UGH! Fucking disappointing day at the gym. I am the end of my first cycle and my lifts are supposed to be beautiful and tight, and strong. But no. They sucked donkey balls. I’m so pissed.
My stupid glutes, they’re not firing and I’m super mad about this! Everything else is taking over. Quads on the box squats, back on my pulls. WTF?!
When I did my single leg hip thrusts I realized that the left glute is particularly lazy. I just don’t understand it! Especially since my right glute seems to be working pretty well. I wonder if the single leg work in rehab has produced an imbalance since we work my right leg much more than my left…I don’t know, but I need to get down to the bottom of this (no pun intended). It just boggles my mind that my ass can be so huge and yet so useless. Damn you glutes!

Here are the maxes on my main lifts this cycle:
Overhead squat - 8x75
Box Squats - 5x170
But I honestly don’t even want to count these as a win in anyway. First of all they were ugly and completely out of form and I was supposed to do 8 reps of these. Second, I did 8x165 of these the other day and they felt great! So I’m not sure what the problem is here. Anyways, next cycle I’m doing two days of box squats, one where I lower weight and lower box height and stick with 8 reps, and another day where I keep the bench, keep loading weight and drop reps to 5. I’m going to stick with 170 until they actually resemble box squats.
Trap Dl - 5x185
Thinking about standing on a riser for more ROM.
Rack Pulls - 5x155
These are just horrible - all back and so demoralizing. The bar hits about an inch or two below knee. I wanted to keep loading AND add an extra platform so I can start getting more ROM (so I could, you know, start looking like someone who might deadlift one day), but now I’m not sure what to do. I was supposed to be pulling 8s, but I could only get 5 without breaking my back. Grr…
Bench - meh. Not even worth mentiong I hit 3x100.
Do not care and I am replacing with Push Press
Pullups - still going strong. Didn’t test maxes but they’re doing great, so that’s fine.

I’m still writing up my program for Cycle 2. Going to keep it as a 10 day cycle as that’s been good for my knee.
I’m almost 4 months post op, so I should be ready to start hitting below parallel which is one of my goals in this cycle.
Diet’s been pretty good. When I kvetched in here about being a fatty the last time I logged I was weighing in at 135. Weighed in today at 131, so something’s working. I don’t look much different, but whatevs.
I’ll be back when I finish writing my program. I have one more upper day that I want to hit in this cycle, and then its full throttle on Cycle 2. I hope things start improving! I’m feeling a bit demoralized because I honestly can’t figure out how I can clock in at 130 and be such a fucking weakling?! What’s going on?
