His profile is hilarious.

“I can run a 40 in 5.6 at a bulk of 205. Im also the most flexible 205 weightlifer you know. I could do the splits and a back flip.”

“maybe that why I could run so fast.”[/quote]

My doctor told me that I was born with a flexible ligiment in my ankle. Most black people are born with this gene and I am also flexible everywhere else.

Yeah. He’s pretty entertaining all around.

Whats the point of even trying to bench press.

Buddy, you are on the wrong forum. While his ROM is absolute shit, he is still holding +550 pounds in his hand and moving it.
If you put 315 pounds in my hands, i wouldn’t be even able to hold it.
It’s still somewhat impressive.

If everyone was 3 foot nothing and they used bench shuits we would be seeing a whole lot of 500 plus benchers.

I train at a gym with about 30 members. More than half of them bench 500, and a handful of them are doing that raw at over 6ft tall. You have no idea what you are talking about. Stop trolling.

I bet if they were 3 feet they be doing 700 and I do know what I am taking about. I bench about 340…If I was a midget I would be doing about 400 plus and I know that a lot of people could do more then that but thats not the point. Secondly midgets have small arms in comparison to their height even if they are midgets).

Who the fuck cares if they would be benching 700 if they were 3 feet tall? They’re doing just fine benching that at a normal height.

What exactly is your point then? To use this post as an excuse to post your e-numbers and attempt to brag about them some more? 340 bench, wow you really showed me. You must know so much about e-powerlifting with awesome e-numbers like that.

He’s a troll. Don’t give him the satisfaction.

Holy crap that dude’s stroke was tiny.

I was like, “Oh, he’s done?”

Kudos for making lemonade out of lemons.

Here’s the question for everyone who doesn’t think this is impressive:

Where do you draw the line?

When does this sport stop being impressive?

AFAIK, it’s all about the poundages being moved. Minimising ROM and getting the most out of your equipment is a GOOD thing, isn’t it? Why all the bitching, then? If you enjoy powerlifting and the direction it is going in, what’s wrong with this?

Personally, I don’t always find PL’ing interesting to watch. Hate what I’m about to say as much as you like, but the Jen Thompson 286 lb bench is a lot more fun to watch than some of the obscenely huge - yet fully equipped, mega-arched - bench presses.

Do I think PL gear is cheating/doesn’t require effort? Fuck no. Do I think that giving yourself an advantage through minimising ROM is cheating/makes lifts easy? Fuck no. But do they make the sport less interesting to an observer? In my case, yes. Just want to hear what the rest of you have to say on this… Seems appropriate to the thread.

I especially don’t understand why someone like Buckeye Girl spouts off, belittling the “midget and contortionist”/comparing the lifts to a “circus freak show” in one post, then turns around to mock someone who was making a case against the small ROM in the opening video. Or is there a major sarcasm failure on my part?

I agree completely with this. But I have to say, I’ve been impressed with a hell of a lot of people, for a hell of a lot of different types of lifts, under a wide variety of circumstances. I think people pushing themselves to be better than they were yesterday, last week, etc. is the coolest thing about powerlifting.

That setting personal records is such a huge deal that whether you beat the competition or get destroyed is not all that relevant, it is all about pushing yourself to do more than you used to be capable of.

It really is a shame that more things in life aren’t this way. Probably see a lot more examples of excellence in a greater number of circumstances. So many people quit before they really even try.

It was a joke.

That was an IPF bench press comp. It seems like every other week there is talk about a new bench press rule the IPF is trying to pass. (50% of a lifter’s butt on the bench, minimum distance the bar must travel)

And while the IPF-ers are trying to pass ridiculous rules that are nearly impossible to judge accurately or fairly, they are criticizing the anything goes multi-ply feds.

As far as I’m concerned, competitive powerlifters are all the same. Whether they squat 1,250 in a Leviathan and Preds and shitloads of test, or bench with a mega arch drug free, they’re all using whatever they can to have an advantage in competition.

Just because the goal in this sport is to have the biggest numbers, it doesn’t mean that its all about brute strength. People get all bent out of shape because we “cheat” and try to make things “easier” because they are forgetting that like any other sport, there are many other things that go into being the best. Proper nutrition and training, technique and finding the equipment that works best for you all come into play.

People try to discredit successful lifters because of the tools that they use to their advantage in competition, but this is no different from any other sport. Would you play tennis with an old wooden racket when you have access to new lightweight ones? Of course not. Same thing with competitive powerlifters. Why would you not do everything you could to win if the rules allowed?

That’s awesome. I would definitely procreate with this woman.
