I used to watch wrestling, then i went to high school. I dont mean to take away anything from the performers, i just grew out of finding it entertaining.

I used to ridicule it back in the 80s when fools actually thought it was real. I still remember when that asshole wrestler slapped John Stossel in the ear for asking if wrestling was fake back in 1987 or so.
When they finally came out and said they were acting, I became OK with it, but as I said, I still don’t watch it.
So
The dropkick that busted my shin was fake and im not wearing cast because of it?
Sure wrestlers will get beaten up and hurt, just like a stuntman…a stuntman getting hurt making an Indiana Jones movie doesn’t make Indiana Jones real.

A wrestler being powerbombed is real. I know from experience.
Lots of times wins and losses aren’t scripted either. Lots of guys go out and throw it together on the fly. Definitely real.
It’s not real dude.

You’re talking to a dude that does the shit.

wow dude thanks for that…
you know that Rockula is an amateur wrestler right? of course the story lines are fake and most endings scripted - the point of it is to make it look like you’re doing severe damage to your opponent while actually trying to hurt them to the most minimal of extent possible. so it’s fake in that sense, except Rockula is referring to the fact that the latter part of that last sentence is very much real and can be painful. You’re still be kicked, body slammed and contorted in the ring in selling ‘the action.’ it takes a lot of skill and training to do what they do on a frequent basis. most of them are phenominal athletes and a lot of them actually train in the martial arts .

no one is denying that it doesn’t take skill and pain does not occur.
I think the stuntman analogy used earlier was rather close

I know.
It isn’t a real sport. Clearly it is a real something, maybe like improv speedo clashing or something. I think when people refer to it being fake, most mean it is a staged competition, not a real sport. And it isn’t.
What ever it is, if it makes you happy and you want to succeed at it, I do sincerely wish you the best of luck to reach the top.
Either way it’s as real as a Hollywood fight scene.
It’s not a sport, but those guys are ridiculous athletes.
I want to be clear that I would say I support wrestling. It’s great fun. It’s nit the physicality that I don’t think is real, it was back in the 80s when guys in school really thought that the 280lb IRS guy was angry with a Shiek from Saudi Arabia and that they were agreeing to settle their unknown differences in a scheduled fight in a ring in Cleveland, and that they wouldn’t just punch and grapple like peole really do but jump off ropes onto each other.
I didn’t mean for that to sound so sarcastic…I just didn’t like the people that genuinely felt that all of that was 100% real.

The risks of injury (permanent) are greater in wrestling than a movie fight scene. There is no double take in the ring.
Rock, props for pursuing the wrestling career.
I enjoyed WWE/WWF/WCW/ECW perhaps in the 1990s, I would regularly subscribe to PPV and it was fun to watch. What changed for me is that following it week to week became harder and harder as the years rolled by and watching it nowadays I don’t get the same connection. But considering the fan base I don’t think Vince cares if I’m a fan or not. lol.

Last time I checked, there are more white rappers now then back then…lots of racial undertones in this statement.
