I chose Miranda and Secondary Black Guy(I forget his name) to lead the fire teams. I chose Thane for infiltration, but I saw his lack of tech skills fucked him. And hard. BOOM HEADSHOT!

I didn’t even see Mordin die. I just saw his body on the floor as Collectors ran by him.

Did you upgrade the armor on your Normandy?

Spoiler alert for you new people!
During my first 2 speed playthroughs practically everyone died… Didn’t upgrade much… Was pretty funny though. We saved humanity, but sort of lost 9 out of 10 people in the process.

Now I’m doing my first proper one, on insane no less. This is going to be fun.

1.Why do a speed playthrough? That seems pointless to me.
2.9 out of 10 died and you didn’t even upgrade your ship? Come on, Carnage. You have to care about your squad.

Even worse on Insanity. EVERYTHING has armor and shields. I empty my assault rifle on 2 guys. Since those goddamn thermal clips were supposed to be interchangeable I don’t understand why my sniper rifle (read: the only gun worth using against anything on that difficulty) is out of ammo but my shitty shotgun isn’t.

Still an amazing game, but annoyances are enhanced on Insanity.
Are you playing it on pc or xbox?
Xbox.

Insanity difficulty is an exercise in masochism. I’d advise pretty much anyone against it. At least if you’re playing a soldier, other classes may be easier.
Well, may be due to controller issues… When getting in enough headshots, it’s entirely doable as a soldier on the PC, though not exactly easy.
No, I get plenty of headshots, but stuff like YMIR mechs make me redo stuff 5 times. Cannon fodder doesn’t give me too much trouble, but those fuckers are hard to kill since it strips you of all your gun upgrades when you restart.

Call me Space Obama!

I did the speed playthroughs to try out skill setups, party configs and get some playing styles out of the way which I would normally not do (renegade… Seriously, I’m such a goody-two-shoes normally… But this way at least I got all the funny responses out of Jack and Grunt)… Had little time available, too… That’s not something I have done before, but I figured what the hell… Now that you mention it, it was indeed kind of silly…

Enjoying my current game though and I’m now doing just about every side quest there is and listening in on every funny conversation…

About the upgrades: I didn’t know it would end like that, the first time I was like “oh shit”, the second time my evil twin took over and I let all the guys I didn’t like die miserable deaths. Also, the resource gathering is so damn boring…
Over half my current playthrough’s length has been spent on scanning and deploying probes (they should have made it orbital bombardment and slave raids rather than scanning for resources. Would make zero sense, but it’d be a lot more fun. Who could possibly get tired of nuking/raiding entire civilizations and then getting resources out of it for no reason?)

I hate that krell, I tell you. It’s an abomination!

Hmmm, maybe the xbox version handles things differently… Ok, they take an awful lot of ammo to kill, but with enough cover etc (and you usually have a clip or two lying around the area) it’s doable… Keep your party alive, even though they can suck pretty badly they still have unlimited ammo… Order them around (one who can take some damage constantly on the run, the other behind… etc).

If you’re daring and have decent shields, try being the runner yourself (or go in tandem with another guy from your party if cover is spaced too far apart to only take light damage/recover fast enough before the mech targets your damage dealer) and have your team mates stand behind at to the side of the mech.

Works for me, but you constantly have to order them around… I’m still used to that from Clive Barker’s Jericho though…

Heart attack? Or maybe he ended up choking on his own tongue for once?

Yep. On a 360 no less…

And I played it all the way through to the “so that’s it?” ending.

It had it’s good sides, but yeah…

well I can’t really judge you. A couple of my favorite games are pretty sub-par. anybody remember Kingdom Under Fire? the RTS game not the dungeon crawler.

finished my Renegade playthrough. nobody died.

new DLC drops tomorrow. Cerberus armor and a shotgun.

I’m done with this game. I beat it once, I have no reason to beat it again. Up until the 3rd one comes out.

So I got a 360 yesterday cheap from a friend and this game will be my first purchase!

I’d suggest picking up the first one, it’s a great game and you can get it for like 20 bucks.

Like somebody said earlier, it’s not by any means necessary for the second, but it’s just a good game and adds some depth to your ME2 experience when you see how the characters you affected earlier in the time line are doing the next time you see them.

It doesn’t take very long at all to go through the first one once, 15 hours tops.

ME2 is a lot longer.

I was thinking about that as well just for the fact your saved data carries over into the second one. I’m tight for cash so a $20-30 game will do just fine. Thanks.

If you don’t play the first I’d imagine that most of Mass Effect 2 is confusing as hell. They reference past events from ME1 every 2 seconds.

Personally, I felt like ME1 had too many things going on. The items and armor were a pain in the ass because there were like 50 different parts of your equipment.

That’s my argument to play ME1 first – you won’t realize its flaws until you play ME2, and you can actually enjoy it.

Mass Effect 2 is ghey hmmkay all about GoW 3 in March GOTY BITCES!

Well guess what Optheta I will be playing both!

Great game, but was anyone else annoyed by the fact that there were only 2 or 3 guns per weapon type. I thought that this was one of the games few shortcomings and that they could of added some more variety by having guns with different uses. An example of this is the assault rifle you could either use the battle rifle which wasn't full auto of the full auto one which was much weaker. That annoyed me.

Finally finished it yesterday. I definitely took my time.

It was a 32-hour playthrough. I went a very Renegade route (something I don’t normally do the first playthrough.) Some fucking how I had three people die on my team on the suicide mission. I sent Tali in the pipes but she died afterward (I lost her loyalty when I sided with Legion on something,) Legion then died at one point before one of the final battles (fucking pissed me off, best character in the game IMO,) and then that bitch Wrex died holding the line. WTF?

I got to fuck Jack pretty easily. I was super agressive with her. Miranda’s storyline took forever, but I got it done. Next time I’m gunning for Tali, that chick next to the World Map, and the Justicar (forgot her name.)

Played through on Hardcore the first time, found it a bit easy. Was an Infiltrator… my new favorite class. Tactical Cloak pretty much saved my ass more times than I’d care to admit.

Yaaaaay her come playthroughs 2-7!
