It was an awesome movie. My expectations were fairly low to begin with though.

I don’t think we will see spiderman in avengers 2 as he is still property of Sony.

SPOILERS (kind of)******

In Thor it looked like the infinity gauntlet was in the vault. I wonder how they plan on tackling that and if they are going to make Thanos a villain in each of the solo movies.

End spoilers**

Yeah it was in the treasure room along with the eye of oggamoto and a few other important magical items from the Marvel U. Thanos didn’t had to quest to get the infinity gems they had been scattered across the universe so maybe Odin scatters the gems in the next Thor film
That wasn’t the eye of agamatto, it was the orb. The infinity gauntlet was in the vault though.

this question is for all the geeks out there. since there are pretty different variations of the marvel universes. isn’t this avenger movie more towards the ULTIMATE marvel universe? since nick fury is a bald black badass (nick fury is white in the normal marvel series, also badass though) and thor’s armor in the movie is pretty much the one in ULTIMATE marvel. (in the normal marvel series he’s much bigger and doesn’t have the facial hair and wears a helm)

the reboot of spider-man into a small gangly teen would actually be in line with the ultimate marvel series as in ULTIMATE SPIDER MAN, he is actually still in high school, and a small gangly kid. so i guess there’s a higher chance of the “new” spiderman to star in the avengers?

or am i just wishful thinking. ):

*as a marvel fanboy, id have loved it x9999 if hawkeye and black widow were replaced by wolverine and spiderman though. (they are all members of the avengers)

and wtf were all the other superheroes in america doing when the aliens attacked? i.e ghost rider, spiderman, the x-men,daredevil,punisher,fantastic 4. were they all chillin’ at home? lol
How many more wolverine movies do we need? Come on, dude. Hawkeye and Widow have been Avengers since the 80’s.

Black Widow’s ass >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Wolverine.

I was hoping there would be cameos, but like others said, due to licensing agreements, those characters won’t be in the movie. Although, the city is big enough, if marvel wanted to, they could simply explain that they were all fighting at the time, just not in the same exact place that the Avengers were in. Or they could have been out of town, since all of them travel quite a bit and if you weren’t directly involved with the storyline to know it was about to happn, the end battle scene was pretty sudden and over relatively quickly for someone to come help if they’re not there already.

As far as Wolverine and Spiderman, this is the story of how the team came together. They’re Avengers NOW, but they weren’t when the team first started (not that the group from the movie was the same original group either). Also, who hasn’t been an Avenger anyway? I bet if we made a list of all the superheroes who have been Avengers, it would be longer than the list of people who haven’t (especially if we include the West Coast Avengers, Young Avengers, etc.).

I like the idea of the nod to the Defenders. I believe earlier in this thread someone said they thought Namor was going to be in Iron Man 3. Throw Dr. Strange into the mix (a Dr. Strange movie would have potential to be very awesome) and we could easily have a Defenders-type movie in the future.

Oh and the Avengers movie was fucking awesome. Arguably the best comic book movie, depending on what criteria you use.

I’m interested to see how they tie in the Guardians of the Galaxy and especially how they do Warlock with one of the Infinity Gems. Maybe they will have Odin disperse them, but instead of scattering them, he’ll go out and find worthy protectors to keep watch over them and over the course of the next few solo movies, we’ll see Thanos going around gathering them in cutscenes or something. Either way, it’ll be epic.

I hope they introduce Ant-Man, Wasp, Vision, and Scarlet Witch at some point before the Avengers sequal. Not the same without all them… I actually heard a long time ago that they were going to make an Ant-Man movie.

Sorry for the long post, so many things to discuss!

Joss Whedon promises that the Blu Ray release will have 30 minutes of deleted scenes, will be interesting to see what didn’t make the cutting room floor.

One of the scenes is a meeting with Peggy Carter and Captain America in the present day, Whedon got rid of it because it made the film too Cap heavy

For those of you craving more (like me), it looks like you will have to wait at least a year.

Iron Man 3 - release date May 3, 2013

Thor 2 - release date Nov 15, 2013.

hmmm Interesting.

The only Woverine movie I would ever want to see after the last one is the Ultimate version of Hulk meeting Woverine. And I would want them to end the movie like the first book. And 3 years before the next movie…just like the book.

I think they should save Whedon for the Avenger movies. But find other good “Geek” Directors to work on the other cast movies. Iron Man 2 was not good. Capt’s Movie was Ok, Thor’s movie was good but not one was great.

Do you thin it will put into the movie? Or will it just be scene’s?

Cause for Lord of the Rings Jackson went back and added in all the post production stuff that goes into the scenes.

Or did they have a fully edited movie at 3hrs then cut 30minutes of footage?

fyi, this was filmed in Cleveland and it’s hilarious to see ppl being interviewed by the local news talkin up the movie like it’s Die Hard, or T2. I havent seen it yet, probably will download it err rent it legally, but the local news coverage made me lol.

You will be doing yourself a disservice by watching this on a computer screen.

I’m not sure I will get the same feel from TV period. Imax or Imax 3D the only way to see this. I didn’t even like 3D before this movie.

It has a HD output, and i have a decent HDTV. I’m not a big fan of going to the theater, although 3D is very cool.

I do plan on seeing Prometheus in the theater tho.

I haven’t the movie yet, but my utter dislike of Mark Ruffalo is like a thorn in my side regarding his role as Banner. I can’t stand that guy!

I guess I’ll bite my tongue until I see the film.

He is not my favorite actor, but he is great as Banner

I think I might know where ID is coming from in that Ruffalo acts like he’s mildly retarded or stoned or something in all of his roles.

I think that’s why the y picked him…he is the complete opposite of the Hulk’s rampaging power.

Agreed the best banner. I always felt Banner should come across a little nerdy.

Bill Bixby started the intense versions of Banners. (still my childhood favorite).

The Amazing Spider-Man has no links to the Avengers movies. It’ll have a self-contained continuity (the only other Marvel property on Sony’s roster is Ghost Rider). Sony lobbied Marvel for permission to use SHIELD (Parker’s parents were SHIELD agents) but Marvel refused.

IM2 was the weakest of the lot IMO (to date, anyway). They just tried to fit too much in and the robot army climax was just a lazy attempt to make a bigger sequel. Vanko was pushed as Stark’s equal but it never really went anywhere. Hammer should’ve done more than just bankrolled Vanko’s revenge plan.

I’m waiting for some serious Gordon Gecko-style hostile takeover attempts. Stark has some of the most advanced tech on the planet and everyone knows it. Gates and Jobs would’ve been all over this guy.

Yeah it’s mostly Cap capers. Joss Whedon initially considered making Cap a narrator to have the audience adjust to an unfamiliar world (meaning comic newbs) through him. It’s a master stroke. Cap knows jack about pop culture so Whedon explained the references through him without getting preachy.
