I think it is more than fair to lay some of the blame on Germany for that.

By the way those links came from about 2 minutes on Google. All first page. I didn’t bother reading the other 25 pages.
Do you only agree with Amnesty International when they agree with the point you are trying to make…like something regarding Gitmo?
Are you sure you live in Germany? When I was there in the late 80’s the German cops were known to swing a thing called a truncheon pretty freely for just about any reason. One of the main reasons they would beat on you was if you were Turkish or Kurdish. God help a Turk who actually got caught comitting a crime. I hear they aren’t to fond of Scientologists these days. Do they welcome guest workers with open arms these days in the Fatherland?
AND [since apparently, this wasn’t enough]
German cops use impact weapons. Batons and truncheons. Far more destuctive to the intended victim then a taser.
Ask a guest worker or a G8 protestor?
US Police aren’t trigger happy and bad shooting are investigated thoroughly in the US, nor covered up. Again ask a G8 protestor how quick the Germans are with their cell keys and what crimes they were charged with? Too funny.
Your hatred has blinded you from reality. Read something not written by a Social Democrat and make an informed opinion.
I’m glad I live in a country where they beat you with sticks and not taser you, for reasons you obviously do not understand or don’t want to.
The majority of my friends is left, of course ( since being openly right in Germany is more or less an invitation for trouble). Funny enough, this is the only time they’d agree with you: namely that Germany’s police is really mean and evil and that they routinely cover up their brutalizings.
In reality however, most young guys who become cops here can’t believe how little authority they have and either burn out or quickly strive for a higher education & career, away from the street.
Turks have a good life in Germany. I should know, I know a shitload of them and lived practically constantly near quasi-turkish hotspots (even now)- unlike you. The problem is that many young Turks don’t know if they should feel german, turkish or whatnot and have a poor education as well as religious/ cultural background which is undemocratic and backward and doesn’t really help integration. Most don’t realize that and just whine.
And scientologies can go fuck themselves. It’s not a religion. If you start giving out tax benefits too freely, walmart and citibank will soon apply, too.
G8:Compare how we treated the protesters with other countries.
Not ideal, but still.
Lefties will always whine, no matter how police treats them, as you know. I spare you anecdotes of certain “castor-transports” through Germany, how left wingers and green party members endangered atomic transports and how mindblowingly delicate and tender most of the time the cops engaged them. Since you’re a Germany-expert, you already know.
You still fail to see the point: Our cops here get wet batons when they imagine how their american colleagues can treat a citizen - and get legally away with it.

You need a bigger set of pom poms.
I see a lot of excuse making for your dumbass statement.
It would be much simpler if you were to say - “I was talking out of my ass”.
But no…you are making an idiot out of yourself.
Why am I not surprised?

Hahaha. That’s a joke.
Actually it’s a fact. Travel a bit and you will see.
Try some really stupid shit in Mexico or other parts of South America, Asia or Africa and see what trigger happy really means.
Focus. We were talking about Germany.[/quote]

A cop will taser you for the most BSy reasons, while producing his baton is hard work where he might actually break a sweat. Also, pummeling a guy, even when done legally, means lots of paperwork and bad PR. You can’t argue with media who has a photo of a beaten up face.
Think of the guy who was tasered in front of Kerry: In Germany, they would have had to drag him out, totally without batons.

Man up schwarzy. We’ll think better of you.
You are wrong. Admit it.
I lived in Germany. I know what the cops are like. You have never been to America. All you can do is speculate. You also haven’t posted one independent source that says how lovely and embracing the German police are to all they meet while I have posted numerous sources to the contrary. Time for you to go now.
I associate whith whomever I want and it isn’t an invitation for trouble. As tp scientologists it’s not about tax benefits. God knows that has already come to haunt your country, it’s about freedom of religion. You wouldn’t abuse the Muslims the way you do the scientologists. That’s simply a failure of character nothing more.
Now be honest with yourself. If given the choice would you rather have a pissed off cop beat you with a baton until you are unconcious or taser you? I know you can’t be honest in a public forum but if you think about it (I know something difficult) you will see how silly the comments you are making sound and how nonsensical they sound.

We can discuss that in another thread or via PM.
In a sense, you are certainly right.

Clearly you don’t much about either weapon. Using the end of a baton a proficient operator (German policeman with training) could break most of your ribs and crush joints with several basic movements. Not hard.

I admit a mistake if I honestly feel so.
First, do you know if I was ever in America?
I scarcely post links, I consider it mostly a waste of time. The internet gives you every opportunity to substantiate just about everything, from gay viruses to ufos. I prefer reason and books, for the most part.
I have personally witnessed more police action the the average german, I suppose. You wouldn’t believe me how much crap you can produce here without ever doing time. Perhaps we can afford that luxury because guns aren’t allowed, I dunno.
Freedom of religion. Strawman? Let me say, though, that you cannot have it both ways:
Either our police is beating the crap outof Turks with these batons you guys are so keen to visualize (the disturbing images of that british minister somehow sneaks into my head)and opresses them or we “fear” thoes muslims and let them have their whacky religion. You should decide.
Tell me also: Scientology is a true religion for you?
And yes, I want to get beaten by a baton before I get tasered any day, for reasons I already laid out.
A baton I can fight. The state’s henchman has to look into my eyes and fight his fears. He can be made responsible if he manages to hurt me. I will not fall to the ground, perhaps headfirst onto the concrete, receive additional shots (they rarely tase you once, the bastards) piss myself and be dragged away by an obese cop and his female partner.
Also, like I already said, you’d get tasered a lot more easily then receive a beating.
Would you?

I don’t think young Turks are sweating it too hard:
Excellent points on Native American genocide, or lack thereof, Neph.

It is, in fact, a myth. It was mentioned in passing in an English military captain’s (I think) letter and there is no evidence to suggest even this isolated suggestion took place, let alone any large scale practice.
Even when animosity was at its peak, the Indians were offered money to move West. If genocide were on the minds of the Americans, such offers would never have been made.

Just as a sad aside, a note on ecologic paleontology.
Before the colonization of the 17th century, Indians of Virginia and Carolinas would burn patches of forest in the fall, and in the winter and spring, deer and other animals would gather in the new glades, and the hunting was thereby easier for the Indians.
By the time, in the mid-to late 17th century, that whites penetrated from the Eastern Seaboard, they found nearly impenetrable, continuous, second-growth forests. So many indians had died of measles (and perhaps smallpox), well in advance of the expansion of white settlement, that they no longer had hunters, burners, or their whole society.
