MarkKO's Training Log

Wow. I thought your two plates was two 25 kilo. I don’t understand the kg to lb yet. I think it is around 2.5 times right?

1 kg = 2.2 lb. so, slightly larger than double.

I thought @MarkKO was using more weight too. I know the typical 2 plate lift for us Yanks would be 100 kgs (20 kg bar + 4 - 20 kg plates). I thought Mark’s bar was 25 kgs or he was using the 25 kg plates.

Here’s what threw me off. Maybe it’s the Deadlift bar though.

Nah @Frank_C it’s because I used the 25 kg plates for deads (and squats usually). If the plates are anything other than 20s or the bar weighs more than 20 kg I’ll give an actual weight in lbs. Because for bench I use a standard bar and I’m too weak to use 25s as a plate, I stick to the 20 kg plates.

Now I look at it, it makes no sense outside of my own head.

Swung through the doctor’s today to get my medical certificate for today. Not a fan of taking a sick day so early into a new job, but today was going to be more dressing three plus metre sticks of American oak (that’s 10 feet) and TBH that wasn’t going to help me.

Doc said I’ve probably got a viral infection. Could get better, could get worse. I’m going with better, simply because I don’t feel completely dead yet.

Got him to check my blood pressure as well, because I figured now I’m a bit bigger it can’t hurt. Sitting at 128/83, which isn’t bad. It could be lower, but I’m not sitting anywhere risky yet.

Greg asked for before and afters. This is the closest I’ve got, mid March 2018 to today (seven months give or take a week).

Before (216 lbs)

After (243 lbs)

Positives: you’ve gained lats

Negatives: you still haven’t quite mastered the art of smiling

Conclusion: thicc :gorilla:

Looking beefy. How tall are you?

To convert lbs to KG just divide it by two and then take off 10%. Gets you close enough - 225lbs is actually 102.05kg and that method gets you 101.25kg.

Or the Yanks could join the other 95% of the world’s population in using metric

Not to be a smart ass but it is 102 kg.

Edit: Just saw that @mattjp already pointed that out. Sorry

Yep that’s right

I guess I should’ve been more clear because I understand kgs. I’ve trained with kg plates and just got used to the new numbers.

If you use kg plates and say you did a three plate squat then I assume you mean 140 kgs.

I know it’s not the same as my three plates. And on that note I think I should start using kg plates so I cash reach my goals faster!

I think it’s safe to say you are big now. Do you have before and afters since the last time you were this heavy?

Woke at 246.6 lbs, looking similar to yesterday. Feeling a heap better too.

@losthog I think 210 cm is seven feet on the nose

@Destrength I’ve never been this heavy. I topped out around 225 before I leaned out. Actually, I tell a lie. I think I was around 265 lbs when I was 18. Weed and my natural appetite combine to make some scary shit. Closest I’ve got picture wise I’d the third picture here

I’d have been around 225 lbs there
