The way I do it the bar is over my mouth/chin area. You want to go as far up the bench as possible without hitting the hooks on the way back up.
Woke at 251.3 lbs, looking similar to what seems to be now the usual.
Been a while since I visited your log man. Still some strong ass lifts happening in here!
I love how simple your training has been and I need to get a pair of those asics you have lol. Are those wrestling shoes?
I wish I could wake up at 251 lbs, but there’s no way in hell I could eat to that point. 5’7 and be 251 lbs?? I’d look too stumpy haha!
Welcome back @isdatnutty
Yep, Greg’s training is pretty simple. What you’re seeing currently is his peaking system though, which is very low volume and super simple. Our regular stuff is quite a bit more varied once the main lift is done.
You probably could eat to 250 lbs but just like I am now, it wouldn’t be real pretty. Its just what I need to do to get stronger.
At that height and weight you’d look like Lee Preist if he got stung by 1000 bees !!
Woke at 250.9 lbs, looking much the same. Seem to be going through one of those periods where my weight and appearance is pretty steady.
Todays training
3x10 bracing hip thrusts
10x10 second bracing 90/90
Kb halos and band work between sets
SuperD shoulder stabilisation
Bench press
2x5xbar
5xplate
3x176 lbs
1x220 lbs
4x1x259 lbs
Rehab and usual stretching.
Starting to feel ready to go.
Yesssssss I likey I really likey
Woke at 249.6 lbs, looking around the same. A bit sniffly too, but not sure where that drop came from. If I’m going to get sick, now is the best time to do it though.
Definitely got a cold, but nothing terrible. Just feel tired and sniffly with a scratchy throat. Plenty of time to clear up, and this weekend is a long weekend which helps even more. Compared to last meet, the fifth week of peak is going to be pretty ideal:
Saturday to Monday - weekend
Tuesday, Wednesday - work
Thursday - tech, which really doesn’t count as work
Friday - off, fly to Adelaide in the evening
Saturday - weigh in, relax
Sunday - meet day
Monday - fly back to Canberra in the afternoon
Tuesday - day off
Woke at 252 lbs, looking similar again. Cold is still there but not worse so hopefully I’ll break it in the next day or two.
Cold might actually be clearing up a bit
Todays training
3x10 bracing hip thrusts
10x10 second bracing 90/90
DL, DL bar
3xplate/154 lbs - did these fully resetting to brace properly, so hands off bar. Did that for all my sets
2x2 plates/242 lbs - belt on
1x3 plates/352 lbs - to mixed grip
1x4 plates/440 lbs - belt to tightest notch
3x1x500 lbs - yeah, I’m fucking ready to go
Usual rehab stretching stuff
Meet is a week on Sunday, is it?
Woke at 250.4 lbs, looking pretty similar.
@mattjp yes, Sunday
Woke at 251.1 lbs, looking pretty similar. Ledr ear is blocked AF but the cold seems to be slowly going away.
Countdown started. 7 days to go !!
Spotted and loaded at Jake’s push/pull meet. Even for a quick two flights, that was hard yakka. Glad I could give something back though.
By the by, I know I’ve been slack in visiting everyone’s logs. So, if you read mine and noticed I haven’t come by yours much I’m sorry and I promise I’ll make a better effort to check in more.
Up until the last couple of days my headspace has been a little crowded and messed up what with one thing and another so I didn’t have much positive to say and figured I’d just keep quiet until it blew over.
As it is, spending the time at the meet today kind of drew a line under what ended up being a better peak than the last one and I’m feeling a lot steadier than I did 24 hours ago. Tomorrow is the last day in the gym before meet day, and the I’ll mostly be resting. I’ve got my attempts set out, and my thirds are looking to be 589-600/325-330/644-661. You know me, I’ll most likely be conservative but those are my windows and I’ll decide where to go based on my seconds.
All I’ve got to do now is complete tomorrow and give this cold the boot.
No need to apologise but I thank you anyway. We all have real lives and most of the stuff we do there is more important than reading about what sets and reps our online friends are doing. I’m glad you are working through what ever it is and glad you are feeling good about your upcoming meet.
We all have times where we don’t have much time to read our fellow lifters log, no need to apologize for that.
You just get ready for next weeks meet and come up with some good numbers Mate.
