Anyway, I saw a guy doing flies, laying on the ground today. ROM was limited, and each rep was static to dynamic.

Woke at 203.9 lbs, which I expected given dinner yesterday. Looking OK, a little bloated but that’s about the only difference.

So, yeah. Decided this three week period pre honeymoon deload is as good a time as any to chuck in a heavier, moderate rep wave of squats

5xplate+collars/154 lbs
5x2 plates+collars/242 lbs
5x3 plates+collars/330 lbs, belt and wraps on (8 revolutions, 5X1)
3x8x418 lbs, all 8 revolutions as above, 6, 7, 7-8 RPE - to 440 lbs next week

This would be by far the heaviest straight sets of squats I’ve done in a long time. I’m really pleased with how they felt and how my groove stayed the same to my lighter sleeved squats with and without belt.

3x8x2 plates - I really liked these. They look sketchy AF but felt exactly as I wanted them to: my back pushing the weight rather than pulling it. I’ll stay at this weight until I can break if off the pins each rep with no knee movement. Won’t drop the pin height either until I eliminate knee movement.

Why would I be jealous of a belt squat? That’s for bitching out on real squats.

I go out of my way to load my back. I rest between sets with a barbell on my back to get more compression gains. I wear weighted hats all day to increase compressive forces on my spine. I put a band around my head and feet to compress me while I sleep.

May or may not be related to why I’m a manlet…

Although, manlet doesn’t preclude being a monster. Look at Patrick Morrison. Hell, look at Ed Coan.

Today’s training

Push-ups (22) until my pecs woke up

American bar feet up wide grip bench press
10xbar
8xplate
2x10x195 lbs, 7 and 8 RPE
3x8x195 lbs, 8-9, 9-10 and 9 RPE

Work sets took 15 minutes

DB rows supersetted with barbell incline bench
Rows 3x10x140 lbs, hook grip
Press 3x12x143 lbs

Pull-ups supersetted with bottoms up kb press
Pull-ups 3x5xwide overhand, 3x5xwide neutral
Press with 2x35 lbs 2, 3, 3, 5, 4, 4 - these are HARD but shoulders felt great after

Called this superset early because my elbows started complaining a bit. I’ll shift this day to Monday next week to keep it away from squat because squats and pull-ups need to be kept apart

Conditioning
Concept 2 rower 500-100 metres, 60 second rests
Target pace was sub two minutes 15 seconds per 500 m across all rounds, managed an average of two minutes seven seconds - first time this actually had me working. Next week minimum pace will be two minutes 10 seconds per 500 m.

All up took an hour and 50 minutes or so including some gasbagging

No I won’t. I’ll squat Tueaday and DL Thursday. Problem solved. Actually, most likely I’ll go Sunday, Monday, Tuesday off, Wednesday through Friday.
