On the forward lean, I’m sorta figuring it out…sometimes I wonder if the forward lean is just a matter of body levers and how one is built, so you could be right on the hard wired. But I think I’ve managed a few form tweaks that may have ameliorated my lean. These are: keeping my chest up and IN FRONT of the bar, which for me means pushing the bar into my back (if that makes sense). Then again, you’re lifting REALLY HUGE weights. Me not so much. So we’ll see what happens when I get on with the big girl plates.

Now that I’m a POWERLIFTER! , I’ve scheduled 1 rest day. So i’m doing 4 lifting days, 2 conditioning/cardio days (depending on how I feel re: Doms). Were I doing a different kind of training, for soccer for example, I might be training 7 days a week. Normally, I can run 14 days straight of some form of training when I’m at the peak of my hormone cycle, but then I deload pre-menses. I’m all about capitalizing on strong days.
As for the food sitch, no I wouldn’t plan to eat moderatley the night before if I knew I were resting the following day. What I would do is eat as I normally would the night before, and then probably NOT have any snacks that day (i wouldn’t be hungry for them anyways) and start my feed earlier, say after work, rather than at 9p after the gym. Warrior-diet is pretty auto-regulating once you get the hang of it.

Alright, bitch, I can’t deprive you of the puke worthy track workouts, that’s for sure.
Basically the track stuff was training I was doing in prep for soccer season sob But since that got sidelined (punny!) I switched the more aggressive long sprints for just some 400 tempo runs. I don’t want to stop the conditioning while I’m PLing. I can’t! Its part of my true nature.
On my condo day, I also do a jump program which was also in prep for soccer - my broad jump is getting pretty good!
Frankly, I think this stuff is bolstering my lifting. But I’m not sports scientists, so what do I know?
Here’s the fucking 'orrible one (these are the times you should aim for):
800 x 1 rest 2:00 min ( 3:30)
400 x 2 rest 60 sec ( 1:45)
2 min rest
200 x 3 rest 60 sec ( :45)
2 min rest
100 x 4 rest 45 sec ( :18)
7 min rest
Repeat starting at 100s working back up to 800
I only ONCE repeated this, and I almost fucking died.
And here’s what the tempo run looks like:
400 run 200 walk
repeat 6 times
complete in 27.5 min or less
This one isnt so bad, I did it in 21 minutes. The 400s are nasty, but as a soccer player, I can recover at a jog pretty easy. Recovery is my strong suit. Lol! No surprise there.

As a reminder, my goal is to add as much as is realistically possible to my maxes by April. Why April? Because I am a) super goal oriented b) still capitalizing on my newbie gains c) feeling out the whole PLing bit
Once I re-test my maxes in April, I’ll reassess and see where I want to take my lifting from there.
As I mentioned, I’m running a linear periodization - something akin to 8s, 5s, 3-2-1.
I’m just finishing up my 3rd and final week of 8s. So there’s been quite a bit of volume. Basically, I’m prepping, trying to get my stremfs up and my form nailed down. Next week I’ll start on the 5s. Here’s a sample of what I’ve been doing these last few weeks:
Monday - Squat bonanza!

single arm DB row - 8x40, 50, 50
Rear delt - 12x15, 20, 15x15
lat raise - 8x15, (20/2, 6/15), 8x15
skull crushers - 12x40, 11x45, (3/50, 8/45)
weighted chins (12 total) - 4x3x10
I definitely feel like I’m getting stronger, and my form is getting more streamlined.
For my squat - Its almost getting to where I envision it (nod to Germanone and Nadia, who I use as my vision). Its so close! I think I definitely have my form pretty much figured out, just gotta get my technique down. I want it to be clean and beautiful!! bangs fist on table Sigh…
For my bench - I really have no clue on bench technique. Again, I’m just mimicking what I see in vids (Up’s vids re: grip, also Frenchie’s old vids re: setup). I brought out my grip quite a bit and that’s def made me feel more solid. Who knew you had to have your grip so wide?!?!
Today I do my jumping and sprints and agility and ball work.
Then its upper and DL - will report back by Saturday with the crazy 8s on that shiz.

Frenchie! Honestly, no. I don’t hungry before I train, and when I train I don’t really get hungry. Or not more than I would if I had eaten that day. I just go to the gym, go home and then eat my face off! Then go to sleep. Lol. BUT if I do train in the morning I WILL be hungry that day, and I’ll eat normal. When you write it out, it sounds terribly unhealthy…but I assure you I feel great. I just had a nice cup of mocklate!
I only refuel at the gym if it’s longer than 2 hours - which seems to be the trend on my saturday deadlift days. Listening to your body is not unhealthy.

Actually, I asked Germanone to help me with this program - told him what kind of style I like to train in, what I don’t like, and he helped me concoct this bad boy. I think its going to be fun. I also like the way German trains - lots of mid-rep range stuff, which I find particularly fun.
The PLing is going to be a bit different for me when I get down to low rep range. I’m used to higher reps, being a conditioning junkie, but I’m excited to see what the training brings!
