You won’t be holding my raisins, as soon as Kerry screws up I’ll be roasting his ass as well! ![]()
JeffR and Rainjack make a good point… General Zinni is just trying to sell a book. He’s obviously making a lot of crazy statements, in order to sell as many books as possible. Zinni doesn’t actually believe that Team Bush should have done anything differently, it’s all part of the “media game” and a way to sell books. You guys can see through the hype.
I was wondering what you guys make of the Chalabi situation? Chalabi’s the Iraqi expatriate that Cheney and Rumsfeld wanted to install as the new leadership of Iraq. Up until last week, the US was paying Chalabi 340,000 dollars a month, as an adviser. Chalabi provided a lot of the information about WMD, that Team Bush used as justification for invasion.
Now it turns out that Chalabi may be a spy working for Iran, and he is accused of passing Iran top classified information. Chalabi has been hanging around Washington DC for years, and was dismissed as a crapweasel by Team Clinton, but the people at Team Bush found him credible, and made him central in their planning.
Anyway, I was wondering if JeffR or Rainjack could provide some analysis of the Chalabi situation. I would appreciate your insight. (To my knowledge, Chalabi is not currently selling a book).
“let’s just wait until November, buddy. That is unless your candidate can’t stand losing and decides to throw out the military vote and sue G-dub - again.”
Rainjack, it was Dubya who sued Gore, to stop the recount in Florida. Look at the Supreme Court case, it’s called Bush v. Gore. That means Bush was the one who brought legal action against Gore.
Hm, I must have really been on to something with my last post considering all the self-appointed good guys completely dodged my questions and assertions.
Rainjack says he can smell a rat… So now Zinni’s a rat? I’ll tell you what I smell. I smell facsism. But you can’t keep the REAL good guys down RJ, Jeff, et al, no matter how hard you try.
Lumpy - I’m sorry, but I believe His-Alness sued in the Florida Courts first. Don’t you rememeber the,“let every vote be counted” B.S.?
Bush sued to get it into Federal Court.
But I could be wrong.
Careful there, Roy - you might pull something trying to pat yourself on the back like that.
The first step to reading comprehension is actually paying attention to what you read. The rat I was refering to is not Zinni himself, but his credibility - which would carry a whole lot more clout were he not out on the book tour.
Believe it or not, not every single person who writes a book is motivated by money. That may be YOUR central focus, and defining criteria of success, which explains a lot about you. All of these guys like Clark, Wilson, Woodward, Zinni, and so on, who have sterling records have all just conspired to take down the president? I think you misread them. (I take that back… Like your superhero, GWB, you probably don’t read books) I think that they are outraged by the fact that we were Bushwhacked! Michael Moore made so many millions from the tax cut Bush gave him, that instead of keeping it, he donated all of it for any cause that would get rid of Bush. Not opportunist… PASSIONATE. These people don’t care about money. They care about doing the right thing, and speaking the truth.
rainjack brings up a point worth noting in that anyone who criticizes the Bush administration loses credibility (but to whom?)… now why is that?
The Chalabi chearleaders in the White House are the ones who are now quite devoid of credibility.
I am going to take the liberal reasoning tact here. If you were against the war, then you were for the sanctions that “killed millions”.
There is a whole bunch of “blame the messenger” logic in this thread.
If Zinni says something negative about Bush, then there HAS to be something wrong with Zinni, he isn’t credible etc.
