parking ticket any more than the next guy but I’m glad to see some young guy getting some experience, instead of sitting home playing playstation, smokin dope and waiting on the lottery or a welfare check.

I would agree that some freedoms. Last fall I took a class on administrative law. I was disturbed at how much deference the courts would give to a rule made by an agency whose leader is appointed, and thus not directly accountable to the voters.

If you have some ideas how to get the country back peacefully I’d like to hear them. Also, check out www.wallbuilders.com see what they say about the founding fathers original intent.

Good night

Every place that I’m familiar with they are licensed state peace officers. In my department it was the same pay grade as patrol, warrants, the defectives, etc. I moved to the courts laterally from crime scene. I met a guy the other day who was a retired customs officer.

Probation is a whole other animal altogether. They are considered officers of the court. They don’t actually arrest people but they can have a warrant issued pretty easily and a probation revocation requires a lower burden of proof than a criminal case. In the federal courts some probation officers are armed.

In kansas, probation officers don’t have any powers at all. They are basically a glorified secretary. Some are special probation officers, and they can do probation revocation and arrests, but most of the time they have to get a LEO to do anything.

The name is rainjack - and I am not judging a whole country based a couple of peoples post. I am judging you for getting on here and pissing all over this kid’s thread.

And just for future reference there Einstein - it’s “D-O-U-C-H-E”.

And being from Texas gives me the express right to run down any lesser country or state. Look it up - it’s a real rule.

You are just a punk-assed canadian fuck with no real reason to be posting on this thread other than to jump all over a guy that has done nothing to you.

I am tired you fucks shitting up this website. Wanna bitch about what this kid does? How about starting your own fucking thread and getting your spoiled-brat nose out of this one?

Fucking canadian punk-assed alcoholic teenagers.

Are you stupid? I already told you that YOU were the internet tough guy - how hard is that to understand? I could give a shit who you were talking shit to. You should have started your own thread instead of pissing on Barney’s. And he is no pussy. Like I said - YOU ARE.

Not on a continuous basis - only when the names fit. And in your case, they should have your photo next to those words in the dictionary.

Compared to you - a dam turnip is witty, so I guess the term is relative.

And you prove your lack of wit with this. What is bogoted? The fact that you are canadian, and on this thread running down a kid from Kansas? I can’t help that you are not american. I can thank God that you are not a Texan, though.

It is morons like you that cause me to post like I do. I have said earlier - if you want to rip Barney a new asshole - start a thread. He was asking for advice - not condescending judgement from the likes of you.

Looking up my last few posts does not make you an expert. Obviously.

And you are here running your mouth because it helps with your physique goals.

Please Sparky. For the love of everything that is decent - don’t get into a sparring match with me. You are out-matched.

How about calling everyone else a pussy and moron? Oh wait, you’ve done that on a continuos basis. You’re so witty, bet you were the class clown with all your clever quips.

You’re right I forgot that having balls and being smart is measured in ones’ ability to call people pussy on a internet forum. You must be one of the smartest and manly guys to ever visit here. If the abilty to spew bullshit and bigoted crap is a measure of IQ, you are the smartest guy here by far.

Thankfully most Americans on here and ones I’ve met aren’t represented by you. It’s geniuses like you that give Americans a bad and undeserved rep. It’s your way or the highway, right?

Like I said. go back to the religious and political forums, you’re not here to pursue anything bodybuilding related.

Computer Forensics! It is very useful in Law Enforcement today. Even for a patrol officer. Taking psychiatry or other courses like that are very helpful too! oh and learn spanish.
