Woke at 257.5 lbs, bloating pretty much gone. Surprised and pleased with the weight because I didn’t eat so much yesterday and definitely didn’t drink enough because I felt like garbage. Spent a lot of time asleep and slept almost 12 hours overnight. Feeling somewhat better so far today though.
@BOTSLAYER it isn’t super pretty. Generally it looks like this
Breakfast
4 crumpets with peanut butter and jam or tahini and honey
Snack
Around 150-200 grams oats with enough milk to cover and a bunch of chocolate syrup (maybe 75-100 mL)
Lunch
Around 250-400 grams rice or couscous and 200-400 grams meat with whatever sauce I cooked it in
Dinner
This is where it varies a ton, depending on what we have at home and what we feel like. As long as there’s plenty and it’s got meat I don’t worry too much.
Snack
If we have them, I’ll have some chocolate muffins chased with milk before bed
It’s a far cry from when I weighed everything and had macro targets.
Here’s a funny thing though @BOTSLAYER I went and put in what I generally eat in Myfitnesspal (which still has my setup from when I was tracking shit) and it turns out I’m really close to what I had set up anyway. Comes to around 4000 calories, PCF is around 250/400/150.
I thought you’d be eating more than that tbh, 4000 cals doesn’t seem that much at your BW for a bulk. Its funny how it differs so much person to person!
I’m on pretty much the same split as you, only difference being I’m having around 100g more carbs per day! But then I’ve always struggled to put weight on, I always seem to have to stuff myself
You’re a bunch leaner than I am too, which I’m sure has a major impact. I’m just a chubby dude who doesn’t need to eat that much to grow in an absolute sense, but for me it’s still a large amount.
Ok, well I’m drawing a line under the hypertrophy phase now. I don’t see how stretching it to an eighth week just to do the last deadlift and bodyweight day makes any sense.
I left work after about an hour yesterday because I felt like total shit. Stomach felt a bit off and I was struggling to stay awake. So I slept a bunch. Stayed home again today because I don’t want to end up properly crook. At a guess I’ve got some virus because I’ve been having difficulty stringing together more than a couple of days without feeling completely drained over the last week. There’s one going around so it’s hardly a shock I got it and I’m just lucky it hasn’t done worse to me. It put Jake in hospital, lost him 10 pounds and cost him his prep for Pro Raw.
My back is still a tad off, has been since driving to Sydney last week. It’s not oh shit off, but enough to notice. I think that’s also partly just fatigue and the beltless training adding up over six weeks. Which, I must make clear, is my idea and in no way Greg’s. I figured the weights were light and it would be a good test to see how my back would hold up and if my bracing had improved. It seems like this worked out ok, but I’m not sure how much it impacted on my recovery. Maybe it didn’t.
As expected of any of Greg’s programs it worked, since I’ve added maybe five pounds since I started. Still found the lack of deload hard though, from the fourth week onwards. That was similar to last full phase I ran, although I managed to complete it in full. The difference was that I wasn’t working a physical job for at least half of it, and was around 15 pounds lighter. The pumps I got were also nowhere near as intense, although I still have no idea why that is or whether that would have any impact.
This coming week I’ll deload as required, but I think I’ll add a no barbell rule to that just to be safe. I’ll push the prowler a couple of times, pump up my back and leave it at that.

I was feeling like that at the end of the last hypertrophy block. Doing 4’s and 6’s is so bloody good.
Just not 10s adding weight each week is all I ask. Plus some other variation that narrow stance squat, block pull and wide grip bench.
Until you see it on the plate, sounds way delicious!
For safeties you could look for a steel supply company and ask about steel bars. That’s what I did a while back when the safeties that came with my rack were bent out of shape and no longer trustworthy due to years of abuse from dead squats, dead benches, and rack pulls.
If your back is still messed up then start following McGill’s back rehab protocols. The main thing is to avoid spinal flexion in your daily movements and do the McGill big 3 every day. Going for walks can help too, especially when your back is not feeling good.

@chris_ottawa luckily it isn’t anywhere near that point. Good reminder though. Also, I did think of steel bars but I figure rigging slings will do the job and won’t risk damaging a bar when it hits them. All academic though because I don’t have any equipment apart from the rack and even if I did I’d have nowhere to put it.
Definitely something slightly off, breakfast made me uncomfortably full and I’m bloated as shit still. Pretty much no appetite. The bloat could be salt though. Also managed to lie down for almost four hours. Not sure if I slept, but I sure was relaxed. Back is doing ok, so tbh I’m just having a whinge.
