MarkKO's Training Log

KB sport is like weightlifting, except you don’t get strong.

Just not enough true time under tension.

I love KBs, they’re fun and useful if applied properly. I’ve got a mini love affair with single/double swings, but more for the conditioning effect than anything else. I think that’s their most useful purpose TBH.

Best of luck at the meet brother! You’ll do great you robot you!

So this is my macro breakdown for today

That’s debateable. You’ve made significant strength gains in a short time of powerlifting. IIRC, previously you just did Kb sport, ya?

Possibly, but my strength when I started kb sport was much on a part with my strength when I switched to PL.

TL;DR my opinion on kbs is that RKC style swings are useful, apart from that BBs and DBs are superior for strength and size. Like some limited weightlifting exercises are useful in that regard, but standard BB and DB work is superior.

I’ve been driving myself nuts today, counting down to sauna time. I’m already feeling drier from cutting fluid intake. Got one meal to go, and one drink. Then that’s it till weigh in time.

Noticing the lower carb making me hungry AF.

Other than that, feeling really pretty good. Cold/flu is clearing up nicely so far. All that’s left to do is weigh in and prepare meet day food and drink. According to my fiancee I’ve managed to not be an asshat either so far.

Tomorrow should be fun in terms of refeeding, and I don’t feel like there’s anything I’ve left undone for meet day. Now it’s just the usual constant low level nerves that’ll persist until the meet is over.

Spent about two hours in and out of the sauna and steam room. Started out weighing 186.1 lbs, finished at 181.9 lbs. Not a fan of spitting, but I probably got an extra half a pound off thanks to it, and I’m not the type to be ungrateful.

Prefer the sauna, it’s harder but works better. It also smells better. Starting to feel really dry now, craving the Gatorade with salt and creatine I prepared on Jeremy’s instructions.

I could have pushed down to 181 lbs even but my heartrate was hitting 120 bpm just sitting there which I wasn’t exactly ecstatic about. Worst case I sit in a hot shower tomorrow morning.

Now you get to relax and enjoy Home-Field advantage while everyone else messes with travelling and hotels.

This should be fun!

Woke at 179.5 lbs. Mouth is dry AF, which I’m blaming on my nose blocking overnight resulting in constant mouth breathing - which probably helped me drop weight though. Feeling surprisingly good. Just thirsty. Not hungry at all, which is weird, but I suspect that’ll change when I have a drink.

Weighed in at 178.2 lbs, sunk 1.8 litres of Gatorade and there bananas within a half hour.

Two samosas, three bhajis (curry festival FTW), choc pb&j slice, cherry pie with cream, banoffee pie, chocolate tart and three sausages down. Also around a litre of plunger coffee. Gut feels stretched to the max, no solid food for three hours although I’ll pump the water as best I can.

Actually looking forward to going back to my usual diet on Monday.

Chugging along with fluids: water with double scoops of whey as I may have eaten a ton but it was short on protein.

My system is NOT fond of junk only. After a day of normal eating, fine. On an empty stomach not so much. Which is a bonus, I think, as I’m taking it to mean my body is adjusted to a relatively good diet and that can only bode well for body composition.

Tomorrow will be a small, fast meet: 14 lifters, one flight, 20 minute breaks between lifts.

I’m curious as to how I’ll look tomorrow. I’m reasonably confident I’ll be back to normal condition by mid next week at the latest. I hope…

Damn… save some for me.

See you’ve dropped below 180 - awesome. How do you feel?

Stuffed to the gills right. Hopefully I’m around 188-190 lbs now. That’ll put me around 187-188 lbs tomorrow.

I’ll be back to normal tomorrow mid next week, which is between 184 and 185 lbs. Sub 183.5 lbs means I’m dehydrated. Then the slow adjustment process continues.
