MarkKO's Training Log

Totally see your point of view

The reason for the bands at the front would be to pull you in front and make you force your chest up even harder.Maybe an overkill,I don’t know

With an SSB definitely overkill. The bar does that all by itself.

Jouko Ahola (Finnish strongman, world’s strongest man -97 and -99) did his squats, leg presses and whatnot using the same stance he used when deadlifting, so a wide stance box squat would seem like an appropriate accessory movement.

I’ve noticed that really works, my reasoning for that is the specificity of the technique. (Now we must take in consideration the fact that we should do movements with different regularly to avoid creating too huge of an imbalance regarding the motor patterns)

Fun fact, George Leeman once said that he got his idea of using the deadlift stance for squats from Jouko, but he decided to one up it by throwing in a box as well

I would go further and say that I think wide stance box squats are one of the best ways to learn sumo DL.

Going to do an ‘extra’ session today, albeit a short one. I’ll have about 45 minutes. I’ll have slightly less time than usual to train Thursday and Friday as well, so the plan is to get my entire conditioning load done today with the smaller pump work as well (bis/tris, abs/shoulders).

For the conditioning, I’m thinking of doing farmers walks, because we’ve got handles for it. That’d probably take care of abs too when I think about it. I might superset the carries with STBs or something. There’s a 10ish yard track I’ll use, so maybe 10 rounds as fast as possible with bodyweight per hand with five STBs between runs.

Then smash through some bis/tris/shoulders and finish with incline treadmill.

Got notification my briefs/cuffs/slippers have been delivered. Excited, because that means a) I can squat in my briefs on Friday and then not use them until post meet, maybe DL in them week after next too; and b) I can use the elbow cuffs from tomorrow because while my elbows have been behaving they have hinted a little compression would be appreciated.

Today’s training

Lazy lifter

10 rounds of

Farmers carry with 187 lbs of plates on each handle, 9ish yards as fast as possible - first two strapless, rest with straps

With

5 STBs

No rest between rounds, took about 10 minutes

This was hard. Even with straps by the end grip was pretty shot. Abs too.

First round

https://www.instagram.com/p/BULwKh1Fa4z/

Didn’t have a ton of time by this point

Seated cheat hammer curls 3x15x38 lbs - using a slow eccentric makes me feel a huge amount of tension in my biceps

Supersetted with

U-bar tricep pushdowns 3x15x44 lbs - squeeze at the top, controlled eccentric

Too about 30 second rests between sets. Holy pump

Almost ran out of time by now but still wanted to so something my shoulders

Side raises 30x10 lbs
Front raises 26x15 lbs
RDFs 20x20 lbs

All with controlled eccentric and explosive concentric

Shoulders fried

Looking decent with a pump now although the lighting is rather favourable

Looking good man! Can’t wait to cut down eventually. Your farmers carries sound fun as heck too.

I can’t sleep any longer, and have realized, is this what time you wake up?

No, it’s eight pm here. The munchkin is bathing, I’m keeping an eye on him and my fiancee is plucking ingrown hairs out of my shoulders. Family bliss.

Ohhhhhhh darn, that’s right. I always forget the time zones. Every. Single. Time. It’s 5 in the morning here, and I’m not happy about being awake this early, considering I have no school for the semester lol.

Can’t stand ingrown hairs. I get them in the ONE spot they just shouldn’t be. I’d much rather have an extra bout of acne to deal with. At least I can use the crap out of acne products I spend nearly 50$ on. Lol ingrown hairs behave differently. And they just, heal when they heal.

I usually end up digging them out. This results in a fair amount of bleeding usually. Oh well.

But the paaiiiin. I just can’t sometimes.

Meh. I figure once I’ve dug a deep enough hole in my skin I can get my tweezers under the skin I may as well finish the job. I just make sure to spray alcohol on it when I’m done.

It they were in any other spot than where they usually form on me, I would douse it in alcohol. But I usually use aloe Vera, and Eucalyptus oil to heal it. But being a girl you worry about scars and whatnot. Dudes do too? I guess? Idk. Lol

Bit of an odd convo going on! Haha + scars are pretty cool, even on chicks. Shows how tough you are :yum: haha

I’ve got enough scars already I don’t really worry. Although my ingrown are in less sensitive areas I think.

I’ve had some in-growns in less than desirable places. The residual scars kinda match some laparoscopic surgery scars I have, so I don’t mind them, but I definitely lost out on my future an underwear model.

I’m glad there’s people with your view point on that subject. Most of my scars are tatted over, but I still look at them as survival reminders. And Mark mentioned ingrown hairs, which have always bothered me since I started puberty. So I just ran with it? Lol

Meh. Lucky. Do they grow in places you’ve recently shaved the most?

They always scar up in such a weird way, because the skin tissue gets all screwed up. However I have no one aside from my husband to impress so I guess it all balances out. He gets really nasty bouts of back acne. So I suppose everyone has their “things” that happen to them. I’ve never had body acne just facial acne.
