Marijuana and Low Test

What’s the correlation here? I have read several websites that claim it raises cortisol, lowers LH which in turn lowers test, and raises estradiol. Yet I know tons of people who smoke it, and don’t get any ill effects from it. Really, I think when it comes down to it, it’ll always depend on the individual. So I’d like to hear personal stories from people how it affects them, and if they have lab work to prove either way.

By ill effects, do you mean they “feel fine”? Or have actually gotten bloodwork?

I reside in a weed legal state, so I was smoking a lot at one point, and had a low test reading. I don’t know my reading otherwise. But I couldn’t imagine it being any more harmful than alcohol, soy, or processed food?

I agree with you here 100%.

There isn’t a lot of studies on marijuana because it’s still a Class I drug at the Federal Level. In my experience and observations, it helps relieve stress, helps with recovery, and is a strong anti-inflammatory.

This is very subjective, and as such can not be applied to everyone. My wife tried it once to see if would help chronic back pain and stress… it made her stress level go through the roof and created a panic situation. Never again. The added stress actually made her back pain worse!!

Sure it works for some and I’m not demonizing hooch, but just for clarity I thought I would play the devils advocate here.

In my opinion, which probably isn’t worth much, I think anyone on TRT should be trying as best they can to adhere to good nutrition, an adequate work out routine, and as little mind altering substances as possible. I mean, you started TRT because you felt like shit right? Why not do EVERYTHING in your power, along with TRT, to try and NOT let that ever be the case again?

the reason I’m asking is because from 20-24 weed seemed to help alleviate some sexual issues I was having, helped my mood, among other things. I took a few years off of it, and during those few years my hormone issues reached a low point. 3 weeks ago I tried incorporating it in my routine to see the affect. Initially it boosted my mood, libido and erections. Was feeling really good. Unfortunately those benefits deteriorated quickly, and all my low t symptoms have gotten more severe. Sex drive and erections are at zero, I’m shedding weight and losing muscle, and my anxiety has gotten worse. That’s just from 3 weeks. I’m going to get blood work but I wanna know if other guys have experienced this.

Sounds like you need to lay off the Hippie Hay!! Lol

Yeah seems like not a good fit for me anymore! I stopped as of yesterday. Of course just in time for my country to legalize it too. Damn lol

To me it just sounds like you’re getting really high after so much time off After a few years off, it’s probably feeling like the first time again.

I used to always have great training sessions while high on marijuana. Might want to look at what else is going on as far as lifecycle changes? I think you might be exaggerating losing muscle in 3 weeks

She got the wrong weed. From fully couch-locked with hallucinations to slightly uplifted with full concentration there are thousands of strains and each of them a bit different. I have some I like for a movie, some for yard work, some for sleeping, some for creativity, etc. This stuff is all over the map. She might even do well with a non THC oil just made up of cannabidiol.

Yeah she’s tried CBD and it helped a tiny bit, but not enough to justify the cost. We aren’t into masking symptoms anyway so we would rather get to the root issue.

Sounds like the cannibas garden is a field loaded with land mines to me. I think we’d rather stay on the sidewalk. We don’t have anywhere near the interest or time it would take to investigate the effectiveness/side effects/individual reactions to thousands of strains.

Then you might be better off going with a CBD oil.

I should have finished reading the thread.

I get it. It has taken me years of very careful experimentation to figure out what I like and don’t like. Using very small amounts and trying to surmise the effects of an actual dose. I have kids and cant be a zombie or not “myself”. This was all before I started TRT and yes trying to treat the anxiety and depression etc of being low T without an SSRI. BUT I did find some cool shit that I really like. Its legal in my state and shops are opening soon. I welcome the ease at which I should be able to transition from casual alcohol use to legal pot. Currently you need to have a MML or a friend with one in order to procure MA weed. Never got the license and dont like leaning too heavily on my friends.

Good to have a published article. I don’t know how much I trust a study on animals from the Reagan era.

Also, it suggests that those impacts from the weed were prevalent initially, but went away with more use. Another study I have read stated the impact is more profound the first couple uses.

I believe the one I read looked at jamican men lol. The test levels among cronic smokers and non smokers (don’t know where they found them in jamica) were not statically different. The study also noted that the non smokers test levels did drop after smoking, but that did not happen with the cronic smoker.
