Mostly where clothes rub: collarbone, shoulders, waist. Nothing terrible.
Makes sense to me. I’m stuck between having to wear cotton everything, but feeling like steamed veggies because it’s so damn hot over here.
@planetcybertron We (men) can’t really be too critical of women and their bodies when it comes to things like scars or stupid crap like ingrown hairs. I feel partly responsible for putting my wife’s body through hell twice while she grew tiny humans. The childbirth process has definitely taken its toll on her small frame but she’s handled it like a champ. I can’t fault her if things are a little different than when we met in college.
Seriously. Why the heck can’t I find normal people like you guys in real life? I’m not one to jump on the feminism bandwagon, because women can pick men apart just as easily. For instance my husband went from 300ish pounds down to 230, and he was looks like three lightening bolts down his sides to his butt, and he’s mentioned that during the process of losing weight before he met me that chicks would literally poke and pry at them and laugh, and say, “you’d need about three pounds of coco butter to get rid of that”. And I can’t fathom why on earth people do that but burst into flames when people point out their flaws. Before I got my tattoos I looked like a human tic tac toe board, and you can best believe all the ignorant people would blatantly blurt out whatever their mind came up with. I do meet people normal folks from walks of life who understand where I was at at the time, and my husband calls them “warrior marks”, so it all turned out good which it usually does.
And for women who has given birth I look at them as soldiers on the biological level because they internally feed babies and them birth them. And back when, it wasn’t uncommon to birth up to 10 kids in one family, and often times the wife wouldn’t even make it. So I agree. Most def. hell I even give my respect to dudes or chicks who have stretch marks, but are pro bodybuilders.
Ah, stretch marks. Got me some of those too. Had them since I was about 16.
Woke at 185 lbs, looking noticeably harder and drier.
My order from Lifting Large arrived yesterday. Briefs are tight AF, it’ll take me a while to put them on and I’ll need to wedgie myself off something to do it. Excited to try them Friday. Compression cuffs are cool, it’ll take me a day or two to figure out exactly where to sit them. DL slippers are very, very grippy. Mike threw in a T-shirt too, which is awesome.
Me too, inside of my legs mainly, but now drooping skin from weight loss.
Fuck it, I own it.
I’ve got so many stretch marks. Initially from growing (in height) really fast, then from growing (in size).
The extra skin sucks. My arms have quite a bit. While I definitely have more fat to lose, my arms have shrunk over an inch. I can only assume the skin is still enough to cover that extra inch in diameter.
I have a load on my legs from them doubling in size from squatting, just wear them with pride.
Occasionally, very, very occasionally, I stray from the plan. Today was one of those days. Schedule says CGBP, but I have brand new briefs; plus my shoulders are unaccountably sore. So I figured, how much difference can it make squatting today and doing CGBP tomorrow? Sure, I hit DL on Tuesday and farmers walks yesterday, but my back felt fine. I believe @FlatsFarmer mentioned being interested in how I find the briefs.
Today’s training
Lazy lifter, forgot shoulders
Briefs on - takes about five minutes which isn’t bad. They are TIGHT, but definitely could be tighter if things like circulation and my reproductive capacity were less of a concern. Used the Slingshot compression cuffs on my elbows. They are excellent.
Squat - briefs
Work up in 3-5s from bar in 44 lbs, 10 facepulls between sets. Briefs are NOT comfortable
3x308 lbs, under 6 RPE - first thing I noticed is that reasonably tight briefs and no or open belt don’t change my groove but with a closed belt I immediately get pulled back as I go down.
3x352 lbs, under 6 RPE - not hard to adjust to the slight change and fight it
1x396 lbs, under 6 RPE - noticing the briefs feel better as the weight increases, although I also descend more slowly and go less deep
1x440 lbs, 7-8 RPE
1x473 lbs, 8-9 RPE
Didn’t see any point pushing further
Normally I’d have taken off the briefs and hit some squat backoff sets and the usual assistance. Except, I really wanted to find out how the briefs felt for DL. I realise I hit a sumo PR the day before and did a bunch of farmers walks yesterday. This was not a wise decision. I decided to go ahead, pull sumo and stop when it felt too much. This would also let me test my DL slippers. Kept the cuffs on.
Sumo DL - briefs
Work up in mostly doubles 44 lbs from 132 lbs, minimal rest between sets
Three things became apparent very quickly: I get a ton of carryover from the briefs for sumo; wearing briefs makes me able to take very little rest between sets as I don’t feel remotely taxed; and getting into position is not comfortable but completely worth it
By the time I hit 264 lbs I realised my grip was shot from yesterday so straps went on. I don’t care. My point was to see how the briefs affect my DL.
Singles from 352 lbs onwards
352 lbs, under 6 RPE, felt pretty much identical to 220 lbs
396 lbs, under 6 RPE, felt close to 308 lbs
440 lbs, under 6 RPE, felt almost identical to 396 lbs
484 lbs, 6 RPE, the difference to raw is very noticeable because unlike raw, things start getting heavier coming into lockout
528 lbs, 7 RPE, holy wow - although now lockout felt distinctly heavier
572 lbs failed, initially I thought I couldn’t lock it out but on the video realised my left foot slid out as the bar was coming up. Has this not happened, I’m convinced I’d have gotten it. I missed crushing my left foot by a few millimetres.
My mate Adam turned up at this point and encouraged me to reattempt 572 lbs. I decided what the hell, but to go conventional. I’d get an idea of how the briefs worked for that. Vanity dictated my shirt come off.
572 lbs, 9-10 RPE with a distinct hitch - definitely feels different to a raw conventional pull but less carryover than for sumo as far as I can tell.
The briefs are going to be an excellent addition. I am confident the four weeks squat in briefs/raw DL followed by four weeks raw squat/DL in briefs will work well. At the very least, I’ll be able to handle significantly heavier loads on DL.
That was all I had time for. Fun session. Didn’t have much trouble removing the briefs either.
About two hours later all the load the briefs took off me during training came knocking. Traps, lats and abs are absolute mincemeat and lower back is quite tired too. Upper thighs and hips are covered welts.
Wow what a session! Smashed it!
Nearly spat my water out due to laughter! Haha
Your next meet is still going to be raw though?
Next several meets for sure. I’ll only transition to equipped when I’ve done what I plan on raw.
I had a front row seat view of a kid drop 650 on his foot pulling sumo at a competition. He walked off the platform like a champ, but god damn… the agony afterward… I have not pulled anything over 405 with sumo since that day.
Please no
Saw your video on the tubes and had to come in and find out what the hell was going on?!?!?! hahahaha
And your Sumo PR is now higher than mine.
Was that Destiny’s Child???
Don’t go chasin’ waterfalls…
Blasphemy, anyway good lifting.
Probably. My favourite music to squat to (not kidding).
Woke at 184.8 lbs, so not much of a drop but looking basically as I did pre Skipload, possibly even a little better.
