Masculine Excellence Requires Discipline

I did the same thing about 7-8 years ago and couldn’t be happier. It was the biggest creator of anxiety for me. It’s amazing to see how much a part of most people out there’s lives. Good for you for voicing a change you want to make. Usually saying it out loud is the hardest part. Good luck with your new direction! T nation is a great community and here to support you!!

Date night tonight, macros won’t be tracked. Was supposed to train, but was busy setting up home gym and ran out of time. Pictures incoming when i get the opportunity to post.

Still waiting on the plate tree/dumbbell stand to show up, but I got the Glute Ham Raise/Reverse Hyper set up.
Need bigger dumbbells, probably going to get the Ironmaster system, but that $1300 investment is going to be on the backburner for a bit.

Anyways, here’s the new setup.

Oh, and date night was great. I got myself an amazing woman.

Intentionally skipped kegs last week for knee health. I intended to hit arms but was too busy doing “cardio” to be totally honest. Marriage is going great, thanks for asking :joy:

I think these tend to trend together - awesome to hear!

Let me know if you figure it out. I have to retool my leg training completely like once every 10-12 weeks because something that was doing fine is now the most painful movement ever.

I’ve never been able to get along with the hack squat either. Was either knee or low back issues. Was just never a comfortable movement for me. I pretty much went to smith if i wanted a machine type movement. Still get that “Locked in” feeling where you just have to push and no worry to much about stabilizing. Just my experience.

Valid experience! I am having trouble with the squat (again!) lately. It takes a real toll on me. I’ve been playing with the belt squat. I really like squatting, and I don’t want to hang it up, but it’s getting to where my choice is to squat once in a week or do all my other workouts that week.

I was having back issues last couple months so i didn’t squat at all. Just able to load back again in the last week. I’m just starting over going light and really deep rather than heavy and pretty deep. Sometimes taking a step back to go forward is the path.

Totally agree with you. I get a lot out of lightening up and going close stance and deep like you’re talking about too. It hurts my feelings to write it down on the Internet, but it’s definitely the smart choice.

Yep. This game is about longevity.

Ironically leg press and actual squats just cause issues for me in my hip or lower back but Hack Squats feel great. I’ve used better and worse Hack Squat machines though.

The main thing for me is being able to push my back into a pad so it doesn’t round (which seems to be my problem when squatting down).

Had a Software Quality Engineer interview yesterday, felt like we clicked but we’ll see. I’ll have my Baccalaureates by September regardless.

  • Subbed DB Rows out for Unilateral Machine Rows. Exhausted the dumbbell tree at 110s :man_shrugging:

Struggling to find fat deposits large enough for 1/2" pins… a good problem to have. Class tonight.
Everything in life feels like it’s just clicking. Marriage, family, gym, school, work… all of it.

Where do you find his programs? Joining the site?

You can buy his book, which covers his stuff best - or watch his videos, instagram, or probably also by joining his site. I just bought the book and watched the videos explaining his methodology.

He posts a lot of his ‘paid’ content freely if you dig for it through instagram or YT.

New gym today. Dumbbells top out at 120 so i give it 2 months. Big dudes at the gym were giving me the ‘sup nod’ and the small dudes were lookin salty.

  • Biceps were dying today but shoulders and triceps were getting it in. Attributing this to poor recovery… sleep and stress have been much worse than usual this week.

I need to yell at a gymnastics coach this afternoon but have an hour to kill between work and yelling, so I’ll probably try making up some of my lagging LISS Cardio.

I like the look of this programming. Seems like it would be good for pushing strength while chasing size, and doesn’t seem like you’d be spending 2 hours in the gym. May have to check out his stuff
