Ok, squats are done. Warm-ups and flights moved FAST. Back not feeling fantastic from the get go, so obviously the rehab stuff I’ve been doing over the week wasnt enough, but apparently enough to keep me in one piece.
Opened at 518 lbs but missed it by jumping the squat command. First time I’ve done that, nerves are definitely higher than usual. It felt and looked fine though, so I went straight to my second at 573 lbs. Almost ran out of time, ended up with one less revolution on my right knee because I ran out of wrap and didn’t have time to redo it. Didn’t even have time to do my wrist wraps. Got it fine though, but not easy enough to try 600 lbs so opted for 589 lbs and a five pound PR. Same deal with timing and wraps but got it with some effort. Big relief. Videos to come later.
Bench done. They had free sports chiro outside the warm up room and since my lower back was a little tight gave it a shot. Helped, apparently. Definitely didn’t hurt.
Warmups were uneventful and I went 286/319/325 for a five pound PR.
Just got out of bed, saw your lifts Mate.
They looked awesome and smooth… that 600 pounder and beyond is there.
Bench was easy.
Now go smash the deadlift… that is if your back holds up.
Finished with a 628 lbs second dead, giving me a 1543 lbs total which is a 50 lbs PR. Also an 11 lbs PR dead actually, because it’s my first time hitting that in meet. Called for 644 lbs for my third and fought it but couldn’t quite get it past my knees. I’m not upset, I couldn’t have done more.
It was a good day. My back held up. As usual, I could have taken more for some of my thirds but I’d much rather walk away with an 8/9 day and my first 700 kilo total wondering if I could have gone a bit higher rather than the other way.
Mrs KO did an amazing job filming and making sure I was fed.
Nice one Mark. I sat and watched the deadlifts on the live stream with my little boy. He was cheering you on ‘cmon Mark get it up’ lmao!! After each lift he was like 3 whites dad 3 whites. Well done mate.
Got in a little late to the stream but watched the deadlifts live Mark
Super performance, really. It was a bit early up here, so not beer and popcorns.
But a big mug of coffee and a cheer as well. Cmon Mark
Just wandered in after a while at the perfect time! PR on all lifts, a 50 lb PR on the total AND the knowledge that you could have squeezed a few more lbs out of it- best results you could ask for. Awesome job, dude.
