MarkKO's Training Log

Why? Just, why!? I don’t see any reason to do dips after that push up work. Your performance proves my point – your tri’s are smoked!

Woke at 236.7 lbs, little bit of bloating but that’s about it.

@Frank_C at a guess it’s a way to make sure we get a bunch of time under tension with minimal stress on anything other than the muscles. It’s shitty doing it and for a few hours after, but the next day I feel pretty good.

The other possibility is that the almost nonexistent rests are there just to make sure we push to move through it fast. We’re powerlifters, remember, we aren’t renowned for doing things fast.

Lastly, I suspect by the end of the six weeks simply having gotten used to this will mean it’s easier.

Today’s training

Air squats and planks

Squat, mono
5xbar
5xplate/143 lbs
5x2 plates/231 lbs
2x10x286 lbs

Narrow stance squat (feet in two inches each)
2x10x286 lbs

Did a thing I haven’t done in ages for fear of my elbows, which is full gripping the bar. It was fine, and felt good. Did that from the second set of squats onwards.

Front squat
11x154 lbs

Lower back painfully pumped by now

DB goblet squats without lockout
2x25x100 lbs - these fucking sucked

GHR
55 total reps, 10 second rests - did 7 and then mostly 4s

Had to stop here for maybe 10 minutes to get some degree of control over the pain in my hamstrings and lower back. This was an absolutely horrific pump. I remember when I sliced my leg open on a ski about 10 years ago and I got a haematoma because the doc missed a nicked vessel and the pressure in the wound built up so much three or so stitches had to be removed at which point blood shot up about a metre in the air - the pressure in my back felt really close to how that felt

BB curls
4x15x55 lbs - used the squat bar in the monolift. I give no fucks.

All up an hour and 25 minutes including whimpering time and some extra thorough stretching of my back and hamstrings.

Woke at 236.9 lbs, bloated.

Ok, so maybe I gave a small fuck because I did check that no-one needed it first.

Oddly enough my legs are more wobbly than sore. I’ll take it.

Today’s training

Band work, pull-ups (six) and hand release push-ups - cautious on the pull-ups but they felt good. Lats are tired though, also I’m fat

Bench press
5xbar
5xplate
2x10x159 lbs

Wide grip bench press (pointer finger on rings)
2x10x159 lbs

Close grip bench to a one-board
11x132 lbs

DB flys
3x20x35 lbs

DB tricep extensions
4x12x25 lbs

All up 55 minutes, and I added what I think is a SuperD pec stretch with band at the end.

I enjoy the heck out of SuperD’s stuff, haha his ‘humble bragged guru’ rants are great.

Woke at 237.2, bloating down but looking watery. Slept like crap, kept waking up.

Spent most of work in a fucking foul mood (dickhead-induced). Went to the work gym and beat the fuck out of the heavy bag for 10 minutes, one on, one off. Felt much better.

I think I need to do that regularly.

Woke at 238.5 lbs, less bloated and watery than yesterday.

Today’s training

45 degree back raises, reverse hyper, planks, jumps

DL, stiff bar
3xplate
3x2 plates
2x10x319 lbs - less shitty than last week but still out of the groove.

Rack pulls from mid shin
2x10x319 lbs - lower back utterly fucked by now

DL without touching the floor
11x220 lbs - this fucking SUCKED

DB row
5x10x120 lbs - felt good by the end, but traps on fire too

BB row
20x176 lbs - this got hard from 15. More traps, lats also pumped

Seated military press
3x12x88 lbs - shoulders and tris absolutely annihilated and I’ll be buggered if I know why because this is the only pressing for the day

Band facepulls
4x10 with 5 second rests

All up an hour and 45 minutes including 10-15 minutes chat

Knowing Mark he would have said RDL’s if it was.
Guessing it would be a DL, kind of touch n’ go without touching.
